Will there ever be a new 3D Rayman Game?

Post by crozof »

I've been thinking about this for awhile now and I'm not sure if there will be a new 3D Rayman game made by Ubisoft in the future or they are just going to make the Rayman games 2D now. I do love Rayman Origins and I did like the Rayman Legends demo. I really wonder if maybe Ubisoft will make a new 3D Rayman game after Legends or just keep 2D? I personally think maybe for now on Rayman games will just be on 2D but that's just my prospective what do you guys think?

Considering Rayman does excellently in both 2D and 3D I see no reason for there to never be another 3D Rayman game. It probably won't happen for awhile though with how successful Origins was and Legends is looking to be just as successful. Whatever the next game will be like is to be seen.

Rayman Legends is 2.5D.

Howdy crozof!Welcome to the forum!

Michel Ancel guaranteed in a relatively recent interview that he would keep working in Rayman games, so we cannot say that we'll never see a 3D Rayman game. Its just a matter of time since these take more time to do than 2D games, I have faith that we'll see a new 3D title in the next years. ;)

I'd like for Michel to get going on Beyond Good and Evil 2 beforehand, mind you, but constantly making 2D titles is going to get old.

I'd still rather have a decent 2d game like origins than a bad 3d one like R3HH.

I wouldn't go as far as to calling Rayman 3 a bad 3D Rayman title, far from it actually.
I've played Rayman 3 and enjoyed it many a time, not just as a game, but as a Rayman game, true, the way it flanderised some characters like Murfy and Globox was annoying, but it still contained the core Rayman formula, he had all his primary moves, and combat felt like a combination of Rayman 2's and 1's, and it worked wonderfully, Rayman still had his helicopter, there were still cages, and most importantly, the world still had some magic to it, something which I felt Origins lacked a lot more.

My favourite level from the whole series is actually from Rayman 3, The Summit Beyond the Clouds, which is odd, given that my absolute favourite game in the series is Rayman 2. There weren't as many gimmicks in R3 as in R2, but there were still a sizeable amount and there are some memorable moments in the game which I absolutely enjoyed, such as the Razoff fight, or the snowboarding segment (practically the main reason why I love the Summit).

There is no denying that Rayman 3 has its flaws, like I said, the flanderisation of some characters, and the dialogue can hamper the experience, but when those are taken away, Rayman 3, at least to me, truly feels like Rayman should.

Rayman 3 was a amazing 3d title if you ask me, sometimes the jokes were a tad bit ehhh here and then, otherwise though a great game, ESPECIALLY in terms of gameplay, maybe it doesn't top Rayman 2, but the beautiful level design (The Fairy Council and such), and had DAMN great replayability due to its high score rankings which at times could actually make it pretty damn difficult.

I liked R3 more than R2. The somewhat black comedy never bothered me, because that happens to be my kind of sense of humor at most parts. The storyline should've been worked more on though.

I agree, I rather enjoyed the humour in Rayman 3 quite a bit. I dare almost call Rayman 3 more fun than Rayman 2, but Rayman 2 is just so perfect in everything that it does. They aren't really comparable in a way since the way in which they're played is dry different.

Rayman 3, other then it's huge replayability, I just wish the game could have been just a little longer, I got to admit. I agree here 100%, I truly think Rayman 3 is NEARLY better then 2, the environments carried out and such, it's all breathtaking for a decently old game (I can say this for every Rayman game though), I think Rayman 3 out of the trilogy might have brang out the most beautiful environments of any Rayman game, it just somewhat felt a little short is all, I still prefer Rayman 2.

I agree with Master. I honestly think that Rayman 2 is better than Rayman 3, but then, the opinions vary. I think they exagerated a little in the humour, but that's probably because it isn't my kind of humour. I think R2 had a more inteligent humour. And if you optate to ignore the scoring system, R3 is by far the shortest game of all the four. On the other hand, I like R3's graphism and how it attempts to keep the atmosphere of the previous games, more noticibly in the Fairy Council, the Land of the Livid Dead and the Longest Shortcut. Resuming, both games have different approaches in gameplay so its a little difficult to judge.

Well i was trolling. R3 was not bad at all.
It just i have a bit enough of the whining for a new 3d.

Didn't sound very much like trolling, but I'll let it pass.
There's little whining around here in the wanting of a 3D game, there's no denying that some of us would like for there to be a new 3D title some time, but we're not going to stoop down to whining.

Until there we can always follow Adsolution's project, that looks quite promising as a fangame done almost all alone. ;)

I think there's a pretty high chance of there being a future 3D game, but not one that resembles R2 or R3 sadly. As much as it saddens me to say it, I don't think there is room for an equivalent R2 or R3 platformer in today's market. Things have moved on.

A 3D RO/RL style perhaps? Not sure why, but something like that doesn't sound right, but we'll just wait and see.

Possibly something similar. Maybe a spinoff game with a selection of smaller games or minigames, like RRR. Who knows?

Market could change again, though. If cost of game production would fall significantly, for example, consequences are unforeseeable.
