Re: Rayman Legends
@Stan and Sergio
After reading your new posts (and doing some research on the internet) I start thinking this could have been a really bad idea for whoever got this idea of delaying the Wii U version: I see more complains about this than happy people with the release of the ports. This will end up pretty bad in terms of profit. I see a lot of people talking about buying GTA V instead of RL, people canceling pre-orders, etc. But... Now that this happened it isn't too late for them to fix this mistake? I start wondering if people will take this as a really bad joke if they again change the release date for lets say, April 2013? Just me saying you know. Its really sad to see this happening since I also don't deny that it litterally ruined some plans I had for the end of Spring with the game.
@Ad Not even PlayStation Move in the PS3 version? Well its also useless to talk about the Kinect of course knowing how "greatly" it works with compactible games.

Neither of those are suitable for precise movement and pointing, so nope.Haruka wrote:@Ad Not even PlayStation Move in the PS3 version? Well its also useless to talk about the Kinect of course knowing how "greatly" it works with compactible games.
Re: Rayman Legends
OK then, then I retire my question.
Re: Rayman Legends
Don't worry, Wii U owners! Ubisoft still loves you more, because Wii U owners will receive a special, exclusive... demo!
Yay.
Yay.
Re: Rayman Legends
Lets be positive and thinking that a Collector's Edition can be released.

Ugh.
This matter has been a disappointing and odd one indeed.
So, positive thinking...I guess Ubi should show more of RL at E3 and other conventions, but given that it's practically done...

Bullshit. The game is done, I don't want trailers, I want the freaking game in my hands now. PS360 owners can wait.

Ad is right - the PC (and others) port would be a logical choice for the touch screen controls for Murfy. I think the main reasoning behind that is that they wanted the WiiU people to feel special by giving them a neat little gimmick that no one else had.
Re: Rayman Legends
I've discussed this at length before, so I'm actually going to repeat a lot of what I said previously.stan423321 wrote:Neither Steam or Origin seem to be in very wrong state right now (although it seems like Valve has legal problems in Germany - and this has potential to save the day). The idea is horrible for us, but it won't make the giants bankrupt. In fact it wouldn't even make their console divisions bankrupt, In "best" scenario, they could promise a software update after 10 years that removes the restriction, or offer some kind of "Rebuyer Pass".Haruka wrote:If they apply those things, they are preparing for epic losses of money and probably bankruptcy. They'll only go forward with that if they're stupid enough. Imagine how unfair it is for people that can't find the game anymore in retail shops and yet not being able to buy from other people because used games don't work ever more? Imagine that the years passed and Retro Gaming collectors want to play it but they simply can't? Its really concerning since the prices of just released games aren't quite inviting nowadays.Slogbait wrote:anti-used games protection rumours
Steam and Origin don't deal with physical copies of games. On Steam and Origin, you're paying for constant access for the game. The games will still be there years later and will remain available to anyone with an account for years to come. Xbox and PS3, on the other hand, while they do deal with dlc, they primarily deal with physical copies of games. The problem with physical copies is that there is a limited number of them. With used games, it allows other people to play games that came out so long ago they’re no longer in production. They can get games that they were not able to get until years after the game came out. Unless they do something like the software update or a "Rebuyer Pass" like you suggested, this means only a limited people worldwide will ever get a chance to play a game due to it's limited availability.
This means the only time you’ll be able to buy a used copy will be if something happens to your disc because you'll still have the game itself activated within the console. Hopefully, some other person had gotten their copy, used up the activation code, and discovered, “Oh hey, I actually don’t like this game.” then traded it in or something assuming stores will actually take back a game that can only be played by other people who bought the game and already used their activation code. If anything happens to either (assuming the activation code is only tied to your specific console) your console or (assuming he activation code is only tied to an account you have) your account, you just lost that $60 you paid for the damn game.
And then I feel bad for the poor fool who didn’t know you had to buy the game new to play it on their console, so they go out and find this game made years ago they couldn’t afford at the time, take it home to play it, and NOPE you can’t play this because someone else has played it before! Haha, sorry but you lose!
Also, yes, I know even without activation physical games are still in limited numbers. But you see, the thing is, with past games when you finally got tired of a game you’ve had since it came out, you could put it up for sale or trade it in so someone else out there who didn’t get to play it because either they couldn’t afford it at the time or, heck, they didn’t even exist at the time could experience the game for (presumably) the first time.
This used to be one of the main complaints of PC gaming, and it's still a complaint for general software with limited-use activation codes.
In the end, selling console games with a one time use activation code is a complete rip off for console gamers. You'd be much better off just getting the game on Steam for a lower price and knowing so long as you have your account you can play that game as many times as you want for as long as you want. Too many complications will arise, and your sales will plummet because not everyone can afford a brand new copy and making the games so exclusive are likely to drive away your customers anyways. Of course they won't go bankrupt. The companies are far too big for just console gaming to ruin them. However, it will still have a pretty significant impact on their profits, I can assure you.

Re: Rayman Legends
Thanks for the informations, but Xavier Poix never would say something like thissergiomonty wrote:Rayman Legends dev not happy with delay, blasts Ubisoft for long hours, says don't pick on the game
I completely understand you but you have to understand one thing. This is not a decision taken by the development team, this comes from really really high up, so please don't pick on the game.
If you're pissed, imagine how we feel. Think on the situation, we've been making overtime with this game practically since May preparing E3, and then almost a demo per month (gamescon, Wii U presentation, shops, eShop, etc...) and at the same time trying to actually finish the game. We had a first delay because it was obvious we couldn't finish on time but we gave it all to be there on February. What face do you think we had when the week we had to close the game we're being told it's not going to be released? I couldn't believe it.
For practical matters, you'll have to wait for some months for the game to be released and will most likely serve for more content to be added and do it better. For us, this means we've spent 6 months barely seeing our wifes, kids, and friends for nothing because, after all, such a haste wasn't needed. Believe it, it was a hell to swallow these news.
Even then I'm firm in what I said back in the day, Rayman Legends is an excellent game and will still be, and the team that's making it doesn't deserve to have your back turned on them just because some men in ties one day took a wrong choice. This industry is really that shitty. - Xavier Poix

He/she describes visiting E3 with Ubisoft last year while working on Rayman Legends and previous projects at Ubisoft Montreal, such as Rainbow Six: Vegas and Far Cry 2. Several recent posts allude to the news of yesterday's delay.

Hmm...the guy on stage was "Michael Micholic"....or Xavier was someone of the players.......but surly not Xavier Poix.
Anyway Xavier Poix told this official crap:
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/02/07/ ... -exclusive“When we saw all the comments when we announced the game would be focused on Wii U, all of the people that have both the PlayStation 3 and 360 were really disappointed,” Poix told IGN. “So we thought it was making more sense to also bring the game to where it was originally from. That means Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. So we decided to go for a multiplatform launch simultaneously.”

Wait... are we getting a new demo? well... I guess that will heal my heart... temporarily. Probably, this the levels will be Dangerous Swarms/Orchestral Chaos/the Olympus world with the flying shield. If we're lucky, we may get Rockin' Grannies too.
Ok... I guess I'll be ok, as long as the demo comes out soon. That's better ubisoft... your initial decision still sucked, tho.

Re: Rayman Legends
All this rage is giving me sads. I didn't ever want to say that I'm ashamed to be in this fandom, but I think these turn of events are pushing me towards that.
Gonna try not to comment on this since the likes of Haruka and Claraknight have already said what I've wanted to- very nicely at that, so I'll just put it at this:
To the people raging their heads off: calm your bloomin' tits and let's all go for ice cream.
I'm not saying people can't be disappointed, but ffs the anger circulating around this is just downright silly.

Delayed?
Fuck. So am I correct when I say there is a completed Rayman game being put on hold just so they can port it to other consoles?

PS360 versions won't have Murphy in it, tho.
Re: Rayman Legends
Doesn't the Wii U already have a crapload of RL demos as it is? By the time RL finally comes out for the Wii U, most of the game is going to be available to play through demo! Then where will all of the fun and surprises be?
Re: Rayman Legends
Personally, I don't plan to buy RL either way unless it gets a PC release NKNKNNK, but if I were going to then I'd prefer some content than none at all. After all, the delay is only so soon before the game was expected to be released.Slogbait wrote:Doesn't the Wii U already have a crapload of RL demos as it is?
