Re: General Pokémon Thread
Yeah something like that... Sylveon looks adorable though.. like most eeveelutions do.. I do not even care if they make 10 more to be honest, they are adorable 6.9

Re: General Pokémon Thread
I'm more curious about the setting at the moment, the designs don't interest me at the moment
Re: General Pokémon Thread
Lets bet the type?
Flying.
Flying.
Re: General Pokémon Thread
I figure it's going to either be Normal, Flying, or a potentially new typing. I don't see why they would hide the type of Sylveon if it was something that already existed, because they had revealed the types for Espeon, Umbreon (who had a new type at the time, even), Leafeon, and Glaceon when they were initially announced... or at least made it obvious to figure out. This is the first Eeveelution they didn't reveal the type immediately.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
This is the Normal type eevee^ the new one is most definitely flying type i bet 1000 tings on it.
Re: General Pokémon Thread
Yes, but Eevee has lower stats than all its evolved forms because it's unevolved. If Eevee were to evolve into another normal type, it would have the same stats as the rest of the Eeveelutions.
In short, Eevee is weak and not as fit for battle as its evolved forms. Normal type trainers could benefit from a normal type Eeveelution.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
If it's going to be a new type, what do you guys think? There are rumors about a light type. I was thinking about a cute type but I thought it was kind of a stupid idea.

I can't wait to hear the new Eevee forms- I'm hoping for a flying and a ghost type.

I find the whole idea behind a new type to be absurd simply because it's un-needed.Puruun wrote:If it's going to be a new type, what do you guys think? There are rumors about a light type. I was thinking about a cute type but I thought it was kind of a stupid idea.
I do believe Sylveon will be a flying type, and on top of that I think that if they release a second eeveelution then it'd be a ground type.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
I find your assumption ill-conceived simply because, technically speaking, everything in this video game business is un-needed, and especially mechanic updates in most sequels to good games. Yet they happen.Serza5 wrote:I find the whole idea behind a new type to be absurd simply because it's un-needed.
That said, the Sylveon thingy seems to indeed be a flying type, but given my relative Pokemon noobiness, I have no idea, actually. The fact that Nintendo markets it as ???-type suddenly decreased my misbelief in idea of new type introduction.
Re: General Pokémon Thread
Like I'd said in a different forum in regards to a possible new type:
Well, the entire point of adding new shit is to keep competitive fresh and the games interesting even if it's the same general formula over and over. The introduction of a new type will force people to adapt their strategy, especially this late in the game.
With a game like Pokemon, new stuff needs to constantly be introduced or it won't sell. Not that many people are going to stay with a franchise that never improves or modifies the mechanics of a game purely based on strategy.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
That statement is pretty darn ironic considering the vast amount of nostalgia fags in this fanbase.Slogbait wrote: Not that many people are going to stay with a franchise that never improves or modifies the mechanics of a game purely based on strategy.
Anyway while I understand that it's adding something new to the game adding a new type isn't all that exciting? Aye it'd be new but it's not going to vastly improve the game mechanics nor be anymore original than adding an Ice Cream pokemon into the game. I do admit my previous post wasn't right but I still can't see them adding a new type unless they somehow manage to make the typing in-balanced like it was back in Gen 1 (As in, have really overpowered types like psychics).
Re: General Pokémon Thread
Hahaha, the nostalgiafags in the Pokemon fanbase piss me off. They complain at the announcement of every new gen, then go out and buy the game anyways only to bitch more about how much it's not like the classics.
And yeah, it's not particularly exciting, but it'll be fun completely changing your strategy to accommodate for the new type. Definitely opens up a lot more possibilities, though if they go back and change pre-existing Pokemons' types to integrate the new type its going to be pretty frustrating having to relearn how to battle with those Pokemon who may potentially gain new advantages and weaknesses. At this point, I don't think originality is nearly as much of a concern as keeping the game interesting for long term fans and new fans alike.
Psychic types were completely fucking broken up until the special/physical split in gen 4 god damn it was always annoying battling people with a team full of nothing but Alakazams and shit uggh

Re: General Pokémon Thread
Am I the only one that has got a thing for Psychic PKMN? Lets admit, if you had a Psychic PKMN (well trained) in Gen I, you were nearly unbeatable. Alakazams were terribly good in Sp.Att. but terribly weak in Def. and HP.Slogbait wrote:Psychic types were completely fucking broken up until the special/physical split in gen 4 god damn it was always annoying battling people with a team full of nothing but Alakazams and shit uggh
My team in Gen I: Blastoise, Hypno, Rhydon, Dragonite, Electabuzz and Charizard.
Re: General Pokémon Thread
But that' exactly the thing, Haruka. In Gen 1 there was only one special stat and it covered both special attack and special defense. Alakazams had an incredibly high special stat and they were fast. Psychic types were only weak to bug and ghost attacks, and the only bug type attacks that did damage were too weak to make a difference, and even then the only pokemon that could learn them were still slower than Alakazam. Ghost moves, on the other hand, there was only one and that was nightshade, which has a fixed amount of damage. The only ghost pokemon in the game had poison as a second typing, making psychic attacks super effective against them. The only way to stand up against a psychic type in Gen 1 is with another psychic type, and whichever one has the higher stats or better luck (critical hits) wins.
I've never been a fan of psychic types. My favourite was always poison. My Gen 1 team is: Jolteon, Golbat, Rhydon, Hypno, Arcanine, and Dewgong.
Though, I like my Gen 2 team better, even if it only has 5 instead of the usual 6. Typhlosion, Slowking, Ampharos, Hitmontop, Crobat.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
I would be a bigger fan of Poison if they weren't that vulnerable with psychic and ground attacks.
But concerning Alakazam's speed, isn't Scyther with close or better speed stats? I think at the time he was a great opponent for Alakazams.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
Yeah, it is a very unfortunate disadvantage, especially with how popular psychic and ground types are in competitive.
And no. Scyther's base stat for speed is 105, while Alakazam's is 120. In Gen 1, Scyther's special stat was 55, while Alakazam's was 135. Alakazam could easily take a Scyther down in Gen 1.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
Its a shame since he was one of the fastest bugs of Gen I. Scyther is my favourite bug PKMN.
