Quick question for those of you still with me:
How do you feel about the difficulty of the original Rayman game and how has it effected your general opinion of the game?
(Be honest.)

Yikes! Sorry about the double post!
Curse you iPhone and your tenancy to make me feel like an idiot!

The game's difficult, no doubt about it.
It took me 10 years to complete the game, but I never relented, the game, despite the hellishly difficult levels in Picture City, exudes a charm that makes it...difficult to stay mad at. I've completed the game at last, but I've not actually gone back to it, methinks I'm satisfied still, but, chances are, I'll probably play it again eventually.
All in all, despite the difficulty, one should not shy away from the game, it is fun, and beating it is ever more sweet.

Personally, I never found the game extremely difficult as many say, I always enjoyed its level design that was much more explored later in Rayman Designer and 60 Levels. However, I believe that many players never completed the game because they couldn't master some complex tasks, like for example calculating the coordinate for the edge ability ability to work and using jumps in order to avoid the slippery paths, but those are things that players that are used to platforming should master it with no big issues.

If anything, the difficulty actually made the game more appealing to me. Because it was challenging, even with the cop out ending I felt like I really accomplished something. Like Master4lyf, it took me roughly 10 years before I finally beat the game after a week long binge when I was 15. I, however, have revisited the game many times since because I enjoy re-experiencing everything and knowing that I am capable of completing the game. And, like Haruka said, if you're used to platforming the game should be pretty easy to get used to. I can see why the difficulty would turn so many people away from completing the game, but it really is a shame they don't want to challenge their skills.

I also feel like some of the difficulty is false, though. Having to 100% the game in order to get to the final level is probably why a lot of people never saw the game through to the end. Replaying some of the harder levels can become a chore if you haven't mastered the gameplay because you'll use up all your lives in the same handful of areas over and over again until you finally get the timing just right just to get a single cage you missed earlier. I have no qualms with this, though, because it encourages the player to earn the ending, even if it's really anti climactic.

plotlineplus wrote:NEW IMPORTANT QUESTION!

-What do you think of each Rayman design. (Starting with the original.)
How did I miss this? Well here I go:

-Rayman 1: The overall design of this game just made me feel really at home, it was clean, colorful, and crisp. It was fresh, very fresh, when I say there were millions of platformers out there competing, Mario, Sonic, etc., none of them take the cake as much as Rayman could for me. The character himself on R1 didn't have much of a personality compared to the new Rayman games, but he was a child during that era, and it made Raymans personality, all the more fitting for the game its self. The beauty of the game its self, it's such a gem for vintage game collectors and of course Rayman fans to collect, Rayman 1 shall always remain my favorite, for being the most charming, most stylish platformer ever. The huge challenge of the game I found great, I wasn't too fond of the PC version of R1, but the ps1 or Saturn version I'd say was the best version for its absolutely incredible experience in music and sound. The game had such a bright atmosphere and it's enviornment felt immersive, if Rayman 1's content wasn't enough for you, there are MILLIONS of other games in the Rayman 1 universe, Rayman Designer, Rayman gold, Rayman Brain games, it goes on for quite a while. As for the character cast you have many awesome characters who look similar to Rayman but have there own unique personality like Tarayzan of the Dream Forest.

-Rayman 2: A phenomenal example of a sequel done right. It was a big turn, a very unexpected one since at the time, Rayman 2 was originally going to be a 2d game... was this 3d change for the better, or not? Who knows, all I can say is Rayman 2 did EVERYTHING right, similar to the first, deciding whether I liked Rayman 2 over 1, was a tricky decision. Rayman 2 was absolutely beautiful, it's story and overall art style was COMPLETELY different from the first, and it was a great decision if you ask me. Some people out there, don't like big changes, but Rayman 2 was drastically changed from 1, in a GOOD way, I can't find any flaw with Rayman 2 or 1, it was THE perfect game. The cast of Rayman 2 I actually liked more then 1 (I still like 1 for the better atmosphere in general), Rayman 2 introduced us to many wacky, charming, and even lovable new characters, such as Clark, Ssssammm, Jano, Polokus, and more! Rayman 2 had a significant amount of ports, some ports really didn't live up to the true charm of Rayman 2, as I believe the Dreamcast version of Rayman 2 is the best way to showcase it towards someone. Rayman 2 really had a charming atmosphere, and introduced a new feel of 'adventure' towards me in gaming, the game felt extremely adventurous, and it felt awesome breaking into pirate ships, freeing all your friends, and so on. The game was very dark in comparison to Rayman 1, especially its story, this was a good thing though, it really is what made Rayman 2 totally stick out from the trilogy. Rayman 1 and 2, just... man oh man, there will never be a game out there ever that will top these 2 amazing gems.

-Rayman Arena/M: I don't have much to say about this game considering the fact it is a spinoff, nonetheless the game was great, it introduced 2 new characters who oddly enough I weren't too fond of, Razorwife and Tily, for a spinoff, the game holds nearly as good as Rayman 1 and 2, if you have a Rayman friend with you, play Arena. The game was split into Racing and Battling, Racing mode was extremely done well, the only little problem I had was how easy the cpu's got if you know the track by heart. And then there is the battle mode, which I personally like more, where you battle each other of course, it's very competitive, yet very fun. I could go on for RA for a while- but the game is nothing too special compared to the Original trilogy, still an awesome game.

-Rayman 3: A huge leap this was, many, MANY new elements, and a beautiful environment that REACHES nearly as good as Rayman 1 and 2, that is saying a lot considering my love for Rayman 1 and 2. This is the game that completed the original trilogy, that made it so incredible. Where do I start? To start, the story is quite dark, BUT, Rayman 3 adds something new to the twist, this is humor, the humor in Rayman 3 had me laughing at times, the jokes were well written, however they do get old at times. As for gameplay, MY GOD, I don't know where to start with this one... the gameplay I think tops Rayman 2 here, Rayman 2 may have brung a better atmosphere then 3, and better overall design, but the gameplay/combat in Rayman 3 was TIGHT as hell, it was so fresh and so well done, the lock-on is incredibly well done, and really awesome, making the overall feel of the game fantastic. But what I say actually did SLIGHTLY better then the combat its self is the enviornments the game brung out, the game felt like a Tim Burton movie at times, each world really had its own unique brilliant style. The game somewhat felt like Rayman 1 and 2 combined, the game had very vibrant worlds, and a dark story mixed in. We're introduced to the evil that is known as the dark lums which causes complete Havoc (hence the title). You're introduced to really wacky new enemies in this game, such as Begoniax, and Razoff. The game had so much to keep you playing for DAYS, among WEEKS, you have really awesome minigames you can unlock, and a scoring system which lets you compete against others, which can be really fun competition. Rayman 3 I felt was just a little short, even with its massive way to create new combos/scores, for some reason I feel as if- the game had few things untouched, and could have shown them in a way, either way, Rayman 3 does not match 2 or 1 for that matter, but it certainly is NEARLY as awesome and phenomenal. The game though in some way felt a tad bit demonic- I mean, jokes aside, the Hoodlums themselves, even the Knaarens look kind of frightening. XD

-Rayman Origins: After the massive onslaught of Raving Rabbid Titles, this was really tiring out us Rayman fans. But once upon a time during E3, to our surprise, a long awaited hero made a return, Rayman was back in a NEW 2D platformer. When first seeing the trailer I jumped with joy, I was afraid we wouldn't see our hero make a return but he did! I pre-ordered the game and got it on day 1, I couldn't miss out on this. The big question here is can it match up to be the BEST Rayman game I have ever played? This was a tricky decision for me, it took many playthroughs for me to finally figure this out. Rayman Origins brings out new wacky enemies, and the Bubble dreamer, the game goes for a MUCH more sillier approach in the series. The game itself REALLY stood out from the entire trilogy, making it very unique, The environments it brung out were beautiful, heck, NEARLY as good as Rayman 1, but the real question here is if I liked Rayman 1 so much even MORE then Rayman Origins- then what is the problem with Origins as to why I don't like it better then Rayman 1- well its silliness, being pretty cool that it is at times, it went a little too deep with the silliness, of course there is no problem with that, but the HUGE problem of Origins was it had no story, the mysterious yet incredible story of Rayman 1, the very incredibly dark and immersive story of Rayman 2, and finally the very silly, yet dark story of Rayman 3 can not compare to Origins. Origins has no story, really- there is a BIT of a story there, but not as much. But enough of me talking about what I didn't like about the game, that is all I didn't like about the game, it's empty story. The game being all silly, it's 2D gameplay was perfected, and really was tight as ever, the way you can kick your enemies in air, the game had some really slippery controls, but in A GOOD way, a slipper way that feels tight as all hell (that sounds wrong, but ignore that XD), the gameplay it's self was just a PERFECT return for Rayman, and spawned many newcomer Rayman fans- this was an awesome thing. As usual, like every Rayman game, the world truly stood out, and were extremely beautiful, the whole game is based around art and the very beautiful style makes it an awesome return for Rayman- we could NEVER ask for anything more. The fact that you can now play as the Teensies (You could play as them in Arena as well), in a legitimate Rayman game was awesome, and I may go as far as to saying this is the BEST Rayman game to play with friends, the game focuses widely on co-op and does it well! If you want to see the games full true beauty go for the Vita, PC, PS3, Or xbox 360 version, it's a wonderful example of how a gaming protagonist should return.

edit: How do I feel about the difficulty of Rayman 1, it's truly not that hard, but I've played it millions of times, so that's easy for me to say.

This really took me a long time to type, I'd appreciate if you cut some of the parts of this into your video please. :)

Oh ho ho!!! I hope you know that I'm keeping that part about the SLIPPERY gameplay being TIGHT as hell in there. >:D

But although you made some valid points, fantastic ones at that, you kinda misunderstood the question. XD
"What do you think of Rayman's design" meant the characters own visual design. How his look has changed over the years.

Ah, misunderstood I did... sorry about that. I'll make this one short. When you said "What do you think of Rayman's design" I thought you ment the games, but not the character himself. To start it off Rayman has always been an interesting character (Not counting the RRR series which he is just a complete coward here), I find it interesting, because if you truly think about it... his personality is rather different through out the trilogy... Rayman 1, he is young, and a mute, and the look of him is extremely friendly. Rayman 2 is when Rayman now talks, and he becomes more serious, and is more grown up. Rayman 3 is a little similar to Rayman 2 in that case. The change for Rayman shows how much he growed up, and the change for Rayman is what makes the trilogy stand up so much. It's a very cool evolution seeing this, and it is again, what makes the games from the trilogy stand out.

Lel.

Rayman 1's design I found rather cute in a way, I might have to say that its my second favourite. Being a fan of Don Bluth's animation, I've always liked that slightly googly-eyed look. Everything being round and balloonish gave it a sense of innoscence and storybook magic which I really liked.

Rayman 2's is my favourite. In my opinion, this is where his design was perfected. He had a country look to him with the neckerchief, and his more and shaped angular design felt the most eyecatching. I especially like the hair the most in this version; he looks like he has just the right amount of maturity and just the right amount of kiddishness to make him, in my eyes, the perfect design.

Rayman 3's design I really didn't like much. It felt very clumsy, and it honestly made him look like a douche.

Rayman Origins' design I think is what Rayman 3 was going for. I don't like it as much as the original design (from the first and second games), but he definitely has a more slender appearance to him. Oddly, I've grown to see this design as strangely more adult, given his taller stature and thicker hair; I can picture this design to be the design of a more grown up Rayman.

Sorry for any silly typos, I'm on my iPhone.

I feel you there. Damn iPhone.
But yeah, Rayman 3's design screamed "Revamped for the millennia!"
The hoodie and such kind of neutered his original charm.
Yet I was still thankful for the change because it actually looked like hair. The problem with Rayman 2's design was that, frankly, he looked like a bunny.
I couldn't show him to ANYONE without them making that stupid comparison. Rayman 1 at least had that third hair piece. But it didn't look right in 3D space. I love everything about his old designs. They're just not practical. And I respect that.

The Rayman 1 design was my favorite, for mostly the reasons Adsolution stated.

I'll be honest : I tested Rayman 1 on PS1 when I was a 7 year-old boy (nowadays I'm 21 :p so long...) and the difficulty of the game disgusted me as hell :/. I never touched it again, my bad. Fortunately I came back to Rayman with the second one. However, I haven't been playing the first one for years because of its high level of difficulty for me. I know that many people of our community don't understand and find it very challenging, and I think I will give it another chance sooner or later.

i don't know if I already answered to the question of Rayman's design through the games, but I can't find the best for me between R1 R2 and R3 (RO's Rayman is mainly adapted from R3's). Each one has its own particularities and well done things. Maybe that as I grown up with the character and played it at different stages of my life, I don't really find that one is better than the others because when I played them the design was well appropriated to the moment.

Alright, here is another optional question for those of you who haven't gotten tired of writing random crap.

What is your favorite Rayman memory?
Christmas morning?
Fun with friends?
Something funny on this forum?
Whatever you can think of!
(This probably wont be in the video)

My favourite Rayman memory is probably when I first met him. That moment was so special that I never forget it.

Memories...hmm.
Well, let's start with Rayman 1.
I remember how difficult it was, and the fact that I once exchanged saves with some relatives who'd gotten further, in an attempt to boost progress.
I also remember using a certain password that gave access to all worlds, except Candy Chateau (As no cages were gotten).
Of course, the greatest, and sweetest memory of all, was when I legitimately saw the credits roll for the first time...after ten years.

Rayman 2 (PS1, my first) the one that sticks at the most, and my fondest memory of the franchise, is when I suggested to him to hit the crystals in the Jano chase, it seems so obvious now, but when I figured that out for the first time then, blimey, did I feel smart.
There was also the time when we'd finally reached Axel, me and my siblings took in turns to try and beat him, and then, we did, and progressed further.
Also, not exactly a stick out memory, but I remember having breakfast once while in the Lava tower in the Sanctuary of Rock and Lava, no idea why I remember that, but I do.
Then the was the time I was at a gathering, and I'd brought my copy of Rayman 2 to play with some of the fellows there, to show off, I played the Crows Nest, and beat Razor.

Rayman 2 (PC) Of course, I was confused as heck when I played this version, what with the differences and all, but hey, it was still enjoyable.
I actually struggled with this version's iteration of the Crows Nest, and didn't beat it until a while after.
Then there was the time I discovered the Tomb Of the Ancients (Part 2) has that shortcut, which skipped the zombie chicken and spider segments, having played the PS1 version (which didn't have that shortcut), this was a rather intriguing discovery to have made.
Then there was the time that I played The Sanctuary Of Water and Ice, for as simple as the level was, it remains to this day one of my favourite in Rayman 2, and I have no idea why, methinks it could be the music.

Rayman 3
I remember when my parents said we were getting a PS2, and they asked me and my siblings which games we wanted, naturally, I wanted Rayman 3.
This was also around the time we were introduced to the internet, and I discovered Raymanzone, I never joined the forums there, internet safety and all, but I was able to browse about and look at the content there, such as the E-Cards, images and of course, Trailers, which made me learn more about Rayman 3, and got me all the more excited for it, this one in particular:

It's a shame Rayman 3 didn't go with the tone of this trailer, because this one had more of a dark feel more akin to Rayman 2.
Anyway, when we got our PS2, we were at my grandparents, so we took it there, and tried out the games, of course, Rayman 3 was amongst them, we actually got as far as the 2nd teensie highway, and had a blast doing it. Of course, my gaming skills back then weren't exactly as good, so we got many game overs along the way.
Then there was also that time we were stuck in the flood level in the Hoodlum Headquarters, and I beat it, considering back then, my brother was more likely to be the one to beat segments like this, it certainly made me quite happy.
We were once having fish and chips in the evening, and I was playing the final boss in the airship, and I think I beat it, though I'm not too sure...

And now, we come to Rayman Origins.
It was a blast to play, but apart from the chase with the magician at the end, I have to say, I really can't remember much from my time playing it.

My favourite Rayman memory was definitely the first time I finally beat Rayman 1. I've had many great memories, but the senses of accomplishment I felt once I beat the first game was enough to make it my absolute favourite moment. A close second was probably when I found another working copy of R3HH and actually got to play it from start to finish. I had always loved the games, but finishing the original trilogy really tied everything together for me.
