Re: Rayman Legends
Although Ubisoft is releasing the game on a bad month, as that is when GTA 5 and the next CoD are released. Because of that, Rayman Legends is probably going to get bad sales, like Rayman Origins did, and if it gets bad sales, we can say goodbye to Rayman!

What makes you say that?Henchman1028 wrote:we can say goodbye to Rayman!
Re: Rayman Legends
Rayman Origins also had a slow start, but Ubisoft did communicate that the game became profitable a few months later.

Also don't forget about Pokémon XY. Many people who have WiiU also have 3DS. And Pokémon XY is a more anticipated and long-awaited game as the first proper 3D instalment of the series. Plus I think there are a few others here and there. This year has such amazing games coming!

Because that's likely what would happen if it were to get bad sales. Why ask when the answer is literally in the same sentence as the one you're asking about?Minor-T5 wrote:What makes you say that?Henchman1028 wrote:we can say goodbye to Rayman!

Re: Rayman Legends
I just played the RL Demo yesterday because my friend has a WiiU and I am more than impressed with it. It would be a shame if it got poor sales because of the decision to release it multiplatform around the same time as other large titles. Maybe Ubisoft has a lot of faith in RL despite the other amazing games meant to come out around the same time as the new release date.

Re: Rayman Legends
let's not only talk about the amount of amazing games coming on september... let's remember that there's still lots of butthurt people still trying to boycott the game (yes, a lot of people don't care about free content or Watch Dogs).

Re: Rayman Legends
I just realised how amazing I find the graphics in this game. I mean, think about it: most of the beautiful artwork was hand-drawn, effects 'n all. Outstanding.

I realized that since... you know... Rayman Origins.

Re: Rayman Legends
Of course Origins was amazing - I've thought that many times before - but look at how much more evolved the graphics now are! There's real depth in some of those drawings and the shading and dynamic lighting is simply sublime.
I can say this in all honesty, because the artstyle itself doesn't really appeal to me - and so I can pick out what I do think are pros.

Re: Rayman Legends
I think the art may be so good that it doesn't look hand-drawn anymore, or even like sprites. While I am very impressed with the graphics (lighting effects especially), it doesn't have the same charm to me as the obviously sprite-based Origins.
Re: Rayman Legends
Oh no no no, it certainly does look hand drawn. Or rather, painted. The game looks a lot better when actually played in my opinion. Looking at screenshots and such turned me away from the visuals of RL (I prefered the cel shading of the characters in RO) but actually playing it was a whole different experience in itself. I also love how in both RL and RO there are a lot of imperfections in the art. It gives everything a life of it's own.

Re: Rayman Legends
Indeed, I love the hand-drawn look of Legends a lot more than the almost hurriedly Photoshop-painted look of Origins. I still haven't changed my thoughts on that Origins had an incredibly messy (and ugly) colour pallet though, which Legends fixes for the most part.

Re: Rayman Legends
Yeah... by checking the sprites I can tell the designs in Origins were initially handrawn but then edited with photoshop. And yes, indeed, the sprites in Legends look painted. I particularly fell in love with the shading effects.
Re: Rayman Legends
The RL art is much better than RO, without any question. I also think that the backgrounds of RO feel earthling for most of the time, especially the jungle itself. It is disappointing.Adsolution wrote:Indeed, I love the hand-drawn look of Legends a lot more than the almost hurriedly Photoshop-painted look of Origins. Re: Rayman Legends
I kind of prefer the cel shading. It reminds me of 2D animated movies, most notably Disney, where the backgrounds have a painterly feel, but the animated objects are cel shaded. Legends' sprites look nice, but... I just feel that they go with the background a little too well, actually.

Re: Rayman Legends
I prefer the consistency of Legends really, the setting helps as well, I'm not too keen on the whole medieval thing, but the environments seem to give off a more magical vibe compared to the more, earthly vibe of RO.
