Re: Rayman Legends
This "new plot" isn't bad by any means, but lacks the same level of intrigue that the original story had. Plus everything established in the game so far makes no coherent sense and has no connection to the primary story whatsoever. Could this mean the game is shifting gears and taking a completely new direction? I really hope Ubisoft releases new details soon to explain this change.

Rayman is timeless: a being of pure, focussed energy without age.sergiomonty wrote:No, it's a 100 year nap... a "something" that has been sleeping for 100 years. But if your theory is right, then heck, how old is Rayman?
But if you really must know: 528. In reality he's 529; he always leaves out that extra year to come across as a younger fellow.
waitnowwhatinyourwhatnow? With the help of Murfy, Rayman and Globox awake and must now help fight these nightmares and save the Teensies!
Re: Rayman Legends
I'm glad I wasn't the only one wondering about the 100-years nap. What if 100 years in the Glade of Dreams are the equivalent to 1 year on Earth, or something like this? We shall not forget that 1 year in the Glade might not be the same as 1 year on Earth. It can be possible that the planet of the Glade does the translation to the two suns way faster than Earth in our known solar system, although we never had evidences or input about the solar system of the Glade of Dreams. Unless the characters and the Glade itself are freaking old and living much longer compared to earthlings.
Re: Rayman Legends
I honestly think the original painting idea was better. But this one seems like your typical Rayman game plot.

Re: Rayman Legends
Which is bad, how exactly?!
Maybe they measure their years by incrementing one every time they pass one of the two suns. Because they're binary, they'll also be rotating around each other, so in one 'orbit' of the planet, it may pass both the suns a number of times.Haruka wrote:It can be possible that the planet of the Glade does the translation to the two suns way faster than Earth in our known solar system.
Re: Rayman Legends
Has anyone noticed in this screenshot of RL that there is a shadow on the side of the platform the characters are standing on that resembles a Lividstone screaming, could it perhaps be a tortured prisoner (it is a dungeon after all) screaming in misery? Or the better question what is the creature, a Lividstone or something very similar, or perhaps a completely different being.

Re: Rayman Legends
It'd be amusing if the whole 100 year nap thing turns out to be played for laughs and hell just broke out during a brief hour long nap or something. I doubt that's what will happen, but then again that's essentially what happened in R3HH and RO. And RHR.
... and RRR GBA.
Maybe Rayman should just stop sleeping altogether because it seems every time he does sleep shit goes awry.

I feel like there's been worse in previous Rayman games.sergiomonty wrote:considering that the lower area is on fire, the prisoner must be... HOLY SHIT, THAT'S PRETTY DARK.

I find this pretty cool... and we've seen a giant bunny impaled on spikes while desperately wiggling in agony.Slogbait wrote:I feel like there's been worse in previous Rayman games.sergiomonty wrote:considering that the lower area is on fire, the prisoner must be... HOLY SHIT, THAT'S PRETTY DARK.

Re: Rayman Legends
I can't say I'm a huge fan of the story change, it just sounds like RO all over again.
Meh, I know the Rayman series isn't host to the most compelling storylines, but, at least they gave you some motivation towards your actions.

Re: Rayman Legends
I only fear that with this new delay, Ubisoft drastically changes things in the game again, like it happened with RO, where the E3 2010 concept was much better than the final one.
Re: Rayman Legends
I'm worried of the same thing. Considering the Wii U version was already done, or so we've been told, it seems like an awful idea to start changing the story so late in the game.

Re: Rayman Legends
What? They have simplified the story? Why do they always have to do that?
If they want to make the game baby-friendly, why don't they make the cutscenes skippable and be done with it? They don't need to completely remove the story...

Re: Rayman Legends
I really don't think the developers intended anything like this. It's unlikely that they've given any thought to how Earth's rotation and orbit correspond to those of Rayman's world. If they say the characters have been sleeping for a hundred years, that's what they mean, in the most straightforward way: they've been sleeping for a hundred years. Occam's razor.Haruka wrote:I'm glad I wasn't the only one wondering about the 100-years nap. What if 100 years in the Glade of Dreams are the equivalent to 1 year on Earth, or something like this? The Glade of Dreams will probably be quite different after a century under the rule of nightmares, but it's not like the world is consistent in the first place. It'll be interesting to see if the first level (or at least the opening sequence) takes place before the nightmares win. Maybe we'll get to see a more traditional Rayman world at the beginning. If previous games are anything to go by, everything will go back to normal by the end anyway.

The things we learn around here. Just went to inform myself what was this since I don't think we gave this in Philosophy classes.spiraldoor wrote:Occam's razor.
Well, it can be that too, that they mean that they slept for 100 years for real, but it unavoidably rises up questions concerning Rayman's age, the age of his friends or the whole planet itself.

Indeed it will! In all the other games, the world had been controlled by evil forces for only a short while and look what happened! In Rayman, it can't have been more than a couple of weeks - in Rayman 2, it could be anything from a couple of months to several years and in Rayman 3 it happened practically overnight. The state of the world was always completely overturned.spiraldoor wrote:The Glade of Dreams will probably be quite different after a century under the rule of nightmares, but it's not like the world is consistent in the first place. A hundred years is a long time for evil to be reigning... who knows what will have changed!

Re: Rayman Legends
I don't find myself enjoying watching fans delve deep into things like this as if the developers always had an answer in mind. Unless it's fanfiction or something of the sort being written, debate is pointless.
