Re: What games are you currently playing?
Rayfist, I completely agree with you, I haven't played Jak 1 and when I decided to start Jak 1 on the PS3 HD remake. I was was amazed. The level design, environments and graphics were so beautiful. And I felt ashamed as I didn't play it before. But I think I prefer Jak 3 gameplay wise, it was so challenging and fun, also the game had a pretty dark story.

Thanks much! Jak 3 I actually found pretty easy for some reason. Jak 2 though was certainly the most tough out of the trilogy I'd say.BzzitTheMoskito wrote:Rayfist, I completely agree with you, I haven't played Jak 1 and when I decided to start Jak 1 on the PS3 HD remake. Re: What games are you currently playing?
I too prefer Jak 2 and 3 over the first, thats mainly due to the characters, story and variety in missions though. I have to admit the first Jak is a beautiful game, I mean the atmospheric music, day and night sequences and smooth transition from "levels" was amazing for its time and still is today. Im hoping that if they eventually do make a real Jak 4 (I too hate the lost frontier I preordered that piece of crap too) they give us some more environments on the same league as Jak and Daxter. With the power of the Ps4, we surely would be able to explore Haven city, Kras City, Spargus but let us explore more colorful environments like forests and snowy mountains which are defiantly still present in Jaks world (sigh lost frontier did give us brief moments with these) despite some of the shit that has happened to it, I mean I though the desert was beautiful personally, im really curious to what other parts of Jaks world are left to explore. Just look at the "cutscenes" from psabr based on Jak and daxter, they fly through and awesome looking village reminiscent of Sandover village, meaning Jaks world is slowly but surely regaining its its former glory after the certain dark events that have took place!

Nipped it in the bud there, Rayfist.Rayfist wrote: I disliked Lost Frontier, the exploration element of Jak they took a huge shit on, making it so you travel around on a slow vehicle, rather then through an awesome dessert, or a futuristic city, they just take the concept of exploring and make it boring. As for the platforming parts I don't think they were too bad, but the story and Dark Daxter were just SO bad. It really killed it for me.
Dark Daxter embodies the worst of The Lost Frontier, to me at the least, it doesn't really make sense from a story point, given that Daxter was literally smothered in Dark Eco in the first game, why does he now decide to change into a dark form? Even though the Precursors said that Daxter was blessed by Dark Eco? The way it plays was...tolerable, but it felt like filler, and not upto scratch, it just felt like a half-arsed compromise for the lack of Dark Jak.
The plane flying, from an exploratory standpoint, was meh, considering what we were given in Jak 2 and 3, it feels lacklustre, that being said, I did enjoy the air combat, and I wouldn't mind that mechanic being brought back as a one off, similar to the War Factory segment in Jak 3.
The locales were kindof interesting, but the level design left a lot to be desired, while in Jak 2 and Jak 3, each area had its own linearity, they still had enough of an "openness" to them that made them feel expansive, the levels in TLF, not so much.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
High Impact games really messed up the lore, surely if Daxter was exposed to all that Dark eco (yet again..) wouldn't he have turned into a Dark maker aka Precursors which have been engulfed by Dark eco from Jak 3? Also I wouldn't mind some sort of air vehicle returning as a means of exploring a large portion of Jaks world if it handle d fine and was fun to use, it would be a great alternative to travel from city to city and whatnot instead of relying on those Haven air carriers.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I think one thing many want to see from the franchise, is to see Jak fulfill his duty as Mar, if he truly is the Mar.
Speaking of which, did anyone find it odd how we went from Jak/Kiera and Torn/Ashelin to Jak/Ashelin and then back?

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Yeah it was weird indeed, from what i remember in Jak 3 they lost the voice actress for Keira from the last 2 games, which is why she seems to be pushed to the side with very little dialogue or relevance to the plot. I think they then tried to bring Ashelin to the frontline as Jaks love interest hoping no one would mind or notice(tehe) but apparently many complained and thus in Jak X things went back to normal. I guess you can simply dismiss the kiss in Jak 3 as a "heat of the moment" sort of affair.

Meh, odd thing to do, but, it's resolved anyway.
I remember once reading an article that prior to the conception of The Last of Us, ND were considering a Jak 4, but decided to go elsewhere, I can't remember the reason why.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I know right weeeridd, but yeah you have to give Naughty Dog credit where its due, they did attempt to make a Jak 4 pretty much straight after Uncharted 2, many concepts were brought up and scrapped however they could only really do it using the engine which was used for Uncharted, this engine being pretty much incapable of creating cohesive "cartoony" worlds seen in the predecessors. Therefore Naughty Dog attempted to somewhat reboot the franchise making it realistic, Jak with out pointy ears and Daxter as a...a...mute.. Luckily they realized they were conjuring up an abomination worse than the lost frontier and stopped! Basically they couldn't come up with the sequel us fans desired so they have laid the frnachise to rest for now. Its weird though apparently the last of us is supposedly quite close to what the Jak and daxter reboot was going to be. Meaning Nathan jak and derp daxter would have been like Joel and Ellie in what i assume as a post apocalyptic earth fighting clickers... weird and disturbing..

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I can agree with most of your points. I just honestly disliked the plane flying parts, I found them to be VERY boring and slow. While traveling through the big open worlds of Jak 2 and 3 you can zoom through the city making it seem awesome. Of course since you're in the sky, it seems slow but is fast, either way I still find the environments that were delivered in Lost Frontier VERY bland and boring, it makes a mockery of the original trilogy.Master4lyf1 wrote:Nipped it in the bud there, Rayfist.Rayfist wrote: I disliked Lost Frontier, the exploration element of Jak they took a huge shit on, making it so you travel around on a slow vehicle, rather then through an awesome dessert, or a futuristic city, they just take the concept of exploring and make it boring. Random side note here: But does anyone remember Daxter for the PSP? I actually remember finding it pretty fun.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Ah, I still own it actually, perhaps I should play through it again.
'Twas actually pretty good, and although the game takes place mere days before the beginning of Jak 2, it was nice to get a glimpse as to what Daxter was upto, even if it were a mere small sliver of the two years.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Daxter was the first game I ever preordered, Ready At Dawn did a great job at bridging that small gap between Jak and Daxter- Jak 2 and overall the gameplay and story were great. I loved Daxters gadgets and it was great to see life in Haven city from the perspective of a shop owner and various others and of course Daxter. The minigames which pitted him in various movie roles were pretty damn awesome too!

The Matrix styled one being my favorite, haha.Bzzit wrote:Daxter was the first game I ever preordered, Ready At Dawn did a great job at bridging that small gap between Jak and Daxter- Jak 2 and overall the gameplay and story were great. Re: What games are you currently playing?
Haha yeah was insanely fun, the lord of the rings one with Daxter as Gandalf and a precursor robot in place of the Balrog was classic too! Would love to see them upgrade it in HD alongside Jak x, I havent been able to play those games in like 7 years, I still have my copy of Jak X but the my new model Ps2, corrupts jak X data making me unable to save... god damn why that game and not something horrific like Eternal ring
Probably will eventually download daxter for my Vita though

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I'd rather see Jak 1-3 make it on the vita. This unfortunately still remains a rumor, but the ESRB ratings had listed Jak and Daxter collection up on there site for Vita, which is why we think this is true. We'll have to wait until June I believe to see if this is true.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
Yeah it would be amazing to play them on the go, they will look gorgeous indeed! Hopefully this means I get to platinum all 3 again ( though there is one challenge in Jak 2 I just cant do no matter how hard I try therefore I have to glitch for the remaining precursor orbs, yes I suck but Jak 2 can be so challenging at times) This is great news though if it does happen to become true, it shows Sony still cares about this franchise and knows fans are still begging for more, Im hoping this is all leading up to the eventual reveal of Jak 4 at E3 but Im not sure, Naughty Dog are probably working on uncharted 4.. but still....
Re: What games are you currently playing?
Oh man I'm looking forward to this, SR: The Third was amazing.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I've lost hope for Naughty Dog myself, people go on about how Uncharted is a great game, but I don't have the drive to play it. I'm pretty much done with ND unless they pull another Jak out of their arse. If Jak 4 ever comes out, I might give the Uncharted series a try as well, but untill then it's a no-go for me.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I'm currently playing Dillon's Rolling Western on my 3ds. Have you heard about it, guys? it's on the eshop for only $8 and it's a GREAT Tower defense-mixed with-adventure-rpg game. Actually... it's a Nintendo first party game! Yeah, Nintendo keeps making new IP's (then ironically people complain about the lack of Nintendo IP's) and nobody gives a shit because fans are just waiting for Metroid, Zelda and Mario.
The game has...like... sucked my entire life... and they're releasing a sequel in 3 days! IT HAS A SNIPER SQUID
THEREFORE INSTABUY
There have been rumours that Dillon will appear in the next Smash Bros. Seems fair to me... Nintendo hasn't created anything that compelling for a fighting game for a long time... or maybe... Cooking Mama? Dr. Kawashima's floating head from Brain Age?... lol nope.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
I heard about that game since Nintendo was sending a notification to my 3DS once.
EDIT: I just finished Croc 2 (Game Boy Color) in the normal way (not the complete way) and I must say I'm pretty much disappointed with the game. Confusing level design, repetitive, dull, you're almost always attacked in stupid ways, frustrating, you can die easily, no checkpoints, unforgiving precision in controlling Croc in the game... It is sad for me to say this since I love Croc games, but I would have prefered that this version for Game Boy Color didn't exist.
I'm not sure if it is worth my time aiming for all the Gobbo Trophies knowing how poor the game design is but from what I saw I only unlock the alternative ending.
