Dude, Naughty Dog are still one of the best developers around, the Uncharted series is among the best of this generation and I highly recommend them, The Last Of Us looks like its going to be phenomenal too. Also, I really hope they just don't "pull another Jak game out their arse" because it would more than likely be something along the lines of that dreadful reboot, the crap still oozing off it and whatnot. If they do eventually get onto a Jak game I want them to take their time and not simply make it for the sake of begging fans, but have an idea which ison par if not better than the predecessors.JamesDNaux wrote:I've lost hope for Naughty Dog myself, people go on about how Uncharted is a great game, but I don't have the drive to play it. I'm pretty much done with ND unless they pull another Jak out of their arse. If Jak 4 ever comes out, I might give the Uncharted series a try as well, but untill then it's a no-go for me.

Reboots aren't always bad though. I found the Devil May Cry reboot to be pretty well done after all.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
I agree, I absolutely loved the Tomb Raider reboot however despite some aesthetic changes, at essence both Tomb Raider and DMC still attain the major aspects which define those series. In Tomb raider your still that realistic hot girl, exploring uncharted places, plundering tombs for treasures and kicking ass with a variety of weapons, this time with much needed updated mechanics and combat. The map was also quite open, with alot to explore like in the older games and it never felt like they amde it too linear. DMC retained its smart ass protagonist and its core gameplay, but alot of fans hated the game due to many aesthetic changes despite the gameplay being very similar. With Jak and Daxter according to the sources we have, they were going to turn the series from an open world platformer/shoot em up to a linear third person cover shooter like Uncharted. The cartoony, colourful world was going to be stripped away in place of a realistic one, atleast Tomb Raider and DMC kept there core gameplay and visual style to an extent. Daxter was going to be mute too and would be a simple rodent, now that would have pissed off 99% of the fanbase I can assure you.Rayfist wrote:Reboots aren't always bad though. Re: What games are you currently playing?
Indeed. I still have yet to play the Tomb Raider reboot, the one tiny problem I had with the DMC reboot is the main character not being as likable as the classic Dante, I won't complain too much about it since the gameplay it's self is INCREDIBLE. The new Dante though is certainly likable when you progress in the story and grows up and matures, but for the most part at the beginning of the game he's just a complete asshole. But again, that really DOESN'T matter to me, since the gameplay keeps it at best! And even the story is very phenomenal. Other then Dante I think all the characters are very unique.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Well back in the Ps1 days when she debuted in the mid 90s, the anatomy and form of the character Lara Croft showed that with the power of a 3D engine, game characters weren't restricted to looking overly cartoony due to tech restrictions, before that even characters that were meant to look realistic ended up look disproportional or cartoon like in an unintentional way. Lara was the character that felt real to many gamers and thus began the trend of more realistic looking protagonists, despite her big titties. I mean the original Tomb raiders were going for a realistic approach compared to what was mostly on the market back then and in todays age realism has escalated by quite a bit, so yeah the realism is still present, in Jaks case it would have went from light hearted with dark edges to full on realism and grittiness..
Also I wasnt saying linear third person shooters are a bad thing, I was simply stating thats what it would have been turned into basically an uncharted clone. That sort of agmeplay works great for the action, story and set pieces of uncharted but for what jak has offered us in the past no way.
What I like about the DMC and Tomb raider reboots know is the development of the characters and the clear progression of their personas you see change throughut the game compared to the original series, its cool.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Uncharted just isn't my kind of game, Jak and Ratchet are the closest things to shooters I play. That's not to say it's a bad series, I'm sure Naughty Dog made a masterpiece out of it, I just don't like the direction they're going. Seriously, we have enough zombie survival type games, the hell is with The Last of Us?
The industry is overflowing with shooters and the like, I wish 3D platformers would come back, like in the good ole' 90's. 2D platformers seem to be popular now, so maybe there is hope... The only games I'm even looking forward to right now are Rayman Legends and the next Smash and Zelda games.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I understand dude I do prefer platformers and would like to see more of them on the market like the good old days growing up. The Last of us looks great in my opinion mainly due to the focus on story and the relationship between Joel and Ellie and from the gameplay we have seen so far it looks to trump anything else in its genre, the sheer level of detail, immersion and realism in it looks outstanding. The enemies which are "clickers" seem to unique when compared to the usual zombie affair, but really im only into hyper realistic shooters if the the storyline and characters are interesting. Which is why i tend to avoid games like Call of duty, battlefield and Crysis. Platformers and RPGS will always be my favourite genres <3.
Edit: My most anticipated games of the year are Rayman Legends, GTA V, Pokemon X and The Last of Us!

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I was looking forward to GTAV, but then my PS3 kicked the bucket a second time. Unless by some miracle they port it to the Wii U, It'll be a while before I play it. If the map doesn't include all of San Andreas though, I probably won't get it anyway. Well, if it doesn't have flying car mode then they can really forget it, cheat codes damnit, those were the best part of San Andreas.
That Watch Dogs game looks pretty good too, but I'm not really keeping watch on it. I'm somewhat considering Pokemon X/Y since I have a 3DS with only three games... But I haven't picked up a Pokemon game for like, two gens. Catching them all is getting really fucking ridiculous, and I always wait for the third installment, but Black/White 2 fucked that one over completely. Seriously Game Freak, nice way to try and weasel every bit of money from fans.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
This. I'm very easily satisfied with a game and had no problem with picking up the next copy/paste New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii U, but first person shooters are just done for me. I'll look at Bioshock Infinite and be impressed, but then as soon as it cuts to the gameplay I just sigh. First person shooters are no longer innovative in any way and things like "Stunning detail" and "Amazing storyline" are cool, but also serve as a way to hide the fact that none of these mind blowing FPS games are nothing but repeats of each other... and yet everyone buys them at a constant rate. I don't get that. I'm currently playing Pokemon HeartGold. When I finish the game, I don't want to start another one right away because it would be the same thing again but a little different. Make a generic attractive guy, write a story about some corrupt organisation, and add a bunch of guns. Boom, the next Game of The Year Award is yours. I'm not saying all of these games are bad, but there is a lack of gameplay, what I remember was once the reason people played games. Then again, people seem to today buy consoles based upon the background colour of the options menu.JamesDNaux wrote:Uncharted just isn't my kind of game, Jak and Ratchet are the closest things to shooters I play. Re: What games are you currently playing?
Oh my, these words are beautiful. I mean, just imagine what Bioshock Infinite could have been if it didn't have that typical FPS gameplay. Just exploring the floating city without any uncalled bloodbaths, but still progressing the story. Actually, maybe even some platforming elements could have worked in a game like this. But no, instead of thinking about new possibilities, they just went with shooting, shooting and shooting.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
Well the bloodbaths were inevitable and part of the story since you were the false Shepard in a city full of corrupt, racist madmen out to get you, and all that emotional talk between you and Elizabeth about senseless killing and morals needed to happen for character progression! I think the whole concept of shooting and using vigours worked well to an extent, I found myself only using pretty much 2 vigours through most of the game (shock and the one which propelled enemies into the air) I wish they made it so you were somewhat forced to change vigours depending on the enemies and situations were in, i found all to be a bit repetitive at the end.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
I'm playing Ratchet and Clank 1 for PS2 for the first time, and so far I'm enjoying it! It has got definitely excellent graphics/animations for a PS2 game.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Yeah Ratchet and Clanks great, I recently just got 100% for the first time, gathering bolts for the gold weapons is tedious but I used a glitch to do so cos im lazy. The sequels are much better though, mainly because the addition of strafing and upgrading of weapons aswell as other things, but ill not get onto them too much till you start playing em! Basically if you like the first one you'll love the next 2!

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Nintendo is getting just as bad with Mario about this, I played the first New Super Mario Bros. That's it, it isn't even "new" anymore, seriously Nintendo, it's as repetitive as the FPS's. I contemplated the Wii U one, since I literally have just one game (Nintendo Land) for it, but it just isn't worth the money for me. Hell, they could mix it up a bit at least, let the flag poles be, they're classic and all, but they have plenty of other stage enders, exit stage right and hit the random block? The freaking goal from Super Mario World? Anything? Hell, I'd buy a New Super Mario World, I want that cape and shit.Keane wrote:This. FPS's stopped being innovative after GoldenEye 007. Ok, maybe they got a little more innovative after right analog sticks were added to the equation, but now it's just been: better graphics, a new gun or two, a few new maps, oh look Nazi's, hey, Nazi's again, um, Nazi zombies? Cool... Ok enough with Nazi zombies. Better graphics? Uhg fuck's sake guys, enough with the zombies and Nazi's; for the past decade, seriously, it needs to be given a rest. But the hordes of Mountain Dew fueled XBox junkies keep throwing their money for it, so it keeps getting made.I'll look at Bioshock Infinite and be impressed, but then as soon as it cuts to the gameplay I just sigh. Gameplay is still the reason I play games, not for "HURR GUYS, I GOT TEH ALL OF ACHEEVMENTSS FOR GEERS OF HAYLO COD 57 DELUUXE!1!" This is the reason I haven't played a game in days, I got Dark Moon, beat it, pretty close to 100% but I can't be arsed to get three stars on every level. I haven't even played the Scare Scraper yet since I have no friends to trod through it with. Brawl has been sitting in my Wii U but I have the same problem there, random online matches are only fun for so long, then everyone just starts mucking about taunting and shit. And don't get me started on 100%ing it, just fuck, it's insane to even try, and it bothers me like hell not having all of the music.I'm currently playing Pokemon HeartGold. When I finish the game, I don't want to start another one right away because it would be the same thing again but a little different. The first three games and the two in the Future series are really quite brilliant, Deadlocked is good for what it is as well. I'd get the HD collection if my PS3 wasn't fried. I'm nearly ready to fuck everything and just get a new PS3, waiting for the PS4 to come out, and not knowing if it's even backwards compatible in the first place, is really getting to me. Nintendo having jack shit to play on the Wii U is not helping.Haruka wrote:I'm playing Ratchet and Clank 1 for PS2 for the first time, and so far I'm enjoying it! Re: What games are you currently playing?
Rayfist also recommended me to give a try to Gladiator (Deadlocked's name in Europe), I'll think about that in future.
For now this trilogy might last in maximum until half July, depending if I progress quickly the three games or not.

So I just got this off ebay:
Can't wait for it to arrive, and I also own CTR, so this will be my second copy. I'm playing it right now and I have nearly 101% completed it

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Awesome! I only have got Crash Bandicoot 1 so far, and it wasn't quite cheap since it was the first edition released in Europe.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
Great collection of games, I see most of the NTSC art is pretty much the same as the PAL regions, besides Crash 3 really and the bottom of the CTR one. I still have my old copies and 2 versions of Crash 2 as its my favorite in the series
