Clearleaf Forest cleared. God this is boring... because I have already played through R3 twice before in the last week...
...but the whole point of RaySaves is that people will not have to suffer this boredom in the future.

Great!TFDs39 wrote:I have installed it.Now I will go and play(with cheats)
Once you know how to set up DOSBox, I'm sure repeating that process is not too hard. But when you don't know how to do that, it's hard. I tried it once and failed, then I got the GOG.com version that has DOSBox already set up and ready to play.emshomar wrote:Robotic Teensie wrote:Hmm, Rayman 1 can be really difficult to get working...![]()
ehem. no not realy. simple as hell!

GoG is not that advanced as I set up my Patch. Why you don't try it out? I'm sure you will not regret itRobotic Teensie wrote: Once you know how to set up DOSBox, I'm sure repeating that process is not too hard. But when you don't know how to do that, it's hard. I never understood why this happens. There's no valid reason for why Rayman would be able to revisit the Iron Mountains and have everything reset to its original state (all traps reactivated, all Pirates revived, all Menhirs dug up from under the ground and all wooden doors replaced and repatched with PirateCorp Safety Patches™), save for the encounter with Uglette. It makes not a whole lot of sense.Robotic Teensie wrote:However there are also levels here that have one-time areas (such as flying the pirate ship in the mines).

Hmm... I think the designers wanted to make the level revisits canon.Shrooblord wrote:I never understood why this happens. Hm, I didn't know that. Even more evidence they wanted the revisits to be as much canon as possible. It sounds fun - better than replaying the exact same level.Master4lyf1 wrote:In Revolution, this is kind-of addressed, though it still doesn't make complete sense, in some areas, more Pirates will appear than originally when returning, other areas may have zombified Pirates in the place of living Pirates when revisiting, however, the state of the level is reset.
I have not yet had the time to hack Rayman 1, but I sure intend to do that at some point in the future.TFDs39 wrote:Robotic Teensie,I have a question:
Did you ever tried to hack Rayman 1 with Cheat Engine?
Actually someone named "Jaxxckle" did and found amazing things like playing with Bad Rayman.
Check out his videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/Jaxxckle
Hmm, I'm not sure... well if DOSBox doesn't work I can still use your patchemshomar wrote:I think Cheat Engine will not work unless you run Rayman directly and not using DOSBox or like.

My patche workes with a modified DOSBox. If DOSBox doesn't work then mine too.Robotic Teensie wrote:Hmm, I'm not sure... well if DOSBox doesn't work I can still use your patchemshomar wrote:I think Cheat Engine will not work unless you run Rayman directly and not using DOSBox or like.

Doesn't matter, robo. I believe Jaxxckle used a PC-emulator like VirtualPC or VMWare with Windows 9X/ME installed. In the emulator he might have Cheat Engine installed and use it from there.Robotic Teensie wrote:Hmm, then it all depends on whether Cheat Engine can work with R1 in DOSBox or not. But I think it will work. Jaxxckle used Cheat Engine to hack R1 too. And Cheat Engine is a Windows program, so he must have used some emulator - R1 only works in DOS.
EDIT: Finished The Longest Shortcut.

Obviously, but it makes some revisits illogical nonetheless; how would Rayman go back to the undestroyed Prison Ship over and over again after fighting Razorbeard? Why would you want to make a game 'as logical as possible' instead of either completely logical or completely replayable (like R3 is)?(*)Robotic Teensie wrote:So now when Rayman revisits a level, that can be fit into the story without contradictions. In Rayman 3, revisiting a level is definitely not canon because everything is reset - like travelling back in time. They didn't want to do that in R2 - they wanted to keep it canon. So they stripped out any parts that contradicted with the story and put everything else - the parts that are unimportant to the story - back in.
That makes more sense, even gameplay-wise, because the level becomes (potentially) harder the next time around, making it more fun to revisit.Master4lyf1 wrote:In Revolution, this is kind-of addressed, though it still doesn't make complete sense, in some areas, more Pirates will appear than originally when returning, other areas may have zombified Pirates in the place of living Pirates when revisiting, however, the state of the level is reset.
