I still don't get why they removed twice the Globox Village, the gem of the Dreamcast version. It is sad to see these kind of good stuff getting lost in time, we can only hope for a full workable emulator.

You'd think that, wouldn't you, but then you'd be wrong.

haha, Rayman 2 is far more responsive and plays far smoother than most modern games. The polycount may be dated given its age, but the animations, gameplay, controls and even the music are all timeless, from what I can see.

I still think that R2 was a cutting-edge game from the new millenium era, doing a much better job than most of the 3D games in that time. The result was visible to everyone: critically acclaimed worldwide and still mentioned in the list of best games from all time.

Considering recent ports and the like haven't been flattering to the legacy of Rayman 2, what do you fellows think the perfect remake of Rayman 2 should be like?

If I could give hints of a perfect R2, for me it would be a mixture of DC/PS1/PS2 versions, fixing up glitches and improving the voice audio quality.

I've friggin' looked everywhere for rayman revolution and just can't find it, I will just have to settle for 3D.

Wut? Every game store selling PS2 games has it.

I agree. The fact that each version was different depending on the console was just ridiculous. The versions weren't even a *little* different - in some ways the PS version more closely resembled RR.

But then again, what a way to have the audience both honestly explore all the differences as well as spend more money!

My top 3 versions in order for favorite Rayman 2 versions are:
-DC
-PS2
-PC

I weren't too fond of the Razorbeard battle in the ps1 version, I liked the normal battle more for some reason.

Well if that's the case then the chances of you owning Rayman Revolution are 0. My gamestore is starting to rid the shelves of the ps2 and Gamecube titles sadly. This is why I go to my vintage game store near me.

Ah yes, we discussed this during Haruka's recent livestream.
Honestly, I prefer the PS1 final battle, the problem I have with the normal version is that it felt more like a finisher, The Grolgoth was practically clinging on for dear life, desperately trying to prevent you from exploiting its extreme vulnerability, given that it was marketed as an extremely powerful and ruthless machine, this was a little odd to me.

The ultimate version of Rayman 2: PS1, PS2, DC all combined both with the 2 different Razordbeard final boss battles. Lol, of course we've had quite enough ports of Rayman 2, still imagine that.

The ps1 version had some interresting feathures like the voice acting, Ninjaw or explaining why the second guardian is helping Rayman. Too bad, it fell unfinished.

Don't forget the awesome Rayman 2 2d prototype that you can unlock, probably my favorite feature of that version.

I agree with Master. Although I grew up with the PC version, since I tried out the PS1 battle, I prefer this last one. It does adds difficulty and time in defeating Razorbeard, and in the end the victory is more tastier. With the other versions, if you know the trick and/or the unlimited ammo easter egg, you beat him up in less than 2 minutes.

Yes, but remember that at this point, Razorbeard is desperate. Here is an enemy that he once thought just another prisoner, safely locked away within the confines of his prison cells. Suddenly he manages to escape - okay, not too big a deal, but a bit of a nuisance, surely - but he soon appears to become quite the bother: now this escapee is releasing more of his prisoners and he is - wait, what? - he is getting his grubby little hands on the four ... no! He is getting his filthy paws on the Four Masks of Polokus! Surely, his most loyal lackey will be able to destroy him. One cannot simply outrun a hoard of Warships and elite Ninja Pirates - right? Right? Uhhh... surely he can't get all the way through the Iron Mountains and free all the other prisone-- surely he can't make his way through the Prison Ship and - well, shit. Apparently he's right at the door. The only possible outcome: a face-to-face confrontation with this monstrosity that has single-handedly defeated three/four elemental guardians at least five times his size and twelvefold his power, destroyed scores of his soldiers, smashed about every cage and barrier he put in his way and has now clambered through the depths of his hostile Prison Ship to end up right there by him.
He's bound to be nervous. And then he finally manages to kill him at last, only to be surprised he's still alive. Will nothing stop him? This is his first time piloting the Grolgoth, but surely he can figure out how it works. It stomps, it shoots, it pulls - okay, sure, that works fine, but it's not quite getting to him. Maybe a little bit more power will do it -- and then he accidentally destroyes the floor beneath his feet. Nowhere left to go but between three pillars overhanging a precariously placed lake of lava, he is determined to destroy Rayman. But there's no foothold - this machine has no jet pack - the only thing keeping him alive is his arms and he needed those to shoot Rayman! WELL GODDAMN IT. At least he still has homing rockets...

The whole situation seems far more plausible to me - and it seems a whole lot more understandable. Of course, in the PS1 version, the Grolgoth does have jetpacks, so I guess that's where that part of the battle comes from...
Anyway - those were my thoughts.

Well, yeah, but then you could also argue that 'knowing the goldenfist cheat', every battle takes up less than 3 seconds. You can always cheat your way through a game if you like, but that doesn't make the game itself bad or less of quality - that's your own choosing, whether or not to actually cheat.
