The perfect example of a game packed full good quick-time events is Resident Evil 4. I can't think of a better example of a game that does this properly.

Here's an example of the wrong use of a quicktime event.

I was playing Metroid Other M... you know, it's not a bad game, the plot has some terrible flaws and Samus as an existencial lady sort of ruins the experience, but it plays well... ehem, whatever....

I was like.... fighting with a big amount of annoying fire enemies that I could only defeat with my ice beam.

Image

Ok, it was hard, but finally I'm done. Then I appear in this lava section

Image

My suit can't handle the heat, so I must run really fast because as time goes, I lose HP, and not only that, a bunch of almost invinsible lava weirdos throw fireballs at me... so I must run and avoid everything like a little whiny bitch. I'M ABOUT TO MAKE IT TO THE EXIT, BUT THEN...

PRESS A!!

HOLY SH...
Image

I pressed A... but it was too late... I died, so I had to go back and...

...son of a bitch.

See... that's why I dislike quicktime events, and I don't want them in Rayman Legends.

In fact, I don't really want Ubisoft to experiment that much with Murphy in the ports, it would risk a lot of gameplay mechanics, especially when there's no asymmetrical features involved. If they manage to come up with something clever, well.. bring it on, but I'm still unsure about the idea of bringing Murphy to other consoles.

But well, you know what they say... BETTER WITH KINECT!

Resident Evil 6 at least I thought had more of them, a little TOO much of them, but RE4 truly does it in a good way, so I agree.

The worst utilization of Quick time events for me is Uncharted: Golden Abyss... 2 boss fights based entirely around them...really?

Some interesting news about Rayman Legends' Challenge Mode:
Upcoming Free Rayman Legends Challenges App For Wii U Will Not Be Supported Forever

With the daily and weekly challenges in this download, how long will this level of content be supported?

Emile Morel: The Challenges App will be supported until the release of the full game. So players will have several months to enjoy this free application! The Rayman dev team will provide some exclusive tips and tricks for Wii U owners on Miiverse and on Facebook, these tips will help you improve your scores in the different challenges! We’ll also organize contests between our fans and the Rayman dev team.
So basically, the demo will stop working when the game is released.
Well, it seems fair. I've heard about people who want to have the free challenge mode forever and still boycott the game. This will cockblock these assholes.

This was already said in the interview. And yes, if people really want to play the game after the release, then buy it. It is what I'm going to do in September. :P

Today was an excellent day for 3ds owners! And... well, why not, kind of a decent day for Wii U owners.

I'm almost sure it is already day 25th April. I'll check out Nintendolife.com this Monday to see what's the preview of the contents that are going to be released in the next Thursday, and if RL appears, then it is official.

I like that they're stopping the demo upon release of the full game. Not only is it fair, it's business smart. The developers have worked so hard on this game; they deserve every penny they get. So, even though I don't have a Wii U yet, I will be sure to get one by the time the game is released to show that I support them and Nintendo.

What were you expecting? A lifetime free app? :P That's what the stubborn boycotters would love to happen.

Yerp. And what people seem to forget is that boycotts usually do more harm than good.

That's the problem with this people, and they actually know it. They don't want the company to make better decisions, they want to obliterate it because it made a bad decision. Why do we have to destroy when we are angry? oh the humanity. Remember when a lot of people tried to boycott Oreos because they support homosexuality? that's just plain stupid, Oreos are fucking delicious.

Oh well... at the end the delay was a good decision... after all, we got 30 additional levels!

Especially when you dive them in the milk!

I obviously want to support Rayman Legends and Ubisoft, even if the delay decision wasn't the most brilliant thing in the world, but it will be one of the very rare exceptions of buying at full price at day one, but that's because it is a game I really want to play right in the European release. I'm saving for it now.

Also, they confirmed that this will be the biggest Rayman game ever made, which is a lot to say.
I'm also REALLY interested on the villain... who will he/she be? how badass will he/she be? what's his/her plan? will he/she be as cool as previous villains? or just the Magician being an asshole again?

I fear it will be something silly again. I just pray to be a better ending or villain than in Rayman Origins. What a disappointment it was.

If they want this to be the biggest Rayman game ever, they definitely have to put an awesome villain. And a good storyline, because I want to know why Rayman is doing this all.

Actually, I once made my own vision of what the villain would look like if I was the designer. She's a female, has a small backstory and the one who did the mysterious paintings. Anyone wanna see?

I am interested, can you show us?

By the way, I wonder if they still kept the painting story or if it was scrapped and replaced by the new description in the official website.
