My apologies if a topic of this has already been made. I don't think I've seen one yet.
Cartoons are definitely my favourite thing ever. Even if they were appropriate for children, they can still have the charm in them. Especially the ones that have great writers and animators behind them. The goal of my lifetime is to work on TV animation studios and get my own successful cartoon series to the TV, but of course I'm not gonna rush with that one. Discuss your favourite current and old cartoons!
My favourite of the old ones is definitely Invader Zim. At first I judged it only because of the half-assed fandom, but then after looking at one episode, it was just the perfect thing to watch for me. It had the balls to put some pretty damn dark stuff in it, despite originally being targeted for 10-year olds, and that's what I like. There's lots of hilarious moments, which are usually pretty simple, but still so enjoyable. And most of all, the art style is unique and similar to mine to some degree. It would be awesome if this show came back, but I'm not batshit insane about making it happen, because I tell ya, many fans are.
From the current ones, I like Adventure Time the most. Some episodes may feel a little too oddball and trippy to some, but the later episodes are tamer, more mature and have some great depth, especially the backstory of the Ice King and Marceline (Not gonna put any spoilers here). Adventure Time has probably the best animation at this moment and also very good writing.
