Re: What games are you currently playing?
I actually loved Cave Story.
I will admit a lot of the indie market is shit, just look at the xbox live indie marketplace section, oh god... but there are still great indie games out there if you just look.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Yes, the indie market does have some cool games like Cave Story, Minecraft, or Don't Starve, but every kind of games has good ones. There's good party games, good shooters, good strategy games. I'm not sure why specifically indie games are being singled out as some sort of saviour of gaming.Rayfist wrote:I actually loved Cave Story.

In the game Proteus there is nothing to do but walk around a landscapes, which have little variation. It looks like you're exploring an unfinished game. Somehow, people act like this game is fantastic... because it's indie.

There are actually few good indie games still on steam greenlight I believe, such as Freedom Planet, and the AVGN videogame.

And Epic Battle Fantasy 4, if you like old school JRPG's , you'll like EBF4, you can play the full game on kongregate, but the creator said the steam version will have some extra stuff exclusive to it.Rayfist wrote:There are actually few good indie games still on steam greenlight I believe, such as Freedom Planet, and the AVGN videogame.
Anyway, enough advertising greenlight games, I've been playing a lot of quake today, mostly multi-player, or mods for quake 1. I gave Quakelive a try and I love it, though, I'm awful at it (it doesn't help that in fast paced multi-player shooters every frame counts, and most of the time I'm only getting 15fps on the lowest graphical settings, and it can't be my connection either, I have fairly low ping) but, I am enjoying it. I think I'll stick to co-operative Action RPG's for my multi-player games though.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Just to make clear, I beat Cave Story with the 3 different endings, and it was a great game! it's just nothing unseen at all. I also dislike the contrast between the cute character design and the overly dramatic story, but that's just me.
And well, if you put your faith fully on Indie games, I have bad news for you:

This makes me feel worried about Ouya and etceteras.

So I tried to go back to Crash Bash today, still dislike it. Ugh, I find this game to be so boring, I don't care about the fact it's a Mario Party ripoff, but I just find it so boring, I don't understand why in every world they sometimes re-hash a minigame that was already existant in the past and make it a tad bit different. Pretty sure in Mario Party all the minigames are different rather than the same thing, agh.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I finally got to try out Metroid Prime, and, I like it, a lot.
I've played both Zero Mission and Fusion to completion, got to Ridley in Super Metroid before rage-quitting temporarily, and I must say, the translation to 3D was well done, amazingly so, given what I've read up on Retro Studios and their situation at the time.
All the aspects of 2D Metroid are still there, you've got power-ups, old favourites like the Varia Suit, Morph Ball, Wave Beam, Ice Beam and Charge Beam to name a few, though I don't think the Speed Booster is available, but given the situation, it makes sense.
The exploration element is alive and well also, the map can take some getting used to, but when you have done so, it comes in real handy in orienting yourself, the game does drop hints, so you won't be lost asto what you should be doing, and there is backtracking, but the enemies do change when you revisit some areas to accommodate the upgrade you've attained.
While the game is certainly brilliant, it does have some flaws, platforming in a first person perspective can be a little tricky, and while it's no biggie, there have been quite a few times where I've messed up on jumps, which can be rather annoying if you're trying to ascend a vertical shaft.
I've also reached the famous Phazon Mines, and am currently stuck there, they weren't kidding when they said that it's a major difficulty spike and rather ruthless, given what you'll have to do to reach the next save room (I was so close once, then died during a lethal morph ball puzzle, forcing me to take a break, or lose it).

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Did you play it on the Wii or GameCube? The Wii version's controls are much, much better.
Also, I may be wrong, but I think I recall Echoes having speed boosts.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I heard that the Metroid Prime Trilogy for wii is ridiculously overpriced, wish I could get a copy.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
Been getting back to HeartGold again. Glad I took a break because with two regions the game is way too large to keep your interest the whole way. Although I had two replace some Pokemon against my will, I think my team is definitely the best I've ever had, having some of the most powerful moves... or maybe because I stopped sucking at Pokemon.
Gonna get started on Harry Potter And the Sorcerer's Stone tomorrow. Believe it or not, but despite being movie games the first three were actually really solid. A lot of time can be spend simply exploring Hogwarts, finding secret passages or a hidden basement. The dungeons are very Zelda inspired, but that's not a bad thing. The simplicity of going around a castle with some peaceful music playing is all that needed for these games to be great. I understand that this couldn't be every Potter game because they still wanted to follow the story, but they didn't do that all. Remember when Harry had to fight an army of skeletons? Remember how The Goblet of Fire was purely based around fighting? Or how about the incredible importance of making potions all day? Ack. The Order of the Phoenix looked like they were trying to recapture the original feel, but with repetitive mini games and Hermione yelling the same line every three seconds when you don't follow your objective, it ruins every chance it had. Alright, I'll stop ranting now.

I remember the pc version scaring the hell out of me, which version will you be playing?Keane wrote:Gonna get started on Harry Potter And the Sorcerer's Stone tomorrow.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
The PC version. I won't have access to GameCube games until two months or so due to my immigration, but I plan to play that once I can. Both games are similar in gameplay and everything, but the PC version has completely different dungeons and several parts of Hogwarts were completely changed. Console version is just a bit more complete.Rayfist wrote:I remember the pc version scaring the hell out of me, which version will you be playing?Keane wrote:Gonna get started on Harry Potter And the Sorcerer's Stone tomorrow.
Yeah, I can imagine it being a bit scary for young ages.

It was a limited edition, I guess that's why it is overpriced today.Rayfist wrote:I heard that the Metroid Prime Trilogy for wii is ridiculously overpriced, wish I could get a copy.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
Oh, I have the HP1 game for PC. It was actually a good game, which isn't a quite common destiny for games based in movies. I remember the last time I've played this, it was missing just one card, I wonder which one it is. Harry himself?

Harry Potter 2 Chamber of Secrets for pc I remember being better. But god damn, as a kid Peeves seriously scared the fuck out of me, I also remember the level in Harry Potter 1 for pc where you have to sneak around in the dark with a cloak and not get caught, oh man, scared the hell out of me XDDD
Re: What games are you currently playing?

Oh man, I'm hoping they will work in Windows 7, I believe I still have the first 3 Harry Potter games for pc, I remember them being freaking great, so hopefully I can get those running.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
Wasn't Azkaban already being bad? Or was that from Goblet of Fire on?
