Re: What games are you currently playing?
I think you may be thinking of Goblet of Fire, I disliked the movie and game for it. The game ditched the great atmospheres of the first 3 and just went for a kind of 'beat em up' concept leading to a boring finished product. The movie I disliked also.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
I also didn't like the movie itself of Goblet of Fire, neither the Order of Phoenix. Azkaban was the best from the 5 movies of HP I've seen so far.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
The Goblet of Fire is probably the worst of all the Harry Potter films. If you haven't seen the seventh movies yet though, do see them, they're fantastic.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
I kinda fell asleep while watching TGoF (Though I really enjoyed the book version). My favourite is The Prisoner of Azkaban.
Re: What games are you currently playing?
I do want to see the remaining three when I can, but I did get disappointed with the 4th and the 5th chapter of the saga. I hope the next ones are better.Adsolution wrote:The Goblet of Fire is probably the worst of all the Harry Potter films. Re: What games are you currently playing?
There's plenty of people out there looking to make games but failing at coming up with anything they like. There's always room for story improvers/writers/idea makers/lead designers. Just look around.JamesDNaux wrote:I have plenty of ideas for good classic platformer styled games, but I'm just an artist/idea guy.
And even realistic games need a ton of creativity to look good! Creativity doesn't just span the realm of 'what mystic character looks the most amazing' but also that of 'where does this potted plant look best'. Design requires a great deal of creativity; whether it comes to level, music or even AI design doesn't matter.Adsolution wrote:So many of these things still exist if you aren't satisfied with the general shift in trend toward more realistic settings. Why did this shift happen? Because technology allowed for it to be so; it's not like the world has suddenly become devoid of creativity, God damn.
I remember never getting past the final battle in Harry Potter 1... The game never wanted to install on post-Win95 machines, so I never got to redeem myself... that was depressing.
I agree with Ad - both of the Seventh movies (that sounds weird) are amazing. As far as I remember, I also enjoyed the sixth one.Haruka wrote:I do want to see the remaining three when I can, but I did get disappointed with the 4th and the 5th chapter of the saga. I hope the next ones are better.

I haven't a clue where I should even look, I've tried searching around places but I get the general impression that "Oh, you have ideas? Oh, you can't program? Good luck even trying to get into the industry." I'd really like to get with a small team that really wants to accomplish the same goal, then maybe someday we might get hired by the big guys to make games, I could be the next Miyamoto! Or not. Then there's always the possibility that they just run off with my ideas...Shrooblord wrote:There's plenty of people out there looking to make games but failing at coming up with anything they like. Ideas are a dime a dozen. You have great ones, I have great ones, everyone has great ones. They're not the issue.

Hey there. Maybe if you haven't already found a team by then, after Revenge of the Dark I can hear some of your ideas.JamesDNaux wrote:I haven't a clue where I should even look, I've tried searching around places but I get the general impression that "Oh, you have ideas? Re: What games are you currently playing?
I like the Lord of the Rings film trilogy a lot more than the Harry Potter film series, but as long as we are talking about Harry Potter, I won't try and change the topic. Strangely, it seems, Goblet of Fire was my favorite film of the series (or tying with Prisoner of Azkaban), due to the somewhat darker atmosphere compared to the earlier films.Adsolution wrote:The Goblet of Fire is probably the worst of all the Harry Potter films. I was also not a big a fan of movies 6-8 as many were. I guess it was mainly because of what was lost/changed from the book, but I felt that it lacked emotion or something that was present in the earlier films.
I'm not trolling. This is my actual opinion.
I feel kind of the same way. I have some ideas for some survival horror-type games, but I don't know how to program or animate, so I'm kind of stuck.JamesDNaux wrote:I haven't a clue where I should even look, I've tried searching around places but I get the general impression that "Oh, you have ideas? Like I said; there's plenty of people out there stuck with the same dilemma, but working in a different field. Try to find some animators' and programmers' forums. You'll be sure to find someone at some point.
The main issue is that programmers at least try their hand at graphics, just so they can make them dance around with their language skills - but they need 'convincing' by animators that they need better art, sometimes. Same goes for the storyline.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Yes! One more piece for the collection, I missed out on an awesome N64 bundle with the two games I wanted, but I managed to find another N64 by itself and the two games separately! Bit more pricey, but I'm just glad to have them on the way! Can't wait to play through Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie again!
The final Nintendo console I need is the Gamecube, and I just have to get Luigi's Mansion to go with it. Still need to get the three classic Zelda titles, a combo of 1 and 2 slipped through my fingers already, and the rest are just so damned expensive. I'm probably going for Mario 1-3, since I have World already.

Ah, thank you for the offer! How far along are you with it? I've seen bits and pieces of it, and it looks really great.Adsolution wrote:Hey there. Maybe if you haven't already found a team by then, after Revenge of the Dark I can hear some of your ideas.

Re: What games are you currently playing?
Well, we're making progress. That's all I can say.
I've been playing through Tales of Symphonia again (I last played it when it first came out, beating it with my brother), and wow, this game has an absolutely breathtaking story now that I look back on it. It's so wonderfully done, you just can't stop playing, you always want to know what happens next.

I've been playing the Rayman Legends Challenges App and Ratchet & Clank 1 for PS2. Loving both so far!

Re: What games are you currently playing?
I've been trying out Game Dev Tycoon (Demo version). I was really enjoying creating games following the industry as it evolved past the 80s and onwards. Apparently all my Last Imagination series (Fantasy RPGs) did really well - what a surprise! - my last installment gave me 2.1 million in sales!
Haha this game is brill... when I get it, my first Gameboy game will be Pokémaans.
Hm. Maybe I'll try my hand at a Let's Play of it. Could be humorous.

I recently bought Don't Starve. Wow, hand-drawn survival how fun. Still I just bought, so I can give a fully opinion, but what I played so far, It's pretty neat.
EDIT:

Re: What games are you currently playing?
My N64 came in! They all line up very nicely, there's just enough space for the Gamecube to go between the 64 and the Wii, just seeing them all lined up brightens my mood.

Collecting the games is the hard part- have fun with that.
Zelda Ocarina of Time is undoubtedly one of the best n64 games.

Majora's Mask is much better in my opinion. I already bought Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, so I'm set for now, gonna play those when they come in.
