Can you not purchase it online?
If you are capable of doing so, get the GoG version, it doesn't have the issues that the disc based versions are renowned for.

My parents won't purchase it online, unless they trust the site.

GOG is worldwide known for its updated versions of numerous old games, such as all the Rayman games from the canon serie which aren't compatible with W7 32 and 64 bit and W8 (Rayman Origins is so they don't see an interest in selling it of course...).

It is also known for the release of digital versions of recent games. I was going to buy The Witcher 2 on it one day but I didn't because of exams I didn't want to fail.

Personnally I own R1 R2 and R3 digital versions from GOG and they work perfectly (except for some issues in R1 like songs which are missing. But emshomar made a patch for this. There is a topic about it in this forum...). They are totally safe too as the site is.

In terms of quality, it can be easily compared to Steam for digital versions of games, but GOG is mainly focusing on updated versions of old PC games.

Have fun : R1 R2 and R3 cost only 5 USD each on GOG if I remember well.

If I were to buy it, could I play it right after download, or do I need to downloads more plugins?

You can play right after. Just Buy, Download, Install and Play! A monkey can do it, that easy!

The only hard is getting my parents to buy it.
I need to be convincing, I will probally fail at that.

I read those last few posts like a conversation between two cavemen debating something and even degrading monkeys.

I believe Haruka has uploaded videos of her playing the demo in its entirety.
