Adsolution wrote:Aah, this topic. Let's see…

For internal memory I have:

- 320 GB
- 640 GB
- 640 GB
- 120 GB (SSD)
- 2 TB

For external (that I always have plugged into my computer), I have:

- 320 GB
- 1 TB
- 2 TB

So that would equal out to about:

7.04 TB!
jonas333 wrote:I really don't understand why people have like 2TB. I have 500GB, and I have 3D animation and editing programs, and alot of other crap on my Pc but I still have 105GB left! :)
And if you actually used those 3D animation programmes to their full potential, you would find that rendering an entirely uncompressed, 30 FPS AVI at 1440p, takes up roughly 600 GB per-minute.

I've all-together used up about 4-5 TB of space so far. Albeit while about 1 TB of space is taken up by renderings and such and about another 1 TB is dedicated to downloads, I also have five operating systems installed (98, XP, Vista, Se7en and 8). My Steam folder is about 300 GB, taken up largely by custom mods and addons for Garry's Mod, and my tens of CryEngine projects (perhaps between 15 and 30) take up about 500-600 GB. Then there's audio software and projects; That stuff takes up around 1 TB of space on my drives. The rest is mostly software.
My animations are 720P, 30FPS Quicktime movie. They're mostly very short and I always have the settings pretty low, I don't use Global Illumination and Ambient Occlusion becouse my computer will crash halfway rendering. :/ I'm thinking about getting a laptop soon.

HOLY Shit 7 Terrabytes?! That's quite a lot!

My 100 GB PC Storage often seems to be quite few when it comes to walkthrough recording and editing, and sure it would be better to have an at least 250GB Hard Drive ( as Windows already takes about 20GB ( including 10 gigs which i can't even see where it is ) but i can - hardly - live without it.

Yeah, because, you know, the go-to solution for solving performance issues of that caliber is getting a laptop. :P

Your computer must be twelve or something.

Not to pry, or anything, but what exactly does your build contain, Ad?

Keep in mind, I am quite poor, but I also have a source of income. You know, that thing people don't have when they're complaining about a lack of money. My main parts are:

- (2x) nVidia GTX 580
- Intel Core i7-3770K Ivybridge @ 4.5 Ghz
- 16 GB DDR3 RAM

Were there any other parts you were wanting to know, or is your soul now at rest?

If you think THAT is a lot, check out what one guy runs in his HOME: http://www.overclock.net/t/1282253/my-u ... t_17711288 :hinhinhin:

I'm jealous. lol

But I have 4TB worth of storage space out of a RAIDed array of 8TB worth of drives in my office computer, plus a 250GB SSD. Plus 16GB RAM.

Then my laptop has a 240GB mSATA SSD, a 64GB mSATA SSD, and a 750GB HDD. So just over 1TB total in it, technically speaking... Plus 32GB RAM.

Then my home desktop, runs off a 256GB SSD, need to buy a couple harddrives for it still, but I do have 32GB RAM in it too.

It's fun creating virtual RAM Disk drives. :bad:

32GB RAM? Holy sh*t! I have 2Gigs of RAM and my editing software lets me use only 1GB RAM to edit, it's slow as fuck and pisses me off! :(

Strangely, my tower has 12 GB of RAM, while my 11" laptop has 16. In what world does your laptop ever end up with more RAM than your tower?

Personally, I have no use for 32, or more than 12 for that matter (though I wouldn't go less than 12). At least, not until I install Hackintosh, whence I'll probably upgrade to 32.

For a while my laptop had more RAM than my desktop tower, but either one is very capable machines.

I know if you work with a lot of large artwork in general, especially large images, a lot of RAM can help since it really does use up memory.

I have 20GB 1600MHz Corsair Vengeance (2x8GB + 1x4GB) installed on my 15" Laptop. I need to upgrade my OS out of Windows 7 Home Premium since home premium has a limit of 16GB RAM >_>

That limitation really bites. Honestly I think they put it in place on purpose so you have to buy at least the professional version of windows. :|

My laptop has a mere 3 GB of RAM, and it can be excessively slow.

I'm starting to think that they put it in place on purpose so you have to pirate at least the professional version of Windows.

ehh, and now, prepare for the lowest maximum hard drive storage space for a PC mentioned on this thread so far:

32.5 GB

as for RAM and processor speed: 0.99 GB of RAM and 2.53 GHz
I know, my PC is the absolute cutting edge of technology*, I could easily run commander Keen at 10 fps on this thing.

*obvious sarcasm is obvious, and if you thought I was being serious, you should probably see someone about your common sense.

1.5TB build in my laptop and another 1.5TB extern on USB3.0 Port. 20GB 1600MHz Corsair Vengeance RAM and Intel Core i7-3840QM @2,80GHz boosts up to 3,80GHz with 8MB L3 Cache. GTX 660M 2GB GDDR5 Optimus

And guess what? It's a 15" Laptop :hinhin:

Yeah I'm getting lag on some of the newer games as well, like Black Mesa it has a problem processing some of the areas, may need to get more ram, or maybe my motherboard is the problem, dunno.
