Are you ashamed by admitting you like Rayman?
Just like the topic asks, are you? Do people around you know that you like? Did they take it badly?
Re: Are you ashamed by admitting you like Rayman?
Surprisingly, no. Even my "hardcore" gamer friend likes Rayman Origins thanks to me. I recommended it to him last year, and he actually liked it, though he had minor complaints about it. Now we're both kinda looking forward to Legends.

It's hard for me to make conversations with people in general, but to those who I know or refer to video games at some point, I do mention Rayman, and I don't feel shame in saying so.

Re: Are you ashamed by admitting you like Rayman?
Not at all. Most of the people I know like games (many more so than me – I'm more interested in films and television at this point in my life). I'd be hard pressed to find someone in my social circle who hasn't played at least one colourful platformer at some point. I have absolutely no problem acknowledging that I like Rayman. (As for having around thirteen thousand posts on Rayman sites, moderating a Rayman forum for two years, and researching and writing the bulk of a comprehensive Rayman encyclopedia... I tend to gloss over these things.)

My friends at uni are fans of Rayman, although they only seem to have played the very first one. I mind one time we had to demonstrate a game so I used my laptop for it which had my Rayman cursor on it, and everyone thought Rayman was part of my game.

Yes I feel ashamed because all other students are playing shooter games and something like Rayman are for little kiddies. I would just don't fit with them if they knew I am a fan of Rayman.

It sounds like your friends are still feeling the rebellious teenage compulsion to distance themselves from childish stuff. Just wait a couple of years.emshomar wrote:Yes I feel ashamed because all other students are playing shooter games and something like Rayman are for little kiddies. My friends don't like platformer games that much, but they still appreciate Rayman, and does not hate it. And I am not afraid to tell that I'm a Rayman fan.

Re: Are you ashamed by admitting you like Rayman?
It used to be one of my greatest downfalls in elementary school, and my like for the series was just another reason for encouraging negative attitude directed against me. Nowadays though I couldn't care less, and many of my friends have become thoroughly interested in and now like Rayman due to my influence. Amusingly, at the end of grade eleven - I'm not really sure how - word got out in school that I was making my own Rayman game, and suddenly everyone was asking me questions about it, even people whom I hadn't formerly been acquainted with. I couldn't tell if people were genuinely interested or if they were looking for something to mock - or both - but it was at that point that I'd solidified my mindset on not giving an epsilon of a shit.
Re: Are you ashamed by admitting you like Rayman?
I am not.I recommended it to my friends. Some of them like it
.But most of them don't give a fuck about it.They are acting like Minecraft is the only game in world
Re: Are you ashamed by admitting you like Rayman?
I have been mocked about that I'm making Rayman fan games, but they are not my friends who did so. But words won't hurt me, I'm too positive for that.Adsolution wrote:It used to be one of my greatest downfalls in elementary school, and my like for the series was just another reason for encouraging negative attitude directed against me. Why not wait and see what others have to say?
Re: Are you ashamed by admitting you like Rayman?
I remember in like year 4 or 5 some cuntbag chav called me gay for liking rayman, which is actually ironic since he liked this horrific genre of music known as "rave". He used to brag about this rave club in town called the "powerhouse", which he said he had been to on several occasions, taking drugs,d ancing and whatnot (yes this was a 10 year old) Everyone was stupid and naive so they believed him until like a year or so later we were on the bus for a school trip, we drove past the "powerhouse" and it had a cartoon topless man spray painted on the side of it which we all caught a glimpse of. We were informed that it was indeed a gay bar. Nothing against gay people it was just fucking hilarious. I had numerous friends who liked it around that time too, it seemed to be just these chav rag ends who woudl give you crap about it.
Through secondary school, I still played the classics, but this was the time of the rabbids, and aside from the first game I just wasn't interested as much so never really brought it up. I do remember in year 9 when I was over this girls house and I mentioned the first rayman for some reason, she was like "oooo i remember that on ps1..wait you don't still play that you sad boy" which made me sad
Now my best friend that I met at college is a big rayman fan and we always talk about it and play it on our vitas and stuff. Hes really excited for Legends too. Also the majority of people in my college class remember rayman from eyars ago, or still play his games and ive had many discussions with them about it!:D

Re: Are you ashamed by admitting you like Rayman?
It never really dawned on me in my childhood that liking Rayman would be an issue, and it still hasn't today. Maybe I'm stupidly naive, but liking Rayman has never made me feel ashamed and I don't see why it should. It's a very good series of games and all of them share a good level of challenge for both kids and adults.
I've mentioned my liking to several people and I usually get neutral feedback. Either they don't care or think it's just "alright".

It's always like this, usually with every "childish" game:Bzzit wrote:I remember in like year 4 or 5 some cuntbag chav called me gay for liking rayman, which is actually ironic since he liked this horrific genre of music known as "rave". Ahah, that. I love Katie. But still, you should use imgur, or in this case link to the actual comic's link.Raymanni wrote: http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f278/ ... mic146.png
Re: Are you ashamed by admitting you like Rayman?
LOL, why would I be ashamed liking something that is pure epic? If someone does not like it, it's their problem not mine. Ever since I was a little kid, I always loved to be different then others in school - listen different music, play different games, being more serious.
