He is French, so it could work I... guess? I'd like to hear a Frenchy Rayman speaking English.

That would actually be cool. Not if it's too heavy though, just some small French twists in his speaking would work.

I've also thought of Mr. Dark having an over-the-top British accent for some weird reason.

Mr Dark can only work in the series's current form if he serves as an absolute and uncompromised contrast to the ridiculousness of everything around him. There's no other way to make a Mr Dark encounter compelling and exciting in the context of an Origins-style game. Play it completely straight. Maybe even hire an actually-good voice actor. If you're going to make him cartoonish and give him a silly accent you might as well not include him at all.

This wouldn't be Mr. Dark for me. He's a cold and mysterious figure in the Valley and he'll always be.

He's essentially the straight man in the Glade, a good role too, actually, there's still humour to be had from such an idea while still keeping him true to what he should be.
I do miss him sometimes, I do hope the real deal does come back proper one day.

Eh. I think Mr Dark was the only bad guy who was like that. Even Razorbeard had some slapstick moments.

Razorbeard was a little less sinister than Mr. Dark, but the truth is that everybody should take the hat off to him for being the only villain that managed a big achievement like destroying the Heart of the World, enslaving a good portion of the world, overpopulating the world with robots and filling landscapes with forts and making Rayman's life more difficult in a way that Rayman had to ask help to a divine identity to save the planet. The Glade would be totally lost if it wasn't Polokus' help.

Razorbeard is my favourite of the villains. Dark, despite being the exact description of your every day villain, was not like Razorbeard, who is full of pure evil and doesn't care at all for the Glade. With topics like enslavement and actually having the desire of wanting Rayman dead, R2 was the first game ever to make me feel like a whole big place full of people depended on my actions, and that the enemy is willing to put up a big fight.

I think it would have been a better idea for Origins to have had a completely different villain. Making the Magician return with a completely different personality and design from the original game really didn't make sense. It kinda feels like a different character that they just decided would be the Magician, and thus they put his hat on the Teensie. I do believe Dark may be making an appearance in Legends for frankly it would seem a bit odd to include all the references to him in Origins and then not have the actual character appear, especially since RO probably introduced a good share of people who have never or didn't play the original game until after they beat Origins. Sadly, how Spiral described him is exactly as I imagine he'd be like. I could even imagine a joke going with it that's about him seeming very intimidating in the shadows and then turning out to be some a usual Teensie. *Shudder*

As much as we want to use Origins to fill in some of the blanks of Rayman's world, I consider it to be separate from the trilogy. Redesigns and different personalities should be enough to inform one that the new Rayman has very little to do with the old Rayman, and I don't expect Legends to have what Origins didn't.

Each to their own, I didn't mind the betrayal factor much.
One thing I've really wanted to see since Rayman 2 is the Glade of Dreams during an invasion, I recall the manual of Rayman 2 speaking of the battle that got Rayman captured in the first place, and it seems at that point, that it was a decisive battle during an ongoing war, I'd like to see such a scenario where there is a dark force that is attacking, but hasn't actually succeeded yet.

Yeah, the Pirates, despite seeming to capture thousands in very short amounts of time, never seem to be together as an army. Razorbeard is beyond outraged by the progress Rayman makes, yet the most he'll send out is one ship to shoot a couple of bombs. Pirates themselves are almost always alone or in pairs.

I could envision that battle scene in 2D Animation, while being loyal to the graphical style of R2.

Hmm, I'd love to see that scene as well, now that I think about it, it could transition well into the intro of Rayman 2 as well.
Of course, I'd love also to see a game which actually has the inhabitants of the Glade actually fight back, instead of being stuck in cages.

Inhabitants of Glade fighting back is something I would love to see. It would remind me of Prinny can I really be a hero game when all prinnies want to overthrow their lord in one scene

YOu guys must have heard of Rayman Gold right? I've never played the game, all I can really remember was when I was about 5 my grandfather and myself tried to install the game on a computer, though it never worked, so sad. Apparently it comes with the original Rayman 1 AND this special Rayman designer game, as in you can create your own levels, and they also had pre-sets too.

I think it's the only Rayman game where they actually had different colored tings :!:

Although I think Rayman Forever was the newer updated version...

The ultimate pack of the Rayman 1 era is Rayman Collector, released in France. It included R1, Rayman Designer, Rayman 60 Levels, Rayman By His Fans, 3 mini-games and the Making-Of Rayman 2 videos.

I have all of those, but from two seperate discs. I liked seeing the Making of R2 videos - it was interesting to see some level design in progress (it's in the background so you'll have to look hard to find it).
