Plus, I think I'm the only Nintendo fanboy who actually appreciates the delay and the other consoles port of RL. Mainly because of having a bigger audience, having more content and having everything ripped from the game files.
Then you are not a Nintendo fanboy but a fan, which is actually better. Many people consider word fanboy an insult.

I think I should stop denying it :P
I will tell the truth, I want it. I was thinking these days a lot about it and I decided that after buying Oddworld games on Steam alongside with new remake, I will start saving YouTube money for Wii U. Since I have hacked Wii, maybe I should just get European Wii U and not use it for hacking. After all, then I can use internet, Miiverse and Nintendo Network. Anyone wants to leave some thoughts about my idea? Should I go with Japanese or European? Hack it and not use online or not hack it and use online?

Oh yeah, the player's inability to repeat certain experiences is one of the worst things about the first two games. Rayman 3 greatly improved this by streamlining the campaign, removing Rayman's literal backtracking in favour of allowing the player to revisit an earlier point in Rayman's adventure. This spares us the nonsense of boss-free, story-free versions of levels we had to endure in the previous games.
It is something that makes me relatively sad with the first two games: after beating the games at 100%, you cannot replay bosses (with exception of Razorbeard in Rayman 2). If you want to play against the bosses again, you need to start the games over (Now imagine me, that some of my favourite bosses are Mr Skops and Foutch). It isn't like I hate to restart the first two games but sometimes I would just feel like to replay a battle... At least in Rayman 3 and Origins you can replay boss battles.

When a game like this is maxed out, it loses its appeal. None of that stuff matters unless the underlying mechanisms and atmosphere of the game are so interesting that you keep playing it and thinking about it even when you've strictly done everything that's there for you to do.
Just because a game has specific goals doesn't mean that such world can't be immersive and unique. Super Mario Galaxy 2 has multiple collectables, but even when i beat the game, I wanted to play it again because it was a gorgeous world... or galaxy.

Replay value is important to make a game last longer, since nowadays there's no motivation from nowadays' gamers to keep playing the same game again and again.

A game must come to an end at some point. Even games like Animal Crossing do: You finish when you feel satisfied with what you did. Why must they end? because we have to move on and buy more games. That's how the industry works. Developers want to give us enough content to play the same game again and again, but also being aware that there are more games to produce for us. And yet here we are, still buying Rayman Legends because Rayman's universe is so magical and unique we want to have a new adventure. Not just stick to Rayman 1 and find the Electoons again and again (which, sadly for you, still count as part of the system of replay value).

I'm not sure whether I like the Rayman 1/2 method or 3's better. In the first two games, it made the boss fights feel very special; after beating the game, walking around in previous levels without bosses felt like your were peacefully moving through a rescued world. Not that that isn't the case with Rayman 3, but the levels are long enough for each to feel like its own little solo adventure.
spiraldoor wrote:I've never really given that much thought. Everything in Rayman 2 resets when you die, and Rayman's deaths are incorporated into the story through the Green Lums. Revisiting levels seems like an extension of this: some stuff gets reset, some doesn't.
Around a year ago is when I noticed how strange it was that, even after you beat Razorbeard himself and the game saves, the minions are still there, patrolling and such, whereas the bosses and large level events become nonexistent. It doesn't make any sense when it comes to continuity, but it's obviously one of those things we weren't meant to think about.

The hunt for Electoon cages was cool because it served as a framework for the player to explore strange passageways and discover hidden areas. That was the joy of it. I'd have done it anyway.

Quite a lot of steps in this case – we've been trying to figure out how Rayman would helicopter with an afro since 2005.

Only in theory, because we never saw Rayman using the helicopter in the E3 trailers of the canceled Rayman 4.

i hated the delay at first, but now i feel like it wouldn't be that great a game if the delay hadn't happened!

I think they could get a lot of mileage out of DLC. I'd like to see more worlds like Fiesta de los Muertos, cartoony versions of real world locations and mythology. Maybe a feudal Japan world, an ancient Egypt world, and maybe they could finish that Dracula world. I would really like that.

But even Micheal Ancel stated the two franchises are separated for good.
