Wait, isn't Jano only the guardian of the Cave of Bad Dreams? And aren't Hell and the Land of the Livid Dead two completely different places in the Rayman "canon" (as if there's much of that lately) that have nothing to do with the Cave of Bad Dreams?

AGH!!! Why did I have to miss so much!? Okay...

Opening Cutscene - Beautiful! I didn't expect that we'd get something so elegant and cinematic!

Soundtrack Samples - I love how much more orchestrated it is, while still sounding true to it's setting.

Shit I'm still don't know which platform to get it on. But I'm leaning towards the Xbax 360 version for now.

As far as I know, the Cave of Bad Dreams is just other dimension, not really a place that physically exists.

And aren't we confusing for the god that is "two-faced"?

I know "Jano" sounds like Janus, and I supposed his "two-faced" nature works as a pun, but these are really superficial connections. His role as an impartial guardian of the underworld who watches over the spirits trapped there makes the Hades/Pluto parallel much stronger.

I don't know if the Land of the Livid Dead is supposed to be the same thing as the Cave of Bad Dreams. Hell, I don't even know if the Land of the Livid Dead is supposed to be the same thing as the Land of the Livid Dead. Jano's domain and the final level of Origins definitely occupy the same cosmological role, at least on a subtextual level. Considering that this world is made of dreams, a case could be made that subtext should be taken quite literally.

Concerning the Land of the Livid Dead, there's something that Globox says in R3 that suddenly got more logical after the release of Origins (I'm going to say this by memory, I might be saying this wrong): "Ah, the Land of the Livid Dead at last! In any case it is nice and calm here. And here I was expecting to find dead old ghouls. Oh, silly Globox!"

Coincidence because of the literal meaning of the name of the land itself, or did Origins grab this dialogue to give a better sense?

They definitely didn't intend that when they made Rayman 3. It's just a joke about how incongruous that level's name is. Retroactively you could say that Globox thought they were going to the other Land of the Livid Dead.

That's why I believe it can be a coincidence, but at the same time it is hard to think it is both different places, especially knowing that the Land of the Livid Dead of R3 is on the surface while on Origins is in the underground.

I originally pre-ordered for the PS3 because I wanted that Assassin's Creed outfit for Rayman, but I was always going to play it ultimately on the Wii U. Now I'm going to switch my pre-order over so I can save a few bucks. Day one, if I can help it. By then, the family and I will all be moved into our new apartment.
