Re: Rayman Legends
Haven't 100%'d it yet, not sure about there being two endings but you do get a character apparently.OldClassicGamer wrote:Did you beat it 100%?
Does game have two endings like Rayman Origins?
Is there any special prize?
Re: Rayman Legends
Ok. I just finished 20 000 Lums Under the Sea. Time to make a break from playing and later I will try to complete Olympus Maximus

Re: Rayman Legends
HM, INTERESTING.
UK Charts confirm that Rayman Legends sold better on the Wii U version:

It's selling better than Madden, Call of Duty and Fifa, so that's a thing.

Re: Rayman Legends
It made the No.6 spot so that's pretty good. Glad to see the Wii U version to be the best selling one.
Re: Rayman Legends
OK guys, I've finished Rayman Legends, with all the 700 Teensies. (it only misses to unlock two skins but these require me to get lots of Lums from the challenges, creatures and maybe replaying levels)
It was a fantastic experience, by far more pleasant than back in 2011 with Rayman Origins. Legends is improved in everything, since the graphics until longevity.
The graphics of this game are gorgeous. and the backgrounds feel much more Raymanish than in Origins. The best examples are the backgrounds of the Fiesta de los Muertos and 20000 Lums Under the Sea. Everything is painted in detail, and the characters have plenty of animations, everything plays 60FPS with no lag.
The music is also a lot more improved, the same thing applies to the sound effects. The music features more "serious" Rayman atmosphere, less wacky (Some of my favourite musics are in 20000 Lums Under the Sea and Olympus Maximus). The chosen songs for the music levels are excellent and their levels are really programmed in detail (it gives the real feeling that you are playing the music itself!).
The gameplay itself is just like Rayman Origins except it is better and more expanded. Ubisoft did explore new ways to play the levels, and there are a good portion of those that can really surprise you in its originality and functionality (Fiesta de los Muertos is probably the best example).
There are levels that you are really dependent of Murfy to pass, but if you are not playing in the Wii U, you need to multitask between him and your playable character to pass the levels (depending of your skill level, it can either be more helpful or not, at least there was only one level I struggled with this multitasking). Ubisoft programed an AI, that works 95% of the time since only in very rare situations Murfy was not replying to my command or going exactly where I wanted, but that can be easily fixed by approaching your character to the target you want. Fortunately, there are specific situations there's a Murfy handicap (like in Toad Story, Murfy is automatically slapping the monster's eye to blow up air constantly).
The game itself is harder than Rayman Origins, having levels that did give me quite trouble [ There are two Invaded paintings of Dark Rayman (by the way, it is a cool reference to Rayman 1 since it behaves exactly like in the original game) and two 8-bit music levels that were a true headache ]. It isn't only the levels though, you have 600 Lums to collect in most of levels and some of them are easier while others are much tougher. Then it adds the Teensies. There were a minor number that I got distracted enough to miss them, since they don't always shout for help. The Kings and Queens are obviously the most well hidden ones.
The controls aren't different from the Rayman Origins, except of course for the Murfy fact. In the Wii U you use the gamepad screen and the stylus, but in all the other platforms you only need to control his actions and the rotation of giant platforms.
In terms of longevity, it is without doubt the biggest Rayman game ever made. With still two last skins to unlock (only possible by keeping playing the game a lot, especially the challenges and checking the creatures daily), I took approximately 20 hours to finish the game. The huge number of levels and the daily/weekly challenges add a lot of replay value along with Kung Foot if you have a friend with you to play.
There are all the Rayman Origins characters/skins to play plus new ones of RL, leaving lots of options of choice (something that I think RO lacked).
The lucky tickets are an interesting concept, it is what makes you able to unlock many content: creatures (these give you Lums everyday), Teensies, Lums and Back to Origins levels.
The Back to Origins levels are exactly like the RO ones, except they are adapted to the gameplay mechanics of Rayman Legends and are easier to play, but I think they got more enjoyable. My complaint is that you might feel this experience repetitive since it is a recycling/derivation of the previous game.
The challenges are like the Wii U ones, but they have some minor changes that help you know the scores of your friends and the required number to beat to get a specific cup.
The biggest weakness of this game is the lack of a detailed story. The heroes slept for a century and nightmares scattered in the Glade, multiplying Ales Mansay into five Dark Teensies. The heroes are awakened by Murfy and they need to restore peace. And that's it.
And the Livid Dead Party, sadly is not a world with LOTLD themed-levels, just a rock-n-roll version of the Chasing a Dream, and all the music levels in 8-bit version, that are much tougher to beat. I also got disappointed that you really don't save the princesses at all, you simply need to pass levels that are based in the challenges levels.
Despite of this, it was a very enjoyable game and worth the wait. I give 4.5 stars out of 5. It is also officially my game of the middle, being superior to Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc (I think this game is only better in the story but otherwise...) and Rayman Origins.

I'm REALLY glad to read that! Rayman Legends seems to be the true nostalgia breaker
Hope you get the Wii U version too, though. As I said before, the thing is selling better on that system, and it would be nice if you reviewed that version.
Re: Rayman Legends
It isn't superior to R2 and R1 still, but it is my third favourite now out of the five.
I did my review based in the PC version by the way, but I is appliable to all the remaining ones except Wii U (that would only differ in the Murfy thing and the fact the AI is only applied to other in-game character).
My Wii U copy got shipped from Amazon.co.uk today, I might get it next week.

And except PSVita. I guess i'll review that version.Haruka wrote: I did my review based in the PC version by the way, but I is appliable to all the remaining ones except Wii U
Re: Rayman Legends
PSVita will have exclusive levels, right? I would like to know about them later.
Re: Rayman Legends
Yeah that's one of the reasons why i buy the PSVita version, another one is that it has the original Murfy gameplay ( like on Wii U ) and another one is that it is portable.Haruka wrote:PSVita will have exclusive levels, right? I would like to know about them later.
Re: Rayman Legends
Looking forward for your opinion then.

Can someone confirm that this has been scrapped? By the way, waiting for the soundtrack update to RayTunes
EDIT: Is there any information about the exclusive levels?

Me too.Haruka wrote:PSVita will have exclusive levels, right? I would like to know about them later.
Anyways, gotten the Golden Teensy, and 50 000 lums now also, need to unlock just a few more skins, same as Haruka.
So, my 50 cents, or however the saying goes, on Rayman Legends.
From a graphical point of view, it looks tremendous, Origins certainly had some impressive artworks involved, but Legends blows it out of the water, and I think Legends also seems to be reviving a tidbit of the atmospheric edge the series is known for, while I don't feel it's reached an optimal level, it's a nice step forward and it certainly helps to make the worlds more immersive than Origins could. There are so many details, and I loved those weird creatures in the background of the Toad Story levels, it certainly gave an old-school Rayman air to the area, I'd like to see more of that in the future. The artwork itself also feels more consistent than Origins, and I'm glad that Rayman and co were redrawn, they now feel like they belong in the incredible environments drawn up by art team, a very fine effort indeed. The 60 FPS is still there, and the way the game moves is most wondrous, it's a pity that online videos cannot truly show the absolute fluidity of motion, due to FPS limits.
In terms of sound, I agree with Haruka, there's less of a wacky air in the sound effects, and the high-pitched Rayman voice has been replaced with one that is much more fitting, and I like the little sounds that enemies make, particularly the Mexican Skeletons, it just makes me grin a little. Music is also nice, they fit the scenarios rather well, and there are some rather catchy tunes in there, the Origins piece continues to grace some tracks, a little like that tidbit from the Rayman 2 theme would turn up in other tracks in Rayman 2.
Gameplay-wise, it's not too different from Origins, though I'm glad they've managed to make it such that slapping doesn't throw other players off in segments where doing so would cause instant death, though slap fights can still occur in safer zones, so nice to see a balance there. The larger amount of cages, filled with Teensies once more, also encourages much more exploration, which is nice, and I also like how there are some levels which require you to deviate to fulfil tasks to progress, as opposed to just going straight from start to finish, I'd like to see more of this in the future.
The big thing, of course, if the Murphy integration, from the videos we saw of the non-Wii U versions, I think I wouldn't be wrong in saying that we were concerned, so it was nice to see that the final product does it rather well, though there are still times where you end up being screwed over by the little Greenbottle, or being confused from multitasking, for the majority of the experience, it's well done indeed, using the triggers to control rotating items, and circle to perform various tasks.
I also like how, although the developers were wise to realise the folly of making online co-op, they still added online features, I know many members here have thoroughly enjoyed competing in the challenges (my brother keeps beating me, cheeky so and so
The bosses were, for the most part, a step up from Origins, and playing them certainly kept me on my toes, my favourite boss being the Wrestler, but, I still think they need to be improved a little more, I don't get the same twang of satisfaction from beating a boss here, as I would beating the likes of Space Mama, Moskito, Mr. Sax, and various others, I don't know why this is the case, anyone want to help me out here?
Then we move on to the one thing Legends is excruciatingly weak in, the story, it seems the series storytelling is become increasingly nonexistent, the story in this game is the lightest we've ever seen, which is a pity too, I like having a story as it feels like an incentive to drive through the game, to see what happens next, Legends just does the same thing 5 times over, and it does feel repetitive after the third Dark Teensy chase, I do hope we begin to see some story in the next game, as I'm feeling a little starved right now when it comes to this aspect.
All in all, Legends is most impressive indeed, I'm glad that they've improved on most of Origins' negatives, I think there is still some improvement to be made in some areas, but it is a fantastic game and worth all the time I've sunk into it, the challenges give me a greater incentive to consistently return to the game, which is nice, seeing as I've not really replayed Origins at all since beating it. The question to answer now is, how do I feel it does compared to other games in the series? And to that, I'd say, not as good as the first two, but compared to Rayman 3...well, I might have to begrudgingly admit that I feel it might be better.
