Whoa! I didn't expect everyone to like it that much! Thanks! :D
Adsolution wrote:If there were an amount of atmosphere one could only handle in their lifetime, this game would have me gasping for one final breath.
You really do have a way with words. :P Yeah, some people I know say I take the whole atmosphere thing too seriously and even mock me for it, but I still think atmosphere is one of the, if not the most important thing in any form of entertainment, so I try to put lots in what I create. :)
Adsolution wrote:I've been thinking about it, and I'll also be remaking a lot of music from my own game as well to have that same kind of atmosphere... a lot of it was written out of excitement, and when I listen to wonderful tracks like these, I remember how much better they could have been had I put the thought into them. :mryellow:
Believe it or not, some of the things I write (story/music) are inspired by your music, so the thought of even more wonderful music is pure joy! ^^
Haruka wrote:Droolie, I listened to your music "The Last of the Teensies" and I really like it. It feels so sad, but yet it gives a feeling of solitaryness you know. :D Looking forward for more things!
Glad you feel the solitariness too! That was my intent. The place Blue will be at in the beginning of the game really is "the end of the world". :) Thanks! ^^

Honestly, I have to admire your dedication, and I can't wait to see how this all comes together, in the meantime, nice work as always.
Thank you :) I can't wait either, but I guess we have no other choice. It's far from being finished, but as you said, I think I have enough dedication, so let's hope I get it finished one day! :D

Droolie, that track you made is just yes. It's yes. Please, more yes please noah.

No, seriously, it's amazing. The little 'twiddlee-dums' on the piano are beautiful, the flute sears right through the air and pierces into my soul... sound like a spiritual wanker as I may, this is how I feel... It's dramatic, lively, dynamic - it's everything amazing music should be - in fact - it is amazing music.

I, er, well. Well done. No more fancy words. The music took them from me!

May I ask what program did you use to create the music?

Sure - I used FL Studio with Kontakt 5 as a plugin. I used samples from East West Quantum Leap (Ra, Symphonic Orchestra) and Alicia's Keys (best piano sample library I've heard so far!) for the piano. Did I pay for all of this, you ask? Well... :hehe:

I've been using Alicia's Keys as well, since October. It is indeed a beautiful piano sample, it holds virtually every kind of emotion you could want. Everything from the soft, light touch to the harsh, gritty slamming (no innuendo intended) can be achieved on that pretty thing.

Hm. I'll check that out then. I was already enjoying the Upright Piano that comes in the KONTAKT Band section, but I'd definitely enjoy a piano with some 'attitude' a whole deal more. I was just thinking that this morning when I was playing on my actual piano - that the software version isn't as alive as that one is.

Yeah, I know I'm bumping, but I just recently rewatched this, and I've always been meaning to ask about the music in there, was that yours or from elsewhere, I liked quite a few of the tracks in there, particularly in the Minisaurus Plains.

All of the music in that video was from Newgrounds. A lot of the tracks are from the artist NemesisTheory.
For example, the Minisaurus Plains track: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/19064

Also, I'm really sorry for not releasing anything nice lately. I was planning to get a nice new laptop and make some stuff with it that wasn't possible with my previous laptop. But I had no idea that I'd only have like 3-4 hours of free time per day this summer. I have to work to pay off the laptop. :/

The script is currently 30 pages long (44 if you count the Knowledge of the World and the idea list). I am sadly still at the second world, but that's mainly because I tend to get stuck very long times to perfect tiny little details. I'm currently writing about a livingstone wearing a fish mask and challenging Blue, but the dialogue's not quite funny enough yet. I've been stuck on it for a while but I think hard about it whenever I can (about 10 times per day at least). So yes, it will take a while, but whenever it's done, it will be perfect in my eyes. :)

I might release a nice song next month to confirm the project isn't simply dead. :P

Nice to hear that you are not stopped. :D By the way, are you still using Game Maker to do this?

It really helps to get into the right mood if you're looking to create something humorous. I was just playing a game with someone now, and we went of on a right giggle-spree after one simple odd thing happened in the game. You've got a Livingstone, yeah? And he's wearing something ridiculous and probably doing something ridiculous too. The setup is there. Now all you need is a little spark.

It reminds me of when I was writing something based off the humour used in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. I could so easily create something that was almost immediately funny, just because of the way the characters are presented. It helps to have good characters (or caricatures) to spike your humour muscles.

That's very true! :)
I already know this though, that's exactly what I've been doing (when I can). I think I had a good idea last night, let's see if I can get myself un-stuck today :D

Bump. I really need to post more here.

You might or might not have heard it, but Dreambound is going 3D.
Here's what I want it to look like:
http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh91 ... 8fbff4.png
Well, a little more detailed than that. This is very rough. ;)
It's the tutorial level, the one that goes with this music: https://soundcloud.com/byvar/dreambound_teensies
It's also the only part I can show without spoiling a little of the game. I really want to keep as much as I can a secret until I finish the script. That will take a while.

The story in that part goes like this:
During a particularly stormy night, Blue is washed up the shores of the Glade of Dreams. Barely able to move, he finds shelter and falls asleep. When he wakes up, 3 Teensie fishermen are standing around him, studying his lack of limbs. He yawns loudly, blinks, and the Teensies run. Blue gets up and follows the Teensies to their home. To do so, the player has to learn all about Blue's powers and the way he's controlled. It's basically a bit like the part outside the Fairy Council in Rayman 3. :)

That concept art seriously looks beautiful, I am guilty to admit I have not been following many Dreambound updates, but seeing at it's moving to 3D is fantastic! Good luck!

Didn't you once make an old 3d thing in GM prior to beginning this?
Well, either ways, I'm loving that concept artwork, here's hoping the 3d jump does you good, may I ask why you felt you wanted to change?

Keane wrote:This is still going on? What did I miss?
Not much. :P Things will only really start again once I finish writing everything, and that will take a long time. I just hope that those who signed up for it will be ready to read everything then - as the script will have not only have the main story but all of the sidequests and the Knowledge of the World as well, it will be huge.
Master wrote:Didn't you once make an old 3d thing in GM prior to beginning this?
Yep, it wasn't even in GM though, just some program that auto-generated pseudo-3D levels. That was pretty bad though :P

Thanks :) I wanted to change to 3D because a lot of what I write in the script would lose its effect in 2D. Not only would the cutscenes be extremely limited in a 2D space, but even in gameplay, the feeling of going towards something would be completely lost as you wouldn't be able to see what your target is until you're close to it.

Bump so I can show off the music variety in the game. Make sure to read the descriptions too so you know where the music plays.
Can you find the Rayman music reference in each of these new songs? ^^
