Not trying to get anyone down here, but André was literally a joke. Mr Dark and Razorbeard menacing villains. Yes, they existed in the context of a colourful kids' series, and there's definitely humour in Razorbeard, but ultimately they're both played straight. The deconstructionist approach of Rayman 3 is intrinsic to André. They deliberately made the most pathetic, irritating, anti-climactic villain they could imagine. I appreciate a lot of what they tried to do in that game, but André's success was limited, and he probably wouldn't work at all in a sequel.dartofthedavros wrote:also does anyone want andre and THE mr.dark to be relevant again?

And yet Ancel wanted to make him return in the canceled Rayman 4 (that for one side I'm glad the game ended up canceled).
Re: Rayman Legends
Rayman 4? Don't you mean Rabbids prototype?

Re: Rayman Legends
i'd like to see mr. dark or a new razor-plot unfold, with actoul story. that and Ly being playable or the domz or Pey'j having cameos
and @spiraldoor: i didn't mean andre returning as a main villain, i meant just being relevant, like the darktoons: there but not the main focus

Re: Rayman Legends
Ngh. I dare to say that the final boss in Rayman Legends is still a better enemy than André. No Reflux involved, though.

Re: Rayman Legends
2005-2006, the game that became the Raving Rabbids, and, had quite a marked effect on the franchise.
Hm, indeed, though I found the Reflux boss fight to be second to the original Mr. Dark boss fight, no offense to the Grolgoth, but I feel much more tense beating Reflux.sergiomonty wrote:Ngh. Re: Rayman Legends
He did say the game was going to be a comedy, though I can't imagine he'd have wanted to continue Rayman 3's cynicism. I don't know, maybe he had a particular take in mind for the character. I was more concerned about the free-roaming, the dodgy costumes and the fact that the game was going to be about rabbits.Haruka wrote:And yet Ancel wanted to make him return in the canceled Rayman 4 (that for one side I'm glad the game ended up canceled).
Well, at least André had a well-developed backstory and motivation and a lot of dialogue. The final boss of Legends just showed up out of nowhere, with no explanation or context or logic. I don't like André's personality, but he definitely had one.sergiomonty wrote:Ngh. I dare to say that the final boss in Rayman Legends is still a better enemy than André. No Reflux involved, though.
Re: Rayman Legends
The costumes were other thing that were worrying me. Between these and the Combat Fatigues from R3, guess what I'm gonna pick.

Re: Rayman Legends
I'm still beating my head against a wall trying to figure out if the Magician actually redeemed the nightmares (which is contradictory to Rayman Origins) or if he himself was doing his own thing by bullying female Teensies.
Maybe he doesn't care about nightmares anymore and went crazy and just decided to take revenge on Rayman and his friends.
Also...Why does the Magician want to kidnap female Teensies? are those the Teensies that made fun of him at school? Does he need love? Maybe sex?
Also, if nightmares multiplied, why did the Magician multiply into 5 Dark Teensies too? Did he become so evil and despicable that, in his fight against the nightmares he ended up becoming a nightmare himself? If that is the explanation, that would have been some cool psychological shit if it was explained properly.
Maybe Michel gave up on him and just decided to turn him into a recurring villain with no particular purpose other than destroying the Glade and making other Teensies hate him.
1. Both have the same problem: Different colours on the same model.
2. You're a diehard Rayman fan that grew with the originals, so you would normally go for the first entries. That means R3.
3. Naked Rayman is in the Legends list. And last time I heard, you went bananas for that skin. That means RL.

Re: Rayman Legends
Is it me or do the Darktoons from Back to Origins look smaller than they used to be?
Re: Rayman Legends
I don't think it's contradictory to Rayman Origins - that part of the script was scrapped, so he never had a fight against nightmares.sergiomonty wrote:I'm still beating my head against a wall trying to figure out if the Magician actually redeemed the nightmares (which is contradictory to Rayman Origins) or if he himself was doing his own thing by bullying female Teensies.

The way I see it, dreams become nightmares the moment they go out of control. If they want to destroy the Glade of Dreams, then of course they're nightmares.
Maybe the Magician was always a nightmare, just a well-disguised one. We may never know.

They do looks smaller, and those blue snake things with pincer mouth looks gigantic now, i almost screamed when I saw them. And the pink ones looks smaller in length at some parts.Bradandez wrote:Is it me or do the Darktoons from Back to Origins look smaller than they used to be?

Re: Rayman Legends
The final boss in my opinion of Rayman 3 was truly epic. I'm not talking about the VERY last part (even though it was still pretty awesome), but the 3 sections before that were pretty damn awesome, I think the floating/breaking platforms and the beautiful scenery is truly a 'final boss' calling the Legends final boss better than 3, is beyond me.sergiomonty wrote:Ngh. Anyways I'm guilty to admit here guys...... I got the Wii U version of Rayman Legends, HOWEVER, let me just say, I'M NOT RUSHING IT THIS TIME, and if you want my TRULY honest opinion, I'm having a much better time than the PC version because I'm playing multiplayer. I'm not kidding, I usually prefer single player in Rayman games but I HONESTLY am having so much fun with multiplayer with my brother. As I've said, I'm not rushing it. I got this game for something to prepare for before Wind Waker HD.

I have the wiiu version also, and mutiplayer is definitaly better than single player... unless you're partners a complete novice and troll, like one of my brothers.Rayfist wrote:The final boss in my opinion of Rayman 3 was truly epic. For some reason Putlocker decided to remove the Rayman Legends sprites I uploaded, so I uploaded them somewhere else:

Oh Jesuschrist. If that was officially confirmed as canon, it would totally blow my mind.Drolpiraat wrote: The way I see it, dreams become nightmares the moment they go out of control. If they want to destroy the Glade of Dreams, then of course they're nightmares.

No Reflux involved, I said. I meant, like. André.Rayfist wrote:The final boss in my opinion of Rayman 3 was truly epic. In fact, this comparison is unfair. Let's start again and put Reflux and the final boss of Rayman Legends away. Let's compare the masterminds behind all of the crap happening: André and The Magician himself.
Pros
-Used to be a friend of Rayman and Betilla
-Tricked Rayman to get enough Lums to power-up his very own empire.
-Has incredible abilities of engineering
-Tamed a Dragon, presumably many dragons.
-He can make people work for him even if they're bigger and stronger than him
-Currently knows magic and clonation.
-Funny villain
Cons
-He can easily lose focus and be distracted
-Teensies used to bully him, and somehow they still do. He's of the physically weak type.
-Has so much comic relief that its hard to take him seriously.
-A total coward. He uses to run away a lot.
Pros
-Can infect other Lums to become black Lums
-Every clone that he creates makes a swarm of evil black that can take the hair out of beasts and create clothes with it.
-Such coats turn black lums into Hoodlums, humanoid creatures that invade the Glade and conquer everything on their path.
-Each one of them has powerful guns.
-Was able to redeem Reflux and make him use the power of the Leptys for his own evil business.
Cons
-He's annoying. Like. Real annoying... and yells a lot.
-Not very intelligent. He just wants to infect everything and destroy everyone with no particular reason.
-Can be easily caught (in Globox's belly).
-Has no particular powers if there are no lums near him.
-Can be defeated with a grimace.
Winner:
The Magician. Why, because he can beat him just by using this:
I thought we all agreed that the Wii U version is the best version and at least has the best multiplayer.Anyways I'm guilty to admit here guys......
