Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
The only console Rabbids game I've played was the first one on PS2, I never owned a Wii when 2 and TV came out, and by the time I got a Wii, I wasn't interested in the Rabbids series anymore, they'd split from Rayman at that point.
Credit where it's due, the first one was pretty darn good, I admit, a small sliver of my being is still irked when looking at how Rayman was portrayed, but I've moved on, though I don't consider the series to be canon, unlike some here. But I digress, the minigames themselves were a lot of fun, even with the traditional DualShock controls as opposed to the intended motion, I loved the Flying Downwards minigames in particular, and the soundtrack, though not having that Rayman flavour, given the nature of the game, was still pretty good and fit the premise this game had. Playing it as it was intended to be, as a party game, was also a popular option, and I did enjoy playing it with siblings and friends, so, I guess in that regard, RRR did succeed in a way.
I've played the DS incarnations of RR2 and TVP, but I can't really remember much of 'em, but I enjoyed them, so I guess they have that going for them.

Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
Ah yes I forgot about the DS ports- I had RRR and RRR2. RRR was certainly impressive as it was a platformer, pretty short but I would say it's my favourite of the Rabbids series. As for RRR2, I got annoyed with the games which needed the use of the mic, but I guess the rest was alright.Master wrote: I've played the DS incarnations of RR2 and TVP, but I can't really remember much of 'em, but I enjoyed them, so I guess they have that going for them.
Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
Wait, Rayman 4 was supposed to have Rabbids?Rayfist wrote:I ditched the Rabbids after TV Party. I knew where the series was headed once it reached TV party, and I wasn't going to be a part of that. The rabbids are starting to become the call of duty of Ubisoft, I'm so glad they seperated the Rabbids and Rayman, the way it should be. I find the Rabbids to be truly uninteresting as a character themselves, since RRR TV party they've really lost the whole humor touch for me. As I've said I DID enjoy RRR1 and RRR2, but now the series is becoming a quick cash in.
Do you guys remember the first trailer for 'Rayman 4' being when the rabbids invade. Sure they still were... silly, but look at how much of a fucking threat they were. I think the rabbids silly style is very unappealing now, and I think it's a shame R4 got cancelled, because I think the rabbids could have made a good addition to the universe and a good villain, stupid, yes, but at the same time a great threat.
Rayman Raving Rabbids Prototype is the only thing I can think of based of your description.

Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
@Serza, Oh yeah, played that to completion too, it was pretty decent, seemed to be using a modified Rayman DS engine. It was fun to romp through, but it wasn't anything spectacular, though it was interesting seeing a 2.5D Rayman done in that way.

Well the video on youtube was titled 'Rayman 4 trailer', gotta stop getting the wrong sources. It is worthy of the title Rayman 4 if it were to come to the light.Oldclassicgamer wrote:Wait, Rayman 4 was supposed to have Rabbids?

Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
I think we all called it Rayman 4 regardless of whether or not it was in the title back then, yeesh, I can't believe this was 6 years ago...
Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
I had never seen the trailer, so when I went to the store to get my Wii and saw a brand new Rayman I went nuts. Oh the disappointment. At least the fact that it was my first time with motion control made it somewhat fun.Master wrote:I think we all called it Rayman 4 regardless of whether or not it was in the title back then, yeesh, I can't believe this was 6 years ago...
Same thing here. I never played Travel in Time again after I first bought it. My brother were actually shocked at how fucking horrible that game was. Such an immense lack of any effort. Strange really, because the previous titles, Go Home, was really not that bad.Haruka wrote:At least I leart my lesson in 2010 with RRTIT, sadly. Rabbids are getting too milked. Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
Why not do another 3D Platforming Rabbids game for consoles?
Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
I found Rabbids Go Home unecessairly repetitive (and somehow impossible to get all the collectibles in all the levels) but at least it is a better game than Travel in Time. Three weeks after buying TIT, I regretted the purchase. Since then I sweared I wasn't buying a new Rabbids title anymore. Nowadays I only stick with the french comic books (that ARE good), I pretty much ignore the new Rabbids titles since then.
@Keane Back in the release of the Wii, I was really excited to learn about the release of a new Rayman where you would (suppousely) beat up zombie Rabbids with the movements of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. When I bought the console in that day and asked for the game, they say the national distributors were late and only in the next week they would receive copies (and this story repeated with Rayman Legends but I was more smart this time and not buying the game to them but yes through Amazon). Funny enough, I only managed to see a copy one year later. When I see Rayman getting stuck in the hole and nothing else happening, I couldn't believe that the game merely resumed to mini-games instead of the promised platformer. I admit, in the first years, I had fun with the game and the gameplay mechanics, but since around 2010/2011, the game started to gradually feel that it really aged (opinion) in terms of fun and humour of the Rabbids. I believe it was a fashion that had its time already.

Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
I remember in 2006 I was hoping that after Rayman escapes prison, the real adventure would start. And that I would get to kick Rabbids like on trailer I saw.
Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
I never bothered finishing the game. I remember those bird pooping cutscenes were extremely repetitive, even more so than the Dark Teensies in legends!
Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
And to me, it was not funny at all. 360 version has funny loading screen though. But it can get boring too.
Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
Rayman Raving Rabbids was alright for its time. The mini-games made it one of the best games to purchase with the system because it used the motion control to its full control. The game has aged indeed. It feels tons more aged then Rayman 3.Haruka wrote:@Keane Back in the release of the Wii, I was really excited to learn about the release of a new Rayman where you would (suppousely) beat up zombie Rabbids with the movements of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. When I got to the ending of the game I figured it had more endings. I was kinda horrid at the game in my first playtrough, so it made sense. So when I eventually found out that was the real ending... well... wow. What a let down. It's literally just "Rayman escapes, then realises trough an almost nightmarish scene that Ubisoft did everything to make him the exact opposite of how he was in Rayman 2, and he gets stuck in a hole. THE END!" Back then I wasn't really an expert on what makes a game good and when one game was better then the other I didn't really think about it, but Rabbids quickly became on the biggest let down series I ever played. Seeing first screenshots of Raving Rabbids 2 in [N]Gamer I was happy to see that the unsatisfying end would receive a sequel to fix it up. What did we get? Rayman in the real world acting pathetic and then having a Rabbid voice for the remainder of the game.
Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
Motion controls are acually what I disliked so I liked PS2/PC/360 version best from consoles
as for GBA and DS, it was more awesome then console version expecially GBA.

Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
Ehhh, the GBA game was a very basic platformer that wasn't anymore special then Rayman 3 for the GBA. The DS version is kinda shitty. The visuals are so blurry it's not appealing to look at, the music is low quality and ugly, and it takes no more then maybe 3-5 hours to complete the whole game. Although I guess that's still a lot better compared to RRR2 for the DS which I managed to 100% in a one hour car drive.OldClassicGamer wrote:Motion controls are acually what I disliked so I liked PS2/PC/360 version best from consoles

"No more Rabbids man!"
At least in Rayman game.
Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
I wasn't saying the contrary. At that time, yes, the game was one of the best Wii titles you could get for the system and it was really good, but it kinda aged pretty quickly since I don't think it is as fun as it was at that time. The motion/minigames thing got too banal.Keane wrote:Rayman Raving Rabbids was alright for its time. I'll be honest, I enjoyed RRR2 more than RRR1, at least it was the only game in the RRR trilogy that was fully completable. Now TVParty was the worse of all.Keane wrote:Seeing first screenshots of Raving Rabbids 2 in [N]Gamer I was happy to see that the unsatisfying end would receive a sequel to fix it up. The GBA version is the "closest" we have of the Rayman 4 game we were about to have, but it definitely feels an incomplete game. Have you noticed that when you defeat the giant robot you simply see a picture of Rayman, Ly and Murfy all happy and nothing else happens? Not even a credits roll?Keane wrote:Ehhh, the GBA game was a very basic platformer that wasn't anymore special then Rayman 3 for the GBA. The DS version is kinda shitty. Although the DS version isn't really spectacular in the graphics and sound quality (I honestly think that both things could have been much better done), but it is an enjoyable game. At least I particularly liked how it used the Rayman 2 engine to play the game and you could simultaneously use a fist or an energy sphere.
The sequel for DS was ok, but the score mode didn't take a lot of time either to get all the golden trophies. Now for the TVParty for DS, god damnit, it is ultra repetitive and the score mode is unecessairly long. I am not bothering in getting the trophies in the TVP score mode, it is not worth the time.

TV Party is... well... it exists.Haruka wrote:I'll be honest, I enjoyed RRR2 more than RRR1, at least it was the only game in the RRR trilogy that was fully completable. Now TVParty was the worse of all.
I'm not sure what exactly made them think a GBA version of the game was necessary, seeing as the DS was already around for a while. Needless to say, it's rushed. Oh, so, so rushed.Haruka wrote:The GBA version is the "closest" we have of the Rayman 4 game we were about to have, but it definitely feels an incomplete game. I really dislike the RRR2 for the DS. It's not worth the money to play a couple bland mini-games. And TV Party, I thought the game was hilarious, but not for the reasons they intended. Was Go Home for the DS anything fair? I remember a Mario VS. Donkey Kong clone.Haruka wrote:Although the DS version isn't really spectacular in the graphics and sound quality (I honestly think that both things could have been much better done), but it is an enjoyable game. Re: Rayman Raving Rabbids
RRR1 will always be my favourite from Rabbids series because I could actually play it with controller. RRR2 for PC is compatible with controller but it is not even a full port of Wii version. Plus game really had bad story and Rayman had Rabbid voice. Some mini games were ok but some were boring in my opinion. Also in Wii version like every game for Wii that does not support Classic or GameCube controller, controls were terrible.
