*in case you guys are confused, english college works differently from other college. it's 16-18. what you guys prolly call college we call university

I don't understand how can anyone prefer school over computer. I was glad when I was done with school.

School can be awesome man, I was sad to leave, and then spent a year living alone which was dull as fuck. The only fun was having mates over which unfortunately couldn't be all the time.

Pfff studying is overrated. I loved my last two years of school but I don't think I studied more than 2% of the time. And that's a generous estimate.

problem is i have my gcse's coming up, to be precise i'm taking two in January, and i already failed one of them before. :c my brother said i could take them at college if i failed again and just do three years there instead of two, or something like that. .3. not sure i want to do that, though.

Well, I'm currently in the second year of College, College being the point where education becomes optional, I've loved studying some of the mathematical concepts that have come up, as well as a helping of physics, and the rather fun lesson of Electronics.

As for the GCSE discussion, well, my maths teacher back in high school bigged it up on purpose to scare us into revising like hell, the exam itself was rather anticlimatic. I hated having to write all those essays and the like for English, not because they were overtly difficult, but because my hands hurt terribly once I put the pen down.

I prefer my laptop over the school any day! What I meant is that it gets boring because I don't do anything but sitting on my ass for the whole day. Even though you still sit in class, at least you're doing something productive instead of doing nothing/playing games.

I spent a whole year and 4 months, 16 hours a day in front of my screen. I think I reached the insanity level.

Man you guys are all in college and stuff like that, i'm still in high school because I failed my second grade there twice. Dammit depression, you shouldn't have came in while I was still in school, at least its gone now.

Well, College here is the equivalent to High School in some other countries I believe, and I'm in the equivalent of Grade 12.

I'm still confused with grade numbers since we don't use them here. I think i'm the equivalent of grade 8? Because when I count the number of year I passed there ( excluding one because it was more like a playground thing than school ) I end up with the number 8. But since i'm in adult school I don't even know anymore, I could end up with grade 8 of French ( need to do some book thing so they can know first ), grade 7 of Math ( I suck ) and grade 11 of English ( the classes are so easy ). So I just.
College here is right after high school, then there is university after.

How it works here in terms of grouping and ages.

Nursery - 3-4

Primary (Infants):
Year R/Reception - 4-5
Year 1 - 5-6
Year 2 - 6-7

Primary (Juniors):
Year 3 - 7-8
Year 4 - 8-9
Year 5 - 9-10
Year 6 - 10-11

Secondary (High School):
Year 7 - 11-12
Year 8 - 12-13
Year 9 - 13-14
Year 10 - 14-15
Year 11 - 15-16

College (Bear in mind, you can repeat years, so this is if you were to go through it without doing a repeat):
Year 12 - 16-17
And, where I'm now, Year 13 - 17-18.

Hopefully, that helps in terms of comparison.

Here, we don't have any formal exams to deal with in Secondary 'til Year 10 and 11, which are the GCSEs Mlii's worrying about, the years prior to that are preparation for those, but in fairness, we did have an official exam called SATs before to do in Year 9, but they were scrapped, now, in Year 9, there's still a big exam, but it's internal.

We got big exams for all the classes at the end of each year here. But I haven't heard of any other exams than them.

We had end of year tests as well, but those were internally marked, not national exams.

I have no idea what external and internal means for that, all exams are obligated to be done in school. No idea what a national exam is but we call the exams "minister exams".

As in, are the exams done and maintained by your school only (internal)? Or are they done nationally (external)?

Oh, well they are done by the whole province so I guess external.
