I'm pretty sure I'd be all over a Transformers game that held the same concept, just as long as the toys stayed as they were and not end up as motionless statues.

Re: Rayman Legends
GTA V is selling more than THE BIBLE, and not just in America. It outsold Call of Duty in the UK. People are also certainly talking about it like it is the Bible, saying it is better than classic games like Ocarina of Time. Personally, I never liked GTA and think it is WAY overrated.OldClassicGamer wrote:I'm gonna say this and probably many will disagree but I think if they released game in December it would be better for sales, because many people would aready beat GTA V at that point so they would go and also buy RL. It is sad that most Americans prefer GTA over Rayman. While I like both series, I do like Rayman better.Henchman1028 wrote:Rayman Legends is doing bad in sales right now. I don't know what Ubisoft was thinking, releasing it on the same month as GTA V. They made the same mistake with Origins.

Re: Rayman Legends
I like GTA series but there is no way it is better then any classic from the 90's and such.

Re: Rayman Legends
Y'know what, I'm actually going to disagree here. (OCG, the first game came out in '97, by the way.)
I know, GTA seems to be one of those big pieces of crud that seems cool, and I probably wouldn't be wrong in saying that some probably by it just because of its popularity factor, but they're good games. They don't make them once per year, and put time aplenty into them, from what I've heard, GTA V began development in 2008, so it's taken them around 5 years to make this, that's quite a hefty investment of time, and it is the most expensive game made, so there's the money factor too.

Re: Rayman Legends
I think GTA V looks nothing less like a true masterpiece but I'm not sure if I'd be willing to call it a match for a game like Ocarina. Of course I haven't played the game so I won't judge. I do think GTA's "movie-game" way of doing things wouldn't make it one of my favourites. As intriguing as a game may be I dislike an overdoses of cutscenes. Half-Life is being such a blast for me because rather then putting in a half hour of film into the games your experiencing the events that would normally be in them. If anyone else had been behind the game they would have had a cutscene where the experiment goes wrong. Instead your actually doing these things. You know that when the screen goes black at the end you've been responsible for every step taken and every decision made.

Re: Rayman Legends
Even though I like Ocarina, I think Wind Waker is better. I heard the HD version fixed some of the issues with the original, like sailing and the Triforce Hunt.

I understand what you are saying. I know that first game came in 1997, but I did not like them (I don't think they are bad games but I don't like them)Master wrote:Y'know what, I'm actually going to disagree here. (OCG, the first game came out in '97, by the way.)

FIrst one I liked was GTA 3.

Re: Rayman Legends
I don't give a single shit about GTA.
...but I guess everyone else does, so.... yeah...
Also, yes, Rayman Legends is selling like shit. Like the AVGN would say: WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!
Compete against GTA V? that's just killing themselves.
I've said this and I'll say it again:
Porting this game and delaying the Wii U version at the same time was a TERRIBLE idea.

I understand what you mean, Keane. I like games because of their interactive element, shoving too many cutscenes and trying too hard to make things "cinematic" doesn't really take my fancy, however, despite its movie-like tone, you'll be surprised just how much GTA V offers, and the variety it has is certainly wonderful.

Re: Rayman Legends
Yeah. Not only did it piss off a lot of Wii U owners (As well as Ancel and his team) who are now boycotting the game, but lead to it getting slaughtered by GTA V, just like what happened with Origins when they released it on the same month as MW3 and BF3.sergiomonty wrote:I don't give a single shit about GTA.

Re: Rayman Legends
Microsoft is to blame the most for not allowing Ubisoft to release Wii U version. If Microsoft allowed them to release Wii U version first, it would be missing some content from PS3/360 and PC versions since it was released before, but game update could always fix that in future. That way, sales would be much better. I really dislike Microsoft's policy. If game stayed Wii U exclusive, I am not sure how would it sell then.
Re: Rayman Legends
All this talk makes me think of how Legends would've turned out in terms of content if it wasn't delayed.

Re: Rayman Legends
Considering the final product itself feels thin, and is bloated only due to Back to Origins and a few other extras, I do admit, it does make me wonder how big the original thing was going to be.
Re: Rayman Legends
I can live with not playing GTA V. I mean I will at some point but probably not anytime soon. What really just gets on my nerves is how every gaming related thing on the web is now being bombed with GTA spam. "What's this? Nintendo releasing another super gay WII FIT?! HA! GTA is so much better! The guns are way cooler!"sergiomonty wrote:I don't give a single shit about GTA.

I actually like it better too. As well as Majora's Mask.Henchman1028 wrote:Even though I like Ocarina, I think Wind Waker is better. I heard the HD version fixed some of the issues with the original, like sailing and the Triforce Hunt.
Oh I'm certain it's an excellent game. I just... agh. Not a big fan of cutscenes. Even with great games like Metal Gear Solid the five minute cutscenes where they try to put in as much dialogue as possible just annoys me. I'm playing the game, I wanna keep playing. Sure, tell me story, I love that, it's one of the most important aspects to me, but don't do it in a way that I have to pause my gameplay for it. One major mistake many games make is that story is only told trough cutscenes and not the gameplay. As a result the whole point of the game is just "Gun down people. Get more story." Like I said, Half-Life does it so well. Trough terms of environment and the few friendly people you meet it manages to tell a great deal of story. Despite its 15 year old age Half-Life's way of doing this is still amazing as ever. Even Valve's own Portal didn't really manage that. Yeah, you learned about Aperture, but we don't really know anything about how it functioned. What the people did and how they acted. There's a ton of things that remain vague and we'll likely never get an answer to it all.Master wrote:I understand what you mean, Keane. Ack. It seems I'm rambling on again.
Re: Rayman Legends
Even though I really love Legends, I must criticize on how the main mode felt short and somewhat lacking in longer levels.
With this GTA V talk too I mostly enjoy the games just to wreak havoc.

Re: Rayman Legends
Same. I was never able to do more then 3 missions in a row without screwing around for at least 20 mins. Not to mention fun with mods and cheats

Re: Rayman Legends
I never could get seriously into GTA, though I did enjoy mucking about in it, specifically in San Andreas. Though, I will admit, the campaign of GTA V looks like a significant improvement over past installments. My brother has it, so I'll try the game out eventually.
Oh boy, my third post on this forum and I'm already off topic!
Anyway, I got Rayman Legends for Wii U on day 1, and had played the Challenge App a lot prior to that. It's one of my favourite games now, and is my number one Rayman game for sure. Unless Sonic Lost World for Wii U tops it or matches it for me, it's my single favourite game of 2013. I've 100%'d it, including getting 1 million lums, but I play the challenges religiously, and I actually like replaying levels just for fun (sometimes I even speedrun regular levels!). I could honestly gush about this game for quite a while!
It's a pity I didn't know about that Beyond Gaming competition sooner though. I may have actually stood a chance at winning had I knew about it from the get go. I still joined on Thursday, and will try to place as highly as I can, but I doubt I'll make it to the semi-finals.

We tend to go off topic sometimes so don't worry
I am actually suprised Rayman Legends is your favourite Rayman game ever since I don't think I met anyone here with same opinion, but I like it as well. It is in my top 3. Plus it is cool to have people with different opinions.
