I agree. As far as we know, it could have just been a coincidence.

Nothing to be sorry for, just to prevent speculation being presented as fact.
There is certainly some resemblance.

There's no doubt which track is the best one from Origins.

I don't think we ever actually figured out the whole Murray/mini-Murray/eel thing, did we?

Hmm, couldn't the Murray be related with the giant eels that pursuit Rayman in the beginning? The nightmare form of the King Prawn looks more like a sea dragon.

I personally see no logic in naming a level with the main emphasis on the Shrimp king boss fight after eels that chase the player in the beginning (yes, they are giant eels, but still a more minor enemy than the King), let alone name the giant eels but leave the actual ruler of the Sea nameless. So it is hard to believe that the eels are called Murray and the shrimp king is just a shrimp king.

Does anyone else prefer the Land of the Livid Dead from Rayman 3 over the one from this game and Legends? I know it is suppose to be the Rayman equivalent of Hell in this game and Legends (The Infernal Kitchen and The Underworld part of Olympus Maximus are both Hell-themed (With a mix of food for the Infernal Kitchen) too, though), but I like it much better the way it is in 3.

Basically this. I think it's fucking stupid to even think that Murray refers to the eels at the beginning.

Nay, I disagree. While I do love R3's Land of the Livid Dead theme, I did enjoy Origins' track way more.

And I bloody told you all those were red jellyfish coming outta Murray!

The Land of the Livid Dead is one of Rayman 3's stronger sections and may be my favourite world in terms of gameplay. Origins and Legends take on the place I must say is pretty damn cool too but (just barely) I agree with you.

Then again, I'm not sure how these two places are even connected. They share nothing but a name. Were they just too lazy to come up with a new name or is this one of the many scrapped idea's from Origins? :?

I still think that the Origins LotLD fits the name better than the R3 version. I like "The Moor of Mad Spirits" better for that one, since water plays a really big role in that level.

It was one of the beta names for the level. Everything in R3 had a different name at some point.

He didn't invent, that was the prototype name of the level.

It's just another instance of Origins's bizarre relationship with the previous Rayman games – namely references which are direct and specific but make no actual sense on any level.

Those bizarre relationships make it feel like they wanted to get rid of the prequel idea but were too far into production to fully do that. The introduction has nothing to do with the main game and the actual story (If you can call it that) is just a confusing set of random things that make no sense. Seriously, what the hell is Big Mama's point of being in the game? And the she becomes some random nymph and the end...? I want to understand this game but I don't think there is anything. It's just too bad that this mess still managed to redesign the Magician into a worthless character.

I like to think of the naming of the Land of the Livid Dead as a sort of inside joke within the franchise.

Anyone who heard the name "Land of the Livid Dead" before actually seeing it in Rayman 3 would of thought it was a hellish underworld of sorts, using simple logic and association. Globox even lampshades this. Which is why it's a funny surprise in Rayman 3 when you find it to be rather tranquil.

Rayman Origins is trying to fool players who already played through Rayman 3 by not showing them what the level looks like before it loads up (the loading screen doesn't exactly show the level's true aesthetics off too much). So before Rayman 3 players see the level as it is in Origins, they may think it's going to be peaceful like it was in Rayman 3, maybe a relaxing level as a reward for collecting the Skull Teeth. Then when the level loads up in Origins, it turns out to be what one would logically assume it to be based on it's name, but because Rayman 3 players already had their logical assumption fail them in that game, they believe the logical thing to assume now would be a throwback level to the peaceful level from Rayman 3. Causing a bit of confusion momentarily.

The joke also works for players who play Origins first, and then Rayman 3. Their logical assumption will prove correct in Origins, leading them to believe it will hold true in Rayman 3, when in fact, it doesn't.

Also, notice how both games inform you of levels existence before you see what it looks like.

If you look at it that way, the naming of the Origins level makes perfect sense. I honestly do believe it was their intention. I thought others may have realised it though.

Part of me wishes RO stayed as a prequel, and another part wishes it turned out to be a better sequel, ahh, so split on my feelings.
I think RO could've done well, had it tried to present its story more clearly, and made the references to previous games more obvious and with more seriousness, I think we've all raved about how lacking the Reveal was, given what it had the potential to be.
