Re: Rayman 1
Oh, shame, the uploader deleted it. It was a drawing of Rayman helicoptering with blood in hair and bizarrely-drawn dead birds falling from the sky.

Rayman.exe
Re: Rayman 1
It wasn't all that scary, it was basically a trace of the R1 helicoptering sprite, with that content smile and all, and a clear blue sky...emshomar wrote:Rayman.exe
Okay, it was kinda creepy.

I got a quick peek at it, wasn't really creepy at all, certainly not to that level, Em.

Re: Rayman 1
I haven't posted here an a while, but I did have quite a bit of trouble with Rayman [PlayStation version] on my first try, and eventually ended up repeatedly using the 99 lives cheat to regain lost health. However, after my first playthrough and some additional practice, I was able to become a fairly good player. You can see how the quality of my Rayman videos inproved over the course of time. It's much harder the first time, when you don't know what in the cosmic fuck you should do, and haven't really developed your own playing style yet. For me, cages are only a problem in the PC version (and the handheld ports of the PC version)Keane wrote:Are there really that many people that have trouble with Rayman 1's gameplay? I won't say it's not extremely hard at times but with ever since my first one or two full playtroughs I don't have too much trouble with it anymore. My main dislike is having to get all the cages. Some of them require you to do things that can be something like jumping to your death. Plus, something inside you painfully dies when you go back to Space Mama's Crater and then fail to get a cage for the second time. I can find about 70% of the cages from what I know but the others are not completed without a walktrough.
Also, I now have lost all the videos of Rayman for PC due to a stupid mistake I made when transferring the files, so I'm going to have to restart the whole fucking thing.
-_-
Re: Rayman 1
I kinda have trouble with the gameplay. I think it has its cheapshots. Hell, I had trouble with one level in the Advanced port I was reduced into using some cheat codes.
Re: Rayman 1
Rayman Advance was the second Rayman game I ever played. First was Rayman 3 GBA (bleh!).
If I remember correctly, I either defeated Mr Skops or at least got to that level.

I managed to get to Mr. Stone on the Advanced port. I want to play it again.

The first part of Eraser Plains is a fucking bitch. -_-Bradandez wrote:I kinda have trouble with the gameplay. I think it has its cheapshots. Hell, I had trouble with one level in the Advanced port I was reduced into using some cheat codes.
ADVANCE???? That's easy compared to the PSX one! If you're going to play again, the NTSC-U PSX version is the way to go. The Saturn one is also pretty good, but the sound is awful.
EDIT: If you don't have a PS console, I recommend using the XEBRA emulator. ePSXe and PCSX-R aren't bad, but there are some pretty terrible sound bugs when playing Rayman. Hell, I don't think Rayman will even load on the later versions of ePSXe!
Re: Rayman 1
I plan on buying the PC version but it'll be a while since I don't exactly have my own spending money.
Re: Rayman 1
One thing I loved about Advance was how easy it was to grind for lives in Allegro Presto. I managed to get 99 lives that way. Also, I loved the music of the first part of that level.
Re: Rayman 1
The main menu music was good but it was compressed in order for it to be compatible with the GBA.
Re: Rayman 1
I didn't really care for most of the tracks Rayman Advance modified, the title screen theme was the only one that I liked, and it was only fair to say the least. I believe one member here likened the soundtrack's quality to as if "it were played on a broken Casio Keyboard."
Re: Rayman 1
I really like the Rayman Advance soundtrack.
Re: Rayman 1
I don't mind the compressed music, just disappointed some music tracks were left out.

Re: Rayman 1
I honestly don't like the PC version. It is second to the Jaguar version as my least favorite *original* version of the games. The PlayStation and Saturn versions are much better, and, with emulators, can be played on your PC.Bradandez wrote:I plan on buying the PC version but it'll be a while since I don't exactly have my own spending money.
I like the Blue Mountains tracks in RA, but that's about it. I think it was really stupid to use the Mr. Dark theme for almost every boss in the entire frickin' game.
Re: Rayman 1
Well I can never properly install a PS emulator so...PC version it is then.

To play the game with XEBRA:Bradandez wrote:Well I can never properly install a PS emulator so...PC version it is then.
1) Download the emulator. (Click on the image at the bottom of the page for the latest version.)
2) Create a virtual drive or put in a physical copy of Rayman.
3) Configure the controls.
4) Create virtual memory cards (a lot easier than it sounds; just go to the file menu in XEBRA).
4) Open the CD with XEBRA.
That's all you need to do. Trust me that it is worth setting up the emulator to play the infinitely superior PlayStation version of the game. The looped music and missing SFX in the PC version just kills the game's atmosphere.
Re: Rayman 1
I dunno. I'm kinda iffy when it comes to programs that require instructions like that. :/
Re: Rayman 1
Those are the easiest instructions ever. If you can use flash and draw then you wont have problem with something easy as emulator. check emulators topic. Oh and don't use Xebra. Use ePSXeBradandez wrote:I dunno. I'm kinda iffy when it comes to programs that require instructions like that. :/
