Re: Rayman 2
Definitely one of the best versions I say.
Re: Rayman 2
Best version indeed. Plus playing with 360 controller if using Emulator is really good.Haruka wrote:The Dreamcast version is the best Rayman title I've ever played, in all levels. It features really nice extras that the other versions don't have, and if you play in a real console you can get delighted by the fluid framerate of 60FPS and super sharp and responsive controls. There are no excuses to not play this version.

Of course, if laptop is underpowered, then there's not much one can do, when I obtain a more powerful system, playing the DC version completely is a point on my to-do list.

Re: Rayman 2
I plan to get Rayman Revolution soon, have always wanted it. Might get it when I'm getting Sonic Lost World and the two case packs for Layton Brothers: Mystery Room, as I need to deposit money into my bank account to get those, and the only way I can get Revolution is buying it online.

Re: Rayman 2
I think I've ranted enough about how miffed I was about losing the PS2 and Revolution, and how I can't buy it on PSN.
Re: Rayman 2
Can I see the rant? I don't remember it. And why can't you buy it on PSN?Master wrote:I think I've ranted enough about how miffed I was about losing the PS2 and Revolution, and how I can't buy it on PSN.

Re: Rayman 2
Meh, while I didn't rant per se, I did express how upset I was when our PS2 broke, and we had to sell the games on.
I can't buy it on PSN as I'm not able to make online transactions yet, and it is made more difficult seeing as it's US exclusive, I have a US PSN, but no funds.

Re: Rayman 2
That is bummer dude. So you don't have anyone who could do online transactions for you? My bro is underage but I do it for him. I will try to help you by finding PSN US redeem code when YouTube throws some cash. How much is game on PSN?

Eeh, don't bother, I appreciate the favour, but putting that effort in for someone, that in all fairness in honesty, you don't really know irl, isn't wise.

Re: Rayman 2
How long has Revolution been on the US PSN? If it was recent enough, I might just wait for an eventual EU release.

Been quite some time, definitely over a year at the least.

Meh, no point in me waiting for an EU release that may never come then.

Re: Rayman 2
I looked it up, May 2012, doesn't look likely to hit here at all.
Re: Rayman 2
The Dreamcast is the version I'd like to play the most but my laptop seems underpowered so I can't use an emulator.

Re: Rayman 2
Just started the PSOne version of Rayman 2 today.
It's very jarring going back to it after playing the PC port not too long ago. The graphics in general look a lot more jagged than I remember them being on the PSOne version, and I definitely miss the "Raymanian" voices. The only character that sounds decent in the English voice cast so far is Ly, and maybe the Teensie Kings.
I've also noticed some odd level design changes, and in general it's passing by quicker and it's even easier than the PC version.
Still fun, and the atmosphere is enjoyable, but the PSOne version definitely is a bogged down port and is not as good as I remember. I'll have it beaten in no time if I just charge through it. I'll probably leave it for my 3 hour breaks in college, 2 or 3 of those will be enough time to complete it.

Knowing R2 for PS1 by heart, will make you complete the game in just 3 hours.

Whoa, impressive!
I consider myself pretty much adept with Rayman 2 PS1, but I've never beaten it in such time!

Re: Rayman 2
Is that considered impressive?
I didn't think it was. The PS1 version is noticeably shorter than the PC version I played recently. Which was why I didn't think anything of the playtime.
Plus, I did mess up a few times, both in terms of general platforming, and in terms of missing one or two items that I needed to go back for after completion (I missed like, 3 lums on my initial run due to camera issues, and missed two cages due to stupidity on my part, so I had to go back to them after defeating Razorbeard and beating the 2D demo).
Though it was worth playing through. It was interesting to see all of the changes made to the PSone version. What surprised me the most was probably the omission of the wall-jump technique. I always thought that was a neat little ability in the PC version, even if I rarely used it. Odd that they removed it.
But you were right about the final boss fight, it's far better than the one in the PC version.

Not odd at all, the wall jumping in Rayman 2 is a bug.sonicbrawler182 wrote:Though it was worth playing through. It was interesting to see all of the changes made to the PSone version.
