TV Tropes

Post by SilentSanctuary »

What do you think of TV Tropes? Is it useful? Is it fun? Is it annoying? And most of all: Will it ruin your life?

Link: http://tvtropes.org/

In case someone doesn't know it already, TV Tropes is a wiki catalogue of "tropes" used in films, books, culture overall and even Real Life. Tropes are devices and 'rules' that creators use when writing fiction, and they also occur naturally. The point is that an element of a story or occurrence is similar to a different story, or occurrence.

TV Tropes ruined my life. I'm slowly becoming a more active troper. I thought that it would be a good time to contribute since so many new western animated shows are on their way.

I used to like it, but some of the biased information is fucking annoying and I especially hate when someone tries to describe how "epic" something is and GETS ALL EMOTIONAL AND OVERREACTS ABOUT IT

Meh, sometimes people do tend to overdo things there, but on the whole, it can be a little too engrossing.

Not my favorite site, but it can be addicting. However, it will ruin your life, end of. That's not a problem though, as so will the Internet in general.

Have fun throwing away your academic career like I did someday in the near future, kids!

Need I say more? But this is true for the Internet in general.

Haha, I know right? It's like the site suddenly gets angry and starts yelling at you. :P

i've never been on a tropes site, but i really hate spotting them on tv. that new show "dads" had one that upset the fuck out of me. it was a very racist seen of a japaneese girl in a sailor suit sucking up to some old prick. >:( i really hate sexual inequality shown on television like its socially exeptable!

I enjoy the site, it helps me with writing stuff but it does waste my time. A love/hate situation.

I like the site too, but it has ruined my life. I can no longer read books or watch movies the same way as before. But I enjoy reading stuff from TV Tropes.

I had a bad habit of reading the Nightmare Fuel/Real Life section (or the Fridge Horror/Real Life section) before I went to sleep when it still existed. Once they removed it, I had begun to sleep a lot better than before. Then I found them in Wayback Machine.

I tend to stick towards the Heartwarming side of things, 'cause I'm a sentimental sod.

I enjoy reading about those creepy revelations of Fridge Horror. As long as there's no cringeworthy overreacting...

I like browsing it from time to time. I generally look at the pages for games I really like and such, though not very often. Haven't had a reason to feel negative about.

Hmmm, I haven't seen any of the pages I look at with overreacting posts.

Meh, I'm sure there were a few tropers who acted that way about the 10th Doctor's regeneration.
