Re: Rayman Legends
Finally someone who pointed that. I was confused when he wrote that when I read it first time. Amy is clearly a Hedgehog. Rose is just a last name. Why other characters don't have it I dunno.

Wasn't her original name "Rosy the Rascal?"

Very much the same here.spiraldoor wrote:Same here, except for the positions of the first two, but it's a close call.Haruka wrote:My ranking still keeps like this: Rayman 2 > Rayman 1 > Rayman 3 > Rayman Legends > Rayman Origins.
And Sonic, when it comes to some of us considering certain games a "holy grail" that's also partly opinion. I'll admit that Rayman 2 is tons better then Rayman 1 but I simply prefer what R1 has to offer.

Re: Rayman Legends
I'm not going to write much, as you seem to have misunderstood a lot of what I said in my last long post anyway (partly due to my completely intentional vagueness, because I'm a lazy sod like that at times).I actually have lots of criticism for Rayman 1, 2 and 3 too. They are far from my favourite games, but they are good games. I really don't like it when people get confused in their temporary excitement and say completely false things about Rayman Legends though, like it having a greater variety of atmosphere or it being more open than Rayman 2. Those statements are not opinions, they are facts that are either true or false. And in this case, I hope I proved that they are false.
But there are some things you are claiming as fact, that most certainly are not. Some are opinions of yours, others are flat out wrong. An example of the latter is claiming Rayman 2 to be longer than Rayman Legends - Rayman Legends takes nearly as long to blaze through, as it takes to 100% Rayman 2. 100%ing Legends (not including the 1 million lum grind. I don't consider that part of 100%ing the game, as it's meant as a reward for those who care about the Challenges), takes nearly twice as long as 100%ing Rayman 2. That is a fact. The figures on my Daily Log on the Wii U say so. My playtime upon getting 700 Teensies in Legends was roughly 18 hours. I 100%'d the PC version of Rayman 2 in two, roughly 4 hour sittings, meaning it took me 8 hours.
Also, I don't need to play Rayman 2 to back up my points more, because I completed Rayman 2 for the first time a week before Legends came out in Europe (and I bought Legends on release). My memory is completely fresh on it (helped by the fact the game is inherently memorable), and I started to play the PS1 version of Rayman 2 last night, and I intend to complete that soon.
Again, I'm not writing another essay, but let the above paragraph be enough to suggest that your own long essay is very flawed, and that I could go on for a while and pick it apart. Though you do put forward good points, and seem good at debating in general.
Nice talk, good sir/madam!

I, for one, find this to be rather intriguing, I don't mind you fellows going on here, however, if it does bother you guys, why not carry on via PM?

Re: Rayman Legends
While I would stop for the sake of other users, that's not even my reason in this scenario.Master wrote:I, for one, find this to be rather intriguing, I don't mind you fellows going on here, however, if it does bother you guys, why not carry on via PM?
It's just that, we both are tired of writing essays in general. I already pointed out how I consider my posts very vague in a lot of ways. And that's intentional, because if I was to discuss things in great detail, it'd take me way too long to write each post, and it would be VERY obnoxious for other users.
The discussion was fun while it lasted, but as I said before, I'm not trying to change opinions (unless I'm trying to prove something as fact, which has been the case at rare times). Just trying to offer a unique perspective.
Unless the topic of a debate is grave and serious (where debating is actually really important), I tend to get bored if it goes on too long, and will essentially "agree to disagree", which is what I am doing now - me not continuing this debate (publicly or via PM) does not mean that I concede to the other side being right, I simply am losing interest in the discussion, and will "agree to disagree".
And I find this argument to be very moot, because as I said, Rayman 2 is nearly as good as Rayman Legends to me. And it's tied with Origins (I'd like Rayman 2 more than Origins if it weren't for the fact that certain sections of Rayman 2 control like crap, such as the pirate ship sailing segment, or the sliding segments).

Re: Rayman Legends
I never felt the sense of danger that Droolie points out so much. Maybe in the moment were Jano chases you? kind of, but that was a terribly annoying section of the game with the cheapest deaths, so I couldn't count it as a "pro" for the game in general. While there was involvement of skills at some extent, the speed and the slow controls of Rayman forced you to die a lot and memorize the pattern. Watching jaws covering the screen was kind of creepy, and weird, but only until you found out that you would die a lot in the most unfair ways. Then the jaws wouldn't matter that much. In fact, now that I think about it... it was terribly distracting.
In fact, I think I had a similar feeling with the dangerous swarms in Rayman Legends, only difference being that this one is not flawed nor full of cheap deaths.
The soundtrack in R2? it was pretty, I liked it, but it didn't cover in any particular way the fact that all of the guardians are silly looking and don't even take too much to be defeated.
Maybe it is the fact that your younger selves remember it in a more threatening way than it really was, but Rayman Legends had some GREAT bosses. Not to mention that the Mechanical Dragon had a short but intriguing intro, and not a single bit of comedy on it. The Medieval Dragon was also pretty badass. The Luchador and the Armored Toad are the only ones that I remember that were full of silly slapstick and "hilariousness"

Re: Rayman Legends
I never got past the Cave of Bad Dreams as a kid, then had my copy break. So far I've only beat Rayman 2 on the crappy 3DS version and I agree with Droolie, so no nostalgia there.
Hm, thinking about, I should really play the PC version. I do have it.

Re: Rayman Legends
Thanks, sergio.
While I don't agree, I'm glad others are joining the debate. I feel like I'm wasting my non-university time by writing these things, but if anyone has time to waste I'd love to see them actually think about the games as adventures and their pros and cons, as I and sonicbrawler did. It's an interesting discussion, I think, one of the more interesting ones we've had on this forum. It's just a pity so little people are participating in it.
Isn't this the perfect place for it though? It's a debate which anyone is free to join, so it belongs on a forum, publicly. And it's about Rayman Legends, so it only makes sense that it's in the Rayman Legends topic.
Note: I was a child the first time I played Rayman 2, so I'm not counting that. I'm counting the first time I played in years, which was after I played Rayman Origins.
I personally think most arguments I used were rather objective, and maybe I'm wrong in some aspects, but at least point them out and let others point out the flaws in your arguments as well.

I'm not going to PM everyone who thinks the same way personally. That would be overkill. ^^Master wrote:I, for one, find this to be rather intriguing, I don't mind you fellows going on here, however, if it does bother you guys, why not carry on via PM?

And you say I misunderstood your posts. I said the levels in Rayman 2 were longer than those in Rayman Legends (mostly because they were more open). Nowhere did I say Rayman 2 itself was longer than Rayman Legends. I did say that they were about the same length, which was the case when I played Rayman 2 and Rayman Legends for the first time. Of course, that was when I played them so I admit this statement wasn't a fact (nor is yours).sonicbrawler182 wrote:But there are some things you are claiming as fact, that most certainly are not. Re: Rayman Legends
Trying to collect all the Lums on Jano's slide, then dieing and having to do it again, and the dieing at Jano and having to start it all over is one of the most frustrating things in Rayman 2. (At least in the PS1 version.) Same goes for Beneath the Sanctuary of Recycled Concepts and having to fly through that god forsaken tunnel.
I never felt that kind of frustration in Legends at all.

Re: Rayman Legends
It doesn't help that Ubisoft keep on putting Rayman 2 on everything under the sun, and most of the later ports have problems.

Re: Rayman Legends
Just beat Rayman Legends today. All I have to do is do the rest of the invasion levels, Living Dead Party, and Back to Origins before I can give my final thoughts. But I will say this, the final boss was EXTERMLY disappointing.

Re: Rayman Legends
So I just found an e-mail in my inbox about a survey on Club Nintendo about Rayman Legends (I registered the game on Club Nintendo when I bought it). I took the survey, and got my 50 stars from it.
I think it's interesting that there was a special survey about the game. I saved a screenshot of every question just in case you guys wanted to see it, even if just to make note of it's existance. I can post the screenshots tomorrow if anyone wants me to (I have to go to bed now so I can't do it now).

Re: Rayman Legends
That's actually normal. Nintendo always makes a secondary survey about every single game that you register, usually, a few days later. There's nothing special about that survey, just the regular questions. Speaking about it, I just received my post-game survey of Mario & Luigi Dream Team. If I complete it, I'll get 10 coins.sonicbrawler182 wrote:So I just found an e-mail in my inbox about a survey on Club Nintendo about Rayman Legends (I registered the game on Club Nintendo when I bought it). Re: Rayman Legends
So I created a new Wii U account just so I could play through Legends again.
