Meh, I don't really mind the Japanese voices.

Depends on how the JP VA is like, but for the most part it's pretty decent, though too much Engrish will make me cringe.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
On a related note they used different Japanese VAs for the voices in Origins than the regular anime. Wonder if they'll do the same for the dub?

Re: General Pokémon Thread
That remains to be seen.
Anyways, watched the first ep, and I'm very impressed, it certainly gets the symbolic nature of Pokemon that the games refer to often, the notion that they are partners.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
Double post, reviews are out for X and Y, see the positivity yourselves: http://bulbanews.bulbagarden.net/wiki/F ... published.
Re: General Pokémon Thread
So I've pre-ordered Pokemon X, but I'm not sure that I'll like it. What's the real difference between X and Y anyway?
I've only played Soul Silver and I didn't finish, after getting lost and not knowing what to do next...
Do you guys think I should keep my pre-order?

Noooo, you should have looked up a walktrough. That game is too beautiful to quit.MrBadGuy wrote:I've only played Soul Silver and I didn't finish, after getting lost and not knowing what to do next...
Re: General Pokémon Thread
I think I got the the olympics or something and there was nowhere else to go... I don't really want to use a walkthrough on a handheld game. Sort of defeats the purpose.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
I get what you mean, I do sometimes get lost when it comes to doing things in Pokemon games, been a while since I've played HeartGold, sometimes you're just taken to an area to know that it exists, and don't have to do anything there, if that's the case, just look around, you'll probably find a story event.
Re: General Pokémon Thread
I'll get White 1 in Xmas (Yeah, I'm really late). If I had already White 1 and Black 2, I would go to FNAC in the release date of X and grab a copy right in day one, but I can't do miracles either.
At least when I get White 1, for the first time I'll get a Fire Starter.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
Ehh, I tend towards Fire, then Water then Grass. In terms of what I picked in each Gen:
Gen I Starters: Bulbasaur (Don't like how Venusaur looks, but Bulbasaur is my favourite)
Gen II Starters: Totodile
Gen III Starters: Torchic (Evolves into Blaziken, man! Mega Blaziken makes things even cooler in X and Y!)
Gen IV Starters: Chimchar (Evolves in Infernape, and the first starter I picked when I starting my trek down Pokemon lane)
Gen V Starters: Tepig in White 1, Oshawott in White 2.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
I actually saw Black 2 for half of the price in my local hypermarket, but I really don't have that much money to buy two games at once right now.
Re: General Pokémon Thread
The Japanese voices are always the best quality wise. I have yet to watch some anime that has bad Japanese voices.Keane wrote:Meh, I don't really mind the Japanese voices.
As for English voices in anime, some dubs are great and are on the same level of quality like Japanese one but some are ridiculously bad. Am I the only one who wishes that Japanese voice actors do English dub of anime in general as well? The way Japanese pronounce English sounds really cool.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
No, I don't mind the odd bit of melodramatic Engrish, but to have the entirety of a show be nothing but that, would personally irk me.
Re: General Pokémon Thread
I guess tastes are different. I like searching on YT Engrish videos and every time I see some video I wish for entire show like that.
Anyways for Pokemon X and Y, I dunno if it has been discussed or not but there wont be full 3D usage of 3DS

Re: General Pokémon Thread
I don't think anyone is bothered about the 3D. The link I posted earlier to the reviews reveal some very, very cool features that are probably of greater interest, as they involve gameplay mechanics instead of a visual gimmick.
Ninty, why must you make me suffer...

I tend go for the reptilian or amphibious startersMaster wrote:Ehh, I tend towards Fire, then Water then Grass. In terms of what I picked in each Gen:

Gen I - Charmander
Gen II- Totodile
Gen III- Treeko (Mudkip for Emerald)
Gen IV- Turtwig
Gen V- Snivy
For X I'm going with Froakie of course. Out of curiosity anyone here getting Y? I'm finding that everyone I speak to is siding with X haha.

Re: General Pokémon Thread
If I could, I'd go for Y, I prefer Yveltal.

I'm going with Y, I really dig the design of the legendary bird thing.Bzzit wrote:I tend go for the reptilian or amphibious starters

Re: General Pokémon Thread
Ahh cool, I actually prefer that too however, I really like the Mega evolution's of both Charizard and Mewtwo in X, more-so than the ones in Y. I'll also be using Charizard in my party and I tend to not use legendary Pokemon too often.
