Re: Official Nintendo Topic
It isn't just the GameCube factor, I dislike the scaled emulation of the Wii U in Wii games. It is just like 3DS/DSs case. Since I own an original DS and a DS Lite, I don't see why I would use the 3DS to play the DS titles.
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I play DS games on 3DS because of analog controlls.
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Shame I'm going to miss out on these games for awhile.
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Could we finally have a proper custom firmware for 3DS?
Could this finally mean I can both be online on 3DS and play games from all regions?

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Hm, interesting, let's see if the 3DS hacking community is about to pull something big.
Though I'm curious, how will they circumvent the update thing?

New video. I do however wish they did not dub his voice on English and instead make him speak Engrish or just subtitle the video on English while he is speaking Japanese. Well they do use subtitles later in video but thats not what I meant.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Indeed, I'm really liking the look of this game, I'll probably have to wait until Xmas for it though.
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I hope to raise enough money for a Wii U by then. 3D World is my top game to get with it.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Hm, looks decent, but I still prefer the 64 formula for 3D titles instead of this 2D-3D fusion.
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I never really liked 64 formula to be honest. I always found Super Mario 64 overrated. I was never a fan of 3D Mario games that much in past because it was not the flagpole formula.
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I actually liked a lot Super Mario 64, especially the DS remake. I didn't like a lot Super Mario Sunshine though, despite of having interesting things.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
I don't like how 3D land levels feel compared to those which follow the n64 formula, such as Sunshine and Galaxy, I don't know why it resonates with me, but that's how I feel.
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Yeah 3D Land has more of a New Super Mario Bros feel then an actual big title game.
I much prefer the exploration gameplay. Galaxy's balance of linear levels and plenty exploration was a fantastic combination, but I still consider Sunshine my favourite Mario game. It's definitely one of the most unique titles in the franchise and had a very appealing world. Places like Delfino Island are memorable (Princess Peach's castle is cool but really? It's just a bunch of hallways that act as a world map) and overall the game just felt much more alive then previous titles. There was an established environment with things happening to it. The only downside really is that there's too many missions that kinda repeat old concepts. I feel that it got a lot of unnecessary hate just because it didn't look or act like a typical Mario game, which is a good thing. Something that bothers me about Nintendo today is that their trying to stay incredibly save. I hope 3D World, despite looking great, is not going to be the primary 3D Mario title for this console.
I mean if you look at the GameCube era you notice how much they were trying to experiment with new things. Maybe they were not perfectly solid games but if they had continued to be more daring with changing things up I think that today the games would be rather different. The fact that they did something like Luigi's Mansion 2 is shocking. And also it was fucking amazing and a really fresh breath of air from the company. I would much prefer seeing them do something like that with Wario then put out another Warioware.
But there's also the fans who can't handle the slightest change. Kirby's Epic Yarn was a great game that really has no flaws at all but it was simply not appreciated because it wasn't usual Kirby. Super Paper Mario took the most creative approach at 2D Platforming in years & still had the charm of previous titles but it was not appreciated because it wasn't exactly like those previous titles. Hell even Metroid Other M isn't all that bad but it's not Metroid Prime 4 so fuck you Nintendo. Please give us more clones of your games and then we'll go and rant on about how they never change.

Re: Official Nintendo Topic
To be fair, Other M was mainly criticised for it's questionable plot. I believe people were also bothered by it being pretty linear.
And Super Paper Mario (a game I love) was criticised because it got very tedious at times and because although it tried to mix a Mario platformer with an RPG, the platforming controls were not as precise as they could of been. It was also criticised for only letting you equip one fairy at a time, making certain puzzles a lot slower than they should of been. It was also thought that having a time limit that damaged you while in 3D was pointless, especially since you can unlock infinite 3D.
As far as actual reviews go, those were the main criticisms of those games, and they are completely valid.

Oh Other M is certainly not a perfect game but there's too much "WHAT IS THIS WHY ISN'T THIS PRIME 4!!!" hatesonicbrawler182 wrote:To be fair, Other M was mainly criticised for it's questionable plot. I believe people were also bothered by it being pretty linear.
Uhh what. I don't see how they are not. And if you don't like a certain speed or jump then there's four characters to choose from. Sounds more like a nitpick.sonicbrawler182 wrote:And Super Paper Mario (a game I love) was criticised because it got very tedious at times and because although it tried to mix a Mario platformer with an RPG, the platforming controls were not as precise as they could of been.
Half the time the game focuses on the one you most recently received. And even then it takes like five seconds to change from one to the other. There's not really any way to possibly have had out more then one at a time anyway.sonicbrawler182 wrote:It was also criticised for only letting you equip one fairy at a time, making certain puzzles a lot slower than they should of been.
Yeah that was pretty dumb.sonicbrawler182 wrote:It was also thought that having a time limit that damaged you while in 3D was pointless, especially since you can unlock infinite 3D.
I'm talking more about the community though. If there is anything people often criticise Nintendo it's that they never change yet if there's any sign of them trying something new people immediately become overly hostile and as result Kirby is now back to New Super Mario Bros level when it comes to creativity.
Re: Official Nintendo Topic
Look at all these Nintendo games I haven't played.
