Re: Say a new Rayman cartoon is being made.
At this point I would rather see this animated series fan made. As If a Rayman Animated series would pretty much focus around Origins/Legends at this point. Considering how the characters act in those game and look brainless, it would been one of the worst things.
But yeah I would love a Rayman 2 animated series, would been quite neat and enjoyable.

Re: Say a new Rayman cartoon is being made.
I agree that if a Rayman 2 adaptation was to be made, an anime-esque style of storytelling would be okay. It shouldn't focus on the fighting though (so not a generic shonen anime, although a Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood style shonen anime would work I guess, in the sense that it doesn't focus on the fighting all that much), and they'd have to expand the plot a lot, make it a lot more complex and less game-y while showing more of Rayman's world. A good way to do that would be to make Rayman and his friends seem like more of a "traveling resistance group", by showing, for example, the story elements from the manual and Report N° 20Z in great detail. (Those have been amazing inspirations for my own game's story which is almost incomparably longer and more complicated than Rayman 2.)
As for character designs, I doubt any good animation company would want to change them in a considerable way. But even if they did, there's a high probability that they would fit a story-based Rayman better than the new Rayman Origins/Legends designs. You know my opinion on those by now - any Origins/Legends influence at all would just ruin it for me.

Of course it's all dreaming. In reality the only thing that could come out of a Rayman cartoon series is likely an overly silly show that I could see growing tiring very quickly.spiraldoor wrote:Dream all you want about a Rayman 1 or Rayman 2 adaptation, but the reality is that any kind of Rayman animated series would channel the imagery and tone of Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends as closely as possible. The idea of the Origins/Legends world without gameplay doesn't hold much appeal for me.

If it does have to silly, then I'd like it to be something like Wander Over Yonder.

Re: Say a new Rayman cartoon is being made.
My idea for a Rayman animated series adaptation is set within the Origins/Legends world. I've been fleshing a plot out in my mind.
The first season is fairly comedy based, and would be about how Rayman and Globox meet. They also meet the Grand Minimus and the Goth Teensy, and it's basically about them becoming real heroes. The Magician would be the main villain, and would be very like Dr.Eggman or Dr. Wily in terms of his personality. The scrapped back story for the Magician from Origins would be expanded upon here. It would end with that 100 year nap from Origins in some way. Maybe not in the same way as it happens in Origins. Ssssam and Clark would also be introduced in this season.
The second season would be loosely based off of Legends. It would have the same worlds, and Barbara and the other princesses would be in it (but only Barbara and Elysia are main characters, the rest of the princesses are side characters). The plot of the second season would kick off from the 100 year nap, and the world is infested with nightmares. As well as that, the nightmare creatures have destroyed many landmarks in the world, and have wasted lots of natural resources. The whole season is about the heroes (and just the citizens of the world in general) trying to rebuild the land into something they can happily live in. Various Rayman 3 villains would also make an appearance in this season, and one or two areas from that game could easily be put in as part of the worlds from Legends. Ly would be introduced in this season. The season as a whole will be deeper and more serious, but still retain some comedy and charm.
The third season is an adaptation of the Rayman 2 plot. At the end of the second season, the Robot Pirates invade, and destroy the land that everyone worked so hard to build, and enslaves them. Of course, Rayman gets captured too, but Globox rescues him. The whole season would depict a war of sorts, but with all of the cartoon charm Rayman is known for. It'd still be the most serious season...and a character or two might die, or at least come extremely close.

Who do guys want to voice the characters?
Firstly, I want David Gasman to return as Rayman.
Apart of me also wants Tom Kenny to voice The Magician.

I like Brawler's idea for a show. It's nicely planned out.
I can only imagine Mr. Dark as Lord Hater and the Magician as Commander Peepers. It's a hilarious thought.SegaNintendoUbisoft wrote:If it does have to silly, then I'd like it to be something like Wander Over Yonder.

Since you said that, I think the Magician could be a good sidekick for Mr. Dark.SegaNintendoUbisoft wrote:If it does have to silly, then I'd like it to be something like Wander Over Yonder

Excuse me while I draw that.

Hm, I was thinking more of a SatAM routine, where the Pirates had taken over, Razor could be Robotnik, and Spyglass Snively.
Re: Say a new Rayman cartoon is being made.
That'd be another interesting concept, Master.

Does no one realise how awful of a voice actor David Gasman is? He can just borderline manage to pass off as a video game character with extremely unimportant dialogue, but to hold up an entire TV series? No.SegaNintendoUbisoft wrote:Who do guys want to voice the characters?

I like his Rayman voice, as well as that one character from Code Lyoko. I don't know about his other roles, I know he was in Heavy Rain though.Adsolution wrote:Does no one realise how awful of a voice actor David Gasman is?SegaNintendoUbisoft wrote:Who do guys want to voice the characters?

If there's anyone else who could have a good voice for Rayman, I would really like to know.

Re: Say a new Rayman cartoon is being made.
Is Gasman's performance really a problem considering what a bland character Rayman has always been?
If they actually decide to give him a personality at some point, Billy West seems like the clear favourite. His performance in the animated series was hampered by terrible writing and direction.

Re: Say a new Rayman cartoon is being made.
If you have something really quite charming to compare it to such as the voice actor who did Rayman's gibberish, then yeah, Gasman's performance does make me cringe with every syllable he utters. I usually expect even mediocre voice acting to at least blend in or be very unmemorable, but to me, Gasman's terribleness is so jarring that I can't get his uniquely terrible whails of not-acting out of my head.spiraldoor wrote:Is Gasman's performance really a problem considering what a bland character Rayman has always been?
He could more than definitely do the character justice indeed, and I feel he'd be able to capture the warm, bright and youthful charm of the gibberish. Obviously not imitating it though, as that would sound ridiculous in English.spiraldoor wrote:If they actually decide to give him a personality at some point, Billy West seems like the clear favourite. I'd be interested in hearing his Origins/Legends voice actor, or someone who does something similar. I dunno, he always reminded me of the gibberish actor, and I've always liked that voice.

Listening back to some cutscenes, you do have a point Absolution. His acting is bad, but I do like the voice. I think it's one of those cases were the voice is good, but the acting is not. If someone can pull that voice and be a decent actor, I'll be all for that guy.

You mean the actor of unknown name and sex who has exactly zero lines? Not one of my favourite performances really.sonicbrawler182 wrote:I'd be interested in hearing his Origins/Legends voice actor,

I say this literally because I simply enjoy the voice. As in, when I imagine what Rayman should sound like, I think of that kind of overall voice. It just fits perfectly with his appearance.spiraldoor wrote:You mean the actor of unknown name and sex who has exactly zero lines? That's why I'd be interested in hearing it WITH dialogue, smart arse.
