I haven't finished Rayman 1 either, and it's pretty much my absolute favourite Rayman Game. In fact, the only Rayman game i recall ever finishing was Raving Rabbids 2 for the Nintendo DS, which I borrowed from a friend. I have very little memory of it, though. Then again, I've only ever played Rayman 3 GBA, Rayman Advance, RRR2 DS and Rayman 1 PC.

I do playthroughs with one of my best friends and we decided to try Rayman 1, and we didn't even get past band land!
When you have 3 or less continiues, on game over screen, after confirming that you want to continiue, press: up, down, right, left and you will get 10 extra continiues. You can do this trick every time you have less than 3 continiues.

That was unexpected.

Which part of that was unexpected? :)

That you did not beat Rayman 1. I had an impression that you are one of the best players for that game.

Ah yes, the continues cheat, perfect for those whose skill doesn't permit them as easy a play through, and lack the patience to grind lives.

Oh yes definitely, a bunch of people would like to cheat just to finish a game but it doesn't have the same feel to the game and the fun and the difficulty as it has for not cheating. For me, the only time I used cheats was AFTER I finished the game and just fool around and just revisit the worlds while using those cheats.

Hm, personally, from experience, I can understand why some would resort to it, like I said, the game can be very punishing to those who lack skill, and grinding lives to compensate for it is a tedious experience, so having such a cheat could help them actually progress instead of ragequitting.

I could pass rayman 1....kinda...
If you can't get passed band land, you're not going to like picture city :L
I had to get a WALKTHROUGH on how to get passed 1 area with the heli-hair section.

Don't even get me started on the end part at eat at joes, those fish can seriously fuck themselves. :pascontent:
EDIT:
Now I only cheated to get to candy chateau, mainly because I really wanted to play that stage! Being chased by bad rayman sounded fun and challenging, and see what I could do at the part :P
I didn't cheat because I couldn't be asked to get all the cages, then again, I'm not your best completionist out there, as I've only completed 1 game 100%, I know, Shame on me

So, who here actually has absolutely no trouble whatsoever with Rayman 1 and can get through each level without a scratch?

I could if I want to. Should I do this for the next Sega Saturn playthrough?

EDIT: So I have tested myself and I beated the Dream Forest without taking any damage. I think I should do a remasterasation playthrough without taking a damage on the PC version just to braggart (yes I can!) :P

Eh, Dream Forest is the easiest place to avoid damage. Fake modesty apart, I can pass Picture City without damage.

Heh. the hardest places to avoid any damage in the game is interestingly the last levels of the music world for me. Do you also got problems avoiding damage there Haruka?

There are virtually no enemies in those two levels, how do you find yourself getting damaged?
