Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Perhaps you can add a Bloom control option in the final game?Adsolution wrote:Thanks everyone! And perhaps the bloom is a bit too much at the moment, I'll lower it a bit.
Heh. I have a similar concept except with Polokus and the Great Protoon being interconnected.Adsolution wrote:The Protoon is like the 'battery' that powers the Heart of the World. They are separate, and in separate locations, but their powers are interconnected. The reason they're separate is because with the Protoon being stored in a remote, largely unknown location (the Valley, which is an island off the shore of the Glade itself) instead of being kept right where the Heart is, the Heart is completely safe from any kind of direct sabotage. Why this apparently is not the case in Rayman 2 is also explained.
Nice. It's like Super Meatboy's Ultra Hardcore mode then? I approve of the idea.Adsolution wrote:I can however confirm that there will be another mode you can choose to play through levels on after you've collected all the tings in that level. Essentially, in order to 100% the game, You'll end up having to go through each level at least two or three times; twice due to the secondary mode, and often three times due to some collectibles not being accessible until you have certain powers and whatnot.
And now you know why I hate spoilers! Although I must say that a story spoiler and a 'watch-the-entire-game' spoiler are different things. With games, I'd usually play it anyway. With books, films and series, I purposefully forget about them for a while before watching them after learning about a massive spoiler to attempt to forget the spoiler itself. It usually works too.emshomar wrote:My brother for example wanted to get GTA V but after watching a complete Let's Play about it, he doesn't feel like getting it anymore because he knows everything about the game already and it just doesn't make fun anymore to play it.
Gaholy bejeesus! That was fantastic!Adsol wrote:Sure, if you can match the quality of our artist's designs:

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
I'm generally going to avoid too much of that, since bloom is an artistic decision in addition to being one for graphical fidelity. I'll make sure to get a very nice, non-intrusive amount going though.Shrooblord wrote:Perhaps you can add a Bloom control option in the final game?
Perhaps, though it's actually not a stark difficulty thing.Shrooblord wrote:It's like Super Meatboy's Ultra Hardcore mode then? I approve of the idea.
Well, given that I've barely posted any, here's some of Rayman's new footstep sound effects!Shrooblord wrote:Can't wait to read about some more progress!
I recorded landing, hard-landing, running, walking and strafing sound effects for wood, grass, rock and grain materials. While only the running and landing sound effects with wood, grass and rock are shown here, the others are done but aren't implemented yet. There are roughly 10-20 variations of each sound effect, which is well above the regular 3-5 for most games, to give that extra bit of variety.
green = grass
grey = rock
orange = wood
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
That's some really nice footstep sounds!

Ah, footstep sounds, a seemingly minor detail, but one that can add a lot more to the immersion.
Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Really nice! I especially like the footstep sounds, like it was mentioned before.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
The grass and wood footsteps were fantastic, but I noticed that his footsteps on rock sound a little like he's running on marble more than rock, though that could just be due to the higher volume levels.
Not trying to be a prick; just trying to help.

Sure thing!
Also, hey, where did Zepto's artwork post go? I was about to comment on it.

The way they glow, one with a glorious golden light, the other, with a twisted red...ahh, Zepto, you are awesome.
The lightning in the background also is a nice touch, and the expressions on their faces, determination and resilience on Rayman, and a slight savagery yet refined stance on Dark Ray, marvellous indeed.

By five years, you mean 2014, or 2018?Adsolution wrote:Maybe in five years or so. Extraordinarily rough guess.

2014 is two months away, not five years lol wtfFouadtjuhmaster wrote:By five years, you mean 2014, or 2018?Adsolution wrote:Maybe in five years or so. Extraordinarily rough guess.

He meant five years between 2009 ( since it started ) and 2014 wtfRulez wrote:2014 is two months away, not five years lol wtfFouadtjuhmaster wrote:By five years, you mean 2014, or 2018?Adsolution wrote:Maybe in five years or so. Extraordinarily rough guess.
But of course he meant 2018, it won't be done by next year.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
Zepto, that's absolutely amazing!
I'll make it the banner for the fanart section on the website.
By five years, I mean anywhere between I'm not sure to unpredictable. An extremely rough guess would be 4-6 years from now, but I have no idea.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
I hope you will get some more contributors, like how Ubisoft got while progressing with their game development, and so i hope this time will reduce.Adsolution wrote:Zepto, that's absolutely amazing!I'll make it the banner for the fanart section on the website.

I will wait for this game no matter how much time it is needed because I believe in this project and one day I know it will see the light of day.Adsolution wrote:Zepto, that's absolutely amazing!I'll make it the banner for the fanart section on the website.

Re: Rayman: Revenge of the Dark
And when it does, you will hear the happy rayman fans all over the world shedding tears at this amazing game. You will see rayman fans becoming friends with crysis fans, and you'll see them at war later because of an argument about Rayman's limbs.OldClassicGamer wrote:I will wait for this game no matter how much time it is needed because I believe in this project and one day I know it will see the light of day.Adsolution wrote:Zepto, that's absolutely amazing!I'll make it the banner for the fanart section on the website.
