I haven't read a book in probably a year. I'd like to give The Last Dragon Chronicles another go. I remember them being really quite decent books but my English wasn't advanced enough to really understand what was going on 100% of the time.

I honestly had much better reading habits when I was 11 (which might explain why I was kinda looked in the side by my classmates at the time since I was using unusual vocabullary) but I gradually lost this sadly. I admit I can't read a book fluently since it starts to trigger headaches after a good while trying to interiorize well what I'm reading.

Hm, I was much more of an avid reader in my younger years, but as it stands, I don't really read much these days.

I just finished reading Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. It's anything a hardcore gamer could hope for, and its like Willy Wonka meets the Matrix meets everything we've ever felt nostalgic about from the 1980s. If anyone here has read Killobyte by Piers Anthony, it's a bit like that.

MEGA BUMP

Well now, why waste a perfectly good thread right? Besides, better have it out here in the open than collecting dust in the closet.

Anyway, what books have y'all been reading? I'm on the last book of the "Chaos Walking" trilogy. The gist of it is that there is this planet humans are inhabiting, where everyone can hear each others' thoughts in a constant flow of information. It's exceptional and I highly recommend to everyone, so I will speak no more of it for fear of spoiling it. The first book in that trilogy is "The Knife of Never Letting Go".

I'm on also waiting eagerly for the last of the Skulduggery Pleasant books (feels incoming), and a new Lorien Legacies book.

Well if we're gonna bump this thread I may as well say that I've been reading the novel to a rather quirky (but really good) Korean animated movie called Leafie a Hen into the Wild (book's called the Hen who Dreamed she could Fly in Britain), otherwise known only as the "shounen ducks" movie.

That does sound like rather strange of a book, but seems cool ^^

The last book I read was a few months ago, and it was from Manfredo Massironi: Watch Through Drawing (I believe this is the translation to English, I'm not sure if there was an adaptation to the title).

Just finished 'Monsters of Men' the other day, the last book in the 'Chaos Walking' trilogy. I can honestly say it is the best series I've ever read and would recommend it to all of you to at least try. It is a very good series indeed.

Bumping time.

I'm not much of a book reader. I only read books when the power is out for an extended amount of time. Last year when the power was out for a week I read the old Diary of a Wimpy Kid books to kill time. I have had those first 5 books for years now.

The last book I read was The God Delusion, which was almost two years ago now. I'll probably be audiobooking The Disaster Artist soon (I know, meme).

I used to read a fair amount until I turned 16 (hey cool I was 15 when I last posted in this thread), like everyone else here.

The last book I was reading was Hercule Poirots Christmas which I started after watching Murder on the Orient Express. I was enjoying it but I sort of just got distracted and forgot about it, which seems to happen an awful lot not just with books but videogames too. I might get into listening to audiobooks, they sound a lot more suited to my lack of concentration :oops2:

I was lucky enough to be able to read until the age of 20, rather than 16, but yeah. Same old story.

When I was an elementary school student I LOVED to read. LOVED. Couldn't spend every waking moment without a book. I didn't have a specific genre back then my series ranged from Harry Potter to Artemis Fowl to Junie B. Jones (yes I read that series too). Now these days my current thing is to read cookbooks. I dunno why, but i find them fascinating and it gives me the inspiration to wonder be able to cook amazing food from home instead of always going out to eat something! Aside from cookbooks, I also read programming langage manuals, since I like learning new languages and it makes me look better as a programmer when I'm out looking for a job. Even though I don't read nearly as much as I used to, there will always be a part of me that has time for reading despite all the time I use for mu computer/phone/gaming these days.

What book are you reading/audiobook are you listening to now?

Post by raymanHUN »

As the title suggests, since we have a music and a game thread (and I think also a movies thread as well), I thought it could be nice to have one for books. Yes, I'm a very big fan of books, always was, always will be Basically, just write down the title of the book, or a short a description, or if you are enjoying it or not really.

To be honest I'm not really reading anything lately, as I'm too tired in the evenings - the time when I used to read - so instead I started listening to audiobooks. I've already finished Kizumonogatari and the first book of Bakemonogatari - stellar voice acting! Seriously, even if the story wasn't anything I'm interested in, I would still listen to it just for the VAs.

Right now I'm listening to "Turtles All The Way Down" by John Green (author of Papertowns, what I've yet to read, but is one of, if not my favourite movie of all time). And while this one is more of a traditional audiobook, as it doesn't have multiple VAs, only one person reading the whole thing, it's super good. I really love it. The story, the characters, how I can relate to Aza and - some of - her daily struggles! To think that just a few years ago I would've said this book (or anything by Green) was boring, as it doesn't have high-fantasy or sci-fi stuff... Times sure change. Well anyways, I'll have to make sure to pick up an English, a Hungarian and preferably also a German version - English to read what I'm listening to, Hungarian to see how good the translation is, and German, to practice my reading ability in it. I hope, by next summer I'll be able to read it in Swedish as well, but for now that's just a dream.
