Exactly. We would like to see a new 3D Rayman game with the same principles of R2 and R3, but honestly I start to think we are asking too much. The Rayman 2 era will most likely, and sadly, never return again.Keane wrote:Yeah but that's not gonna happen and that's the point I'm making. Re: Rayman Legends
Hm, the RO era brought about new ideas after a long period of silence, given changing trends and the like, it's always possible for the series to continue to evolve away into other directions.

Re: Rayman Legends
It's happening again...

On the upside we've broken the diamond mark on the weekly, again.

Re: Rayman Legends
The Ubi servers seem to fuck up again, when i check the leaderboards I am the only one who appears there, even though my brother also made a record there. And for him only himself is shown, while i am not. Plus, there are no cup requirements shown in the challenge menu, which is really odd.

Eesh, what on earth is going on there at Ubi HQ?
Did the other one pass by as usual, regardless of its weird timer?

Oh man back on Wednesday the 1/1 rank thing happened with me as well.

I think it's for the better. More room for innovation, I say.Haruka wrote:Exactly. For better or worse, it does not matter since thats how things are now and it is better than nothing in my opinion.
As for Ubi Servers, they are worse and worse every day.

Re: Rayman Legends
Rayman 4 wouldn't have been a Rayman 2 like game. The return on Andre, evil bunnies from outer space... yeah. Probably very similar to Rayman 3. But Rayman 3 with the world from the cancelled prototype, new combat and a better story sounds fantastic to me.Haruka wrote:Exactly. While RO/RL's world is unique the tone of it doesn't really pull me in. The concept of silly characters in a wacky world isn't anything new and I'm bored of it. Silly characters need personality. The Rabbids are so cringworthy because their just a bunch of animals from which each one just does random goofy stuff and that's supposed to be their personality. Silly and funny figures still need, for me, emotions and certain things they value. Instead of Rayman getting angry, sad, happy, or showing why he cares for his friends and the Glade, he now just has a big ass smile on his face and beats up every living thing until he gets to his goal. The new Rayman is not that much different from Rabbids. It's fun at first but if you try to make a whole series out of it it's just gonna start repeating itself and not innovate one bit.Brad wrote:I think it's for the better. Well I meant having a new 3D game but with new mechanics and gameplay instead of re-using R2's.Keane wrote:While RO/RL's world is unique the tone of it doesn't really pull me in. Re: Rayman Legends
Oh no, Rayman 2's gameplay is not my favourite. Combat is R2's weak spot and shooting energy orbs doesn't feel as nice as punching in R3. I'd much rather see Rayman 3 like gameplay with some slight modifications and new mechanics.
Re: Rayman Legends
Ah, okay. I'd like to see R3's combat return with a few tweaks or possibly updated. It'd be interesting.

Re: Rayman Legends
I must be in the minority that thinks the 2D games are a lot better than the 3D ones. Honestly until I came on here I hardly even considered the story an important part of Rayman.
Also, the Ubi servers are at an all time low. I scored 400M in the distance challenge and got diamond tier.

Re: Rayman Legends
Story isn't a fantastic in Rayman (Bad guys take over the world), but it's how the story is executed. Like I said in my previous post, in R2 Rayman shows different emotions and shows why he feels that way. It sets a mood and gives you a reason to care for saving the characters and the world. A game called Opposing Force is one that doesn't have a ton of story but what is part of the story is that in this game you play as the bad guys from another game. When you start out you dislike them because the other game made them appear bad but as time passes you start to like them and eventually even care for them to the point where, when everyone gets blown up besides the main character, the story made you feel really bad that the enemy would die.
And seriously, the ending cutscene from Rayman 2. No matter how many times I play it that always gets me. It's so brilliant.

Re: Rayman Legends
The ending cutscene of R2 is one of the most remarkable moments I had in gaming. I miss these kind of moments in Rayman's games, really.
Re: Rayman Legends
The ending actually made me cry the really first time i saw it. It was a long time back, i was around 6 i think. I miss these kind of moments too.

Re: Rayman Legends
I must be the only one who thinks Rayman 2 is really flawed in terms of character presentation.
I hardly get emotional over Rayman 2's cutscenes because the huge problem with the game is that it feels like the middle of some kind of saga. But because of that, the parts they try to make emotional and poignant (Ssssam's teary goodbye, Rayman's friendship with Clark, the bond between Rayman and Ly, and even Globox to an extent), have no build up. There's no real character development. It's just like "oh hey, have a sad scene", but the dialogue is so flat most of the time, and I feel no connection to these characters because the game never gives me one. I even feel the ending somewhat suffers because of this.
This is why in the Rayman cartoon topic, I say I think a cartoon based solely off of Rayman 2 is a bad idea. Origins and Legends could be adapted to include dialogue and more sincerity, as well as include characters from Rayman 2, build the necessary character relationships, and THEN transition into Rayman 2's plot (with characters like Barbara and the Magician included too).

They're supposed to be charming and serene, not deeply emotional, unless we're referring to some kind of deep emotion as the inspirational basis for creating good art.sonicbrawler182 wrote:I hardly get emotional over Rayman 2's cutscenes

I do wish Clark and Sssam had bigger roles in the game I mean I love Sssam, I payed 1000 tings to get him on my signature, but he just kinda pops up, helps you out annnd that's it. He's not even in the ending scene with everyone else. He could have easily made a return in Rayman 3 at least. Though Rayman 3 strangely leaving out the whole cast is another discussion.

If I recall correctly, Sssam was in the GBA version of Rayman 3. The one I played, anyway.Keane wrote:That ^

My favourite characters had even smaller roles than Sssam and Clark...
