Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
The Future games definitely had vastly more complex plots, which I appreciate, but when I replay a Ratchet and Clank it's more than likely an older one that I'm going to be playing.

Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
Hm, I'd be a bit torn personally, CiT remains my absolute favourite in the series, and I certainly replayed the heck out of that. That being said, I've not been able to play the classics for some time.
I think I ought to put up a poll for favourite R&C game, actually, gimme a moment.

Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
Voted. Out of the entire series, Going Commando and A Crack in Time are my two favorites.
Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
Both Ratchet and Clank 3 and ACIT are equally my favorites. Ratchet and Clank 3 is definitely the funniest in the series, so many great moments and I loved the whole Galactic rangers and Q force plot, it was fantastic. ACIT has the best story in the series and had some really emotional and funny moments. I really cant decide which to pick
Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
Haha! Tough choice, but I'm gonna go with ACIT because I just remembered how beautiful pirate radio was <3 Also, I loved hunting down all the Zoni on the moons, really brought back that classic Spyro vibe of collecting the eggs and orbs.
Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
Bump. So the reviews are in for Nexus and overall they are mostly positive with some mixed here and there. A definite improvement over All 4 One and Q force which is great to hear.

Wait, the game's released? Looking it up now, then.
Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
In the US it released today and in Australia a few days ago I believe. We still have to wait until Friday unfortunatley. Fancy a game on Ratchet Gladiator before I do my coursework?

Ah nuts, I don't go on weekdays, only weekends, and this isn't turning out to be a good 'un for me, at this rate, we'll have to wait 'til the Xmas hols.
Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
No problem, I'm sure we will get a chance to play sometime soon! Well I just started playing Nexus, and can safely say its pretty much a return to form for the series. The story is excellent so far and Thugs 4 less are even better and funnier than they were in Ratchet and Clank 2. I really like the Clank sections too, a lot different from previous outings, but they're a ton of fun to play through. I'll give my full thoughts once I've played through the whole game!

Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
Okedoke! I don't own it, but I watched the cutscenes for it,[I can't believe they killed Cronk and Zephyr!]
Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
Just finished Nexus after playing it non stop last night and this morning. Really enjoyed it overall with a a couple of little gripes here and there. The narrative was great and the new villains were among the best of the series; I really enjoyed their back-story and relationship. There were a few new mechanics such as the Jetpack which was just plain awesome and extremely fun to use. In terms of weapons I thought many of the new weapons were fantastic and upgrades to previous weapons such s Mr Zurkon were just genious. The arena in this game was also extremely fun and offered some inventive challenges which often felt a tad easy (I should have started the game on hard mode in all honesty) I was also shocked at that certain cutscene that you pointed out, it was pretty dark and unexpected! All I can say on the matter is to stay around for a after the credits.
My main problem though of course was Ratchet and Qwark's design, sometimes a cutscene or pivotal event would be slightly ruined by me pondering over how goofy their proportions were. I also of course wish the game was longer as I enjoyed it so much but alas, it was a nice sized epilogue to the PS3 games and I can safely say the ending pretty much had "yeah there's gonna be a new game for PS4" written all over it! As long as they continue to implement great new mechanics, come up with crazy weapons and bring us great storylines and humor whilst not stepping too far into obscurity ( All 4 one and FFA) I will be more than happy for them to keep making this series through next gen!

Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
I think Ratchet will boost sales of PS4.
Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
I agree, really hope they develop a full length title on the same league as ACIT for PS4 though.

But I yet didn't encounter any Ratchet and Clank game being developed for PS4. I believe there will be such a game and yes I will then buy PS4 because of that.OldClassicGamer wrote:I think Ratchet will boost sales of PS4.

Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
Time will tell, I suppose, in the meantime, I'm glad Insomniac came full circle with Nexus, it's an apt and rather nice tribute to R&C's PS3 era, as it closes the door on one console, and leads onto pastures anew.
From what I've seen, I think it's a bit of a pity it's as short as it was, the villains were nice, but the Nethers never really received the same fleshing out that the likes of the Robot Pirates or the Cragmites got in the trilogy, a pity too, they were a rather intriguing bunch.

Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
Well, Nexus will definitely be last PS3 Ratchet game. In about 1-2 years, Ratchet for PS4 will come. Maybe to promote new movie.emshomar wrote:But I yet didn't encounter any Ratchet and Clank game being developed for PS4. Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
Yeah releasing a game around the debut of the movie in 2015 would be a really smart move. I hope they take their time though and don't just rush out a half baked game for the sake of marketing.

Re: The Ratchet & Clank Thread
Hm, I'd rather not have the next game tie in to the movie, the movie is pretty much a retelling of the first game with aspects of the second and third, I'd rather see Insomniac push forward to new ideas and story than attempting to confuse the R&C Game universe continuity.
