Have you played or heard of Parappa the Rapper?

Post by Gina02 »

Has anyone ever played Parappa the Rapper?
If yes, then how do you like the game?(Give me your honest opinion.) If no, then you should give it a try. ;)

Personally,I haven't played it before, but I have heard it is a great game and I absolutely want to give it a try.

If he doesn't sound familiar to you all, then hear are some details to help you. ;) ( His motto is "I gotta believe", and is a rapping teenage dog with a orange beanie.)
Sound familiar?;)

Ya, it's a really fun and interesting game, especially for its time. Though, honestly, just the way Parappa''s character is designed, I want to punch him in the face. I don't know what it is about him, but he looks like an asshole.

Yeah I love that game and all the songs. I found the 1st stage ridicuously hard as a kid though and I've never beat it but watched all the stages on Youtube. The spiritual successor "Um Jammer Lammy" is also worth checking out too.

I played it when I was a kid, but not much. I have no real memory of my experience with the game.

I like playing as Parappa in PS-All Stars, though. I also like how they got the original voice actors back for his cinematics in PS-All Stars.

Parappa's voice actor has also gone on record saying he'd love to see a Parappa 3, and would do voice work for it in a heartbeat. :)

Parappa is something I've heard of from the beginning of the Playstation but I never played it, at best I've only watched my boyfriend play it on his PSP and he was showing me the rather infamous "baking a cake" level.

Heard of it, and that's about it, I hear he was once a Playstation mascot, evidently, a position that he didn't hold for long.

Many people called Crash and Parappa the PlayStation brothers. They alo appeared in Japanese commercials together.

I always considered Crash and Spyro the PS bros, but Parappa was noteable enough.

I don't know how much was he popular internationally but he also had his own Anime in Japan (makes me wonder why Crash never had one but he did have manga). As for commercials with him and Crash at the same time, I only saw Japanese ones. Dunno if English commercials with them together exist

Probably not, seeing as Parappa didn't seem to catch on here.

At least European version of Parappa 2 for PS2 was not censored like US version was.

You mean "i am the lord, everybody knows my name" being censored to be "i am the man, everybody knows my name"?
Also, I'm a big fan of Parappa the Rapper. I have played the first and second game, along with the psp version of the first game, and I also played PSABR.

Yes, they also censored "tastes better than wine" and replaced it with "so you better get in line."
They also censored "warm the buns" with "toast the buns"

That was all done to avoid Teen ration by ESRB. Thank god Japanese and PAL versions are not censored.

Parappa the rapper 2 had some of the best music in videogame history for me.

I played P2 and P1 so fucking much, love the Parappa series.

Something about Parappa's personality I was also skeptical about. He has such a douchey attitude. But god damn, the soundtrack is just what makes me love the games so much.

I always figured being a bit of a douche, albeit with big dreams, was the entire point of his character.

Actually, those 2 are censored in my version and it's PAL...
At least I'm sure of it, I haven't played in a while, though I definitely know warm the buns is censored.
