I figured they would do that.

Also, one of my favorite LP groups, Video Games Awesome, did a playthrough of the first two worlds of the game, they'll more than likely return to it. They live-streamed it yesterday, but they uploaded it on YouTube today.

WARNING: They played Origins, but they know little to nothing about the series, and there are some, shall we say, noobish moments.

I thought you guys would like to know: Wii U's eShop is doing a permanent discount of 50% to Rayman Legends.

It seems they are really trying to increase sales.

Hm, 50% down on Eshop? Here's hoping that in combination with the Xmas rush will give a good boost.
As for the PS4 and One, meh, I'm neutral, the series is renowned for its multiplatformity, as long as they're well done, I have no qualms with it.

Hm, just reading back a little:
Adsolution - April 28th 2012 wrote:It would be nice to hear a new recurring theme present. Considering the amazing How to Train your Dragon music in there that they're using as a placeholder, whatever they're going to come up with will probably sound almost if not as good.
Ah, nope, but at times it came close. The music is definitely enjoyable and once in a while is astoundingly atmospheric (and at other times not at all and rather lame), but it doesn't come anywhere near approaching the integrity and epicness of something like the How to Train your Dragon soundtrack - it demonstrated an amazing concept in the leaked trailer, something it seemed they only partially live up to.

Seriously, just listen to 0:45:

That music got me so, so, so hyped it's indescribable, and only goes to show how much excellent, fitting music does matter in Rayman's world - given how much this game seems to be inspired by that film, it's only natural that it would fit perfectly. Legends' soundtrack is great on its own, but I'd beg to argue that the majority of the time it does not really correlate much with the environment, which is such a fundamental flaw in my opinion.

- Sorry to bring this up again, I just think that there was potential for it to be so, so, so much better, especially in light of this comparison I only just recalled which I would have brought up in the lengthy discussion had on the topic a couple of months ago if I'd remembered back then.

Legends soundtrack has its moments but for the majority of the time is pretty average. In my opinion they'll never be able to surpass the R2 soundtrack (in terms of video game music in Rayman). It was incredibly ambient, had a running theme that was catchy and epic, and it fit all the environments perfectly. I always find myself returning to listen to it and discovering tunes I had forgotten about, kudos to Eric Chevalier... I believe his name is

Meh, I love the Legends soundtrack. I've listened to it on the bus many times. I have no problem with it.

@Adsolution I totally understand you, but I remember being super hyped with Origins after watching the first trailer. And later it came the disappointment. This game deserved to be so much more and better. The same thing applies to Legends even if it was improved.

Hm, soundtrackwise, both Legends and Origins have some pretty good tracks, "Chasing a Dream" being a major favourite it seems. But overall, I dunno, the Origins era soundtracks don't do it for me to the same extent.

That's literally what I just implied: It's good music, and probably one of the most fun 'listening' soundtracks I've heard in a while, but I oftentimes don't find it to fit well at all into what's going on in the game (or it does to an extent, but usually not nearly as well as it could). Even on a purely musical basis, many tracks seem like uninspired rehashes of eachother, and the instrumentation has a tendency to fall back on some very standard and generic, predictable elements. It's great at doing what it does, but it fails in most regards to bring anything new to the ears, which is unfortunate, as Rayman has always been a very unique series in terms of style otherwise.

In the end it comes down to preference, but I find the less-intimate, less-impressionistic, more literal and superficial nature of the newer stuff to not be nearly as attractive, nor as 'artistic'; this covers all artistic aspects of the game.

Rayman 2 and R3 soundtracks are better than Legends to me. But Legends is still good.

I found the soundtrack perfectly suited to it's levels, and they do fill me with appropriate emotions and feel expressive to me, but to each their own.

*Castle

Hm, I've heard Black Betty enough times through gaming alone, Castle Rock is a neat take on it that suits the universe it's being adapted to, but standalone, meh.

I'm totally guilty of this too. Outside of video game music, I'm a musical dunce when it comes to knowing composers, bands, etc.

I actually like Castle Rock more than the original song it's based on. And Legends is far by my 2nd favorite Rayman soundtrack out of all of them. So many catchy tunes.

Rayman Legends is a great game. It has some minor flaws that every Rayman game has, but it still deserves to be in the hall of fame.

It is my third favourite with reason ;)
I wonder how much next game will be improved.
