Official RareWare Topic
Talk about RareWare games, RareWare characters and RareWare company itself.
I loved RareWare games made when they were with Nintendo, but the only game I liked they made when they were with Microsoft is Kameo. Rest was pretty disappointing. Oh and I liked Nintendo DS games they were allowed to make because Microsoft never owned handheld device.

Was just playing Goldeneye on the N64 like a day ago, still one of the funnest first-person shooters ever released on a console. I really oughta get Perfect Dark one of these days.
Re: Official RareWare Topic
Get Perfect Dark on XBLA or N64. Perfect Dark Zero is not worth your time trust me.

Ah, wasn't aware that there was a topic for this, but I'm glad there is. Honestly, Rare is quite possibly my favorite developer. Or they were, at least. Anyways, Donkey Kong Country, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark, and others are all games I frequently find myself going back to.

Am I the only one who liked Viva Pinata?

I liked it as well, it's honestly the only Microsoft era Rare game that I'll pick up and play.Bzzit wrote:Am I the only one who liked Viva pinata?

Don't worry, I like it to. I also like Nuts and Bolts, even though it wasn't a real Banjo game.Bzzit wrote:Am I the only one who liked Viva Pinata?

Re: Official RareWare Topic
I actually like Nuts & Bolts. The art direction and music is awesome, and it still has a lot of character like the originals. The only problem with it for me is that it obviously didn't feel like a true Banjo-Threeie. And the missions got kind of boring and repetitive. Although hunting for notes was still fun. And honestly, the vehicle creator was actually really cool, I had tons of fun experimenting with it, and just doing my own thing. Showdown Town was also a really cool overworld, and quite big too.
Viva Pinata is also pretty cool, though much like, say, Animal Crossing, I find it difficult to play for an extended period of time. It's a nice experience, I'm just not good at sticking to games that like you to come back daily (unless you count Nintendogs and Rayman Legends' Online Challenges!).

I liked characters but I found game a bit boring. TV Show was funny though.Bzzit wrote:Am I the only one who liked Viva Pinata?
What about Kameo?Dark Lum Lord wrote:I liked it as well, it's honestly the only Microsoft era Rare game that I'll pick up and play.
I hated how everyone looked blocky. Story is just lame, and I despised building Cars. Overworld is also uneccesarry huge, but thats because they started making that game as 3D platformer. They changed it to make it "original" but the irony is that Nuts and Bolts is one of the most unoriginal games.sonicbrawler182 wrote:I actually like Nuts & Bolts. Viva Pinata was the first game I got within the previous gen, I was addicted to it for weeks!

Re: Official Rareware/Rare Topic
...I'd be inclined to argue that Nuts & Bolts is the most original Banjo-Kazooie game.
The other two games are masterpieces, and are imaginative, but they are still just 3D N64 platformers. The original two were very like Super Mario 64 (even going as far as using the same engine).
Nuts & Bolts was this unique mish-mash of all kinds of things (because remember, the vehicles that could be built were quite varied, and bizarre, and were not limited to land).
And I personally liked the LittleBigPlanet-esque art style quite a lot. And I loved Kazooie's redesign in particular, she's one sexy breegull now. :V

I recommend it. You can probably find it for cheap since it was 360 launch title.Dark Lum Lord wrote:I never played it.OldClassicGamer wrote: What about Kameo?
One of the most brilliant concepts in 3D Platformer.
@Sonic
Just see Jontron's review since everything I think about Buts and Bolts is said there.

Just looked up Kameo and, to be honest, it looks a bit cheesy. That, and it looks more like a hack 'n' slash action-adventure game, not a platformer.OldClassicGamer wrote:I recommend it. Official Genre of Kameo is said to be:
Action-Adventure / 3D Platformer

Re: Official Rareware/Rare Topic
Blast Corps hasn't been mentioned once!?!
It has the most untapped multiplayer potential of any game ever made (not that microsoft-era rare will make a sequel) And its a varied action puzzle game that has a very good learning curve for all of the vehicles, with Diamond Sands and Oyster Harbor at the end being pretty sadistic.
As a side note Conker's Pocket tales for game boy color, while nothing special, feels a lot more cohesive than later "spyro" style handhelds, including Rayman: hoodlum's revenge.
