That was really cool that they did that.I've been avoiding Doctor Who for a while now but it's come to the point where I need some DW in my life again. Just in time for the anniversary I guess. I sure hope this special isn't a letdown.

Saw it two days ago and it still hasn't really sunk in. I'm over the moon. A lot of my friends watch the show and I'm kind of infamous for my McGann advocacy (it's like a running joke how much I admire the Eighth Doctor) so I've had quite a few people come up to me and congratulate me on this. That's my box for the anniversary ticked anyway. If this was all they were doing to mark the occasion, I wouldn't even complain.

McGann is glorious in this. So many great lines. Moffat seems to be channelling the Big Finish audios, with the more layered Eighth Doctor they've gradually extrapolated from McGann's capabilities – assertive, soothing, poetic, classically romantic and adventurous, somehow both sarcastic and startlingly sincere. No one can play the Doctor like he can. Let's hope the next seventeen years yield more than seven minutes of him. I've heard from people in the know that the BBC executives are quite taken aback by the enthusiasm with which people have responded to McGann. Fingers crossed he finally gets something substantial – how about a live-action series based on the Big Finish stories, with Moffat and Nick Briggs running the show?

Indeed, though my own experiences with McGann have been severely limited, I was partly shocked and mostly elated to see him in such capacity, his Doctor here is so well written and done, funny how 7 minutes of a gloriously written 8th Doctor can be so electrifying. I love how he acts here, I've only seen him in the movie, but this felt like the same Doctor, just one who's lived more and grown as someone with his persona does. I do hope that this does convince more BBC stuff with the guy, as this was so well done, and I tip my hat off to Moffat for making such a thing possible.

I did, we were discussing it in my Further Maths class today, hm, who knows, maybe it'll attain some extra interest in the series, this thread does get a little bare at times.

Tonight, I've watch The Day of the Doctor on France 4 (a French channel). And I had a very good time.

I've appreciated the plot with the battle on Gallifrey and the weapon used to destroy it.

And I loved the scenes with the three Doctors. Those guys were serious (especially John Hurt. I liked his performance) and hilarious (especially when they speak about physical particularities, like Smith's chin and bow or Tennant's shoes. The meeting between Tennant and Smith was awesome. And the scene in the forest with Tennant and Elizabeth was priceless :D)

I'm not a complete fan of Doctor Who. I just watch some (or rather a lot of) episodes with David Tennant and Matt Smith.

But The Day of the Doctor makes me want to see more episodes of that series.

I've see DVDs in a store some days ago. I think I will buy them one day soon... :)

the timey-wimey refrence had me laughing pretty hard, but 1 question remains, didn't that chancellor dude go insane and send the master to earth so the 2 planets would converge? by this i mean wouldn't said character STAY an antagonist, and does this mean a return of the master!?!

That wasn't the same person you're thinking of; this man was some war leader I believe, while the man who sent back the Master (Timothy Dalton) was the Time Lord President Rasillon.

Well, what an amazingly epic episode that was. I'm going to rewatch it tomorrow with my roommate and my dad in my old home - both haven't had a chance to see it and I'm more than happy to see it twice, nay, thrice. :D

Ah, the after thoughts begin to flow, I think I'll watch through it again also, because I definitely found it to be amazing.
Hm, so now we've seen all 13 incarnations of the Doctor, wasn't expecting to glimpse the 12th Doctor.

Those are roundels, I believe, nice of them to incorporate those into Hurt's TARDIS, they were a staple of many of the classic TARDIS interiors.
Speaking of classic Doctor Who: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01m3kfy
It's hilarious to say the least.

As for the Master, yeah, I'd like to see him come back, but for now, we've got a major ensemble awaiting us in the Xmas special, which is only 30 days away! This is the final countdown for Doctor Who this year.

I wasn't really that much a fan of the episode because they pretty much did exactly what I feared they'd do. Well except for the super big thing at the end and that just really made me face palm. The whole Time war thing was such a great mysterious part of the show and now it's just wiped clean just like that. The intensity of the previous season's cliffhanger doesn't hold that much importance anymore. As annoying as Elizabeth was, I'm just glad they didn't throw in River Song in this.

But now we have two Doctor's with one episode/movie to themselves. We're pretty much never going to see them again and I just think that's really disappointing. John Hurt was amazing and I really enjoyed his character. But I don't know, I think introducing him as the Doctor might not have been necessary. Surely they could have used Paul Mcgann as the Time-war Doctor which would give his character another adventure on our screens and not jumble up the Doctor numbers (Tenant as 11th, Smith as 12th, etc.).
