Hm, you'd have to change the actual name of your account to do so, the reason I come up as Master4lyf1 on G+ is because that's the name of my entire Google account.

It's a lie, it does not delete YouTube account. I went on G+ 5 times on my account and deleted it. Emshomar can confirm it too.

Yes I can confirm. You can disconnect Google+ from you YouTube settings right next where you can change channel name.
