Yeah, that might be a good idea, thing was, when the series was ongoing, I often posted a whole lot about each ep, but seeing as this is a whole 75 minutes as opposed to 45 minutes, it might be a plan.

Day of the Doctor seems like it might as well be a movie, rather than a special episode, if the run-time is anything to go by. I believe it was also shown in selected cinemas.

Hehe, yes it was shown in Cinemas the world over, in 3D too if I recall correctly, I just watched it as always, on BBC One.

ok.. I just watched the 50 year special episode/movie thingy with no knowledge about doctor who at all (well.. some basic things but pretty much nothing) and I have to say.. holy salamander in a cuttlefish being eaten by a walrus on a giant stick! this show's got a new watcher

Pretty sure those posters are fake, but yeah, you'd need to isolate yourself from the media to a staggering degree not to know what's coming up in the Christmas episode. (They actually screened a rough cut at the studio for Matt Smith's going-away party, and a bunch of people have leaked the episode's events online, some in great detail. There's some utterly mental stuff in there, but it's best kept as a surprise.)

The Day of the Doctor was an outstanding episode. One of the absolute best. John Hurt stole it completely. Taking screen-time into account, he gives what is probably the single best performance in the 50-year history of the show. His tortured, war-torn, shameful Doctor is everything Christopher Eccleston's should have been.

Definitely, for such a minor appearance in the grand scheme of things, John Hurt left such a mark and clear character for the War Doctor, his old nature went well the younger two, yet he himself had a joyful side to him as well, but more grown up, of course. He played a character that had seen and felt tragedy, bitter and broken, but blimey, when they ended up not using the moment, the sheer happiness he felt also was well done, and I like that he could portray that also.

As for the episode itself, well, it's definitely caused some rifts in the fandom from what I've seen, but I thoroughly loved it. The Time War's been a big part of the show since 2005, and I'm glad we're finally getting some closure on a subject which is becoming rather old, the hunt for Gallifrey itself should prove a new and interesting direction indeed. Seeing all 13 Doctors in that scene definitely elicited a rather joyous reaction from myself, as was The Curator, who Tom Baker did rather well, and I'm glad Moffat put that in also.

I'm curious about the Zygons though, they kinda abruptly left that thread hanging, I can imagine it was done purposely, but it leaves me wondering what will happen now with them, are they to coexist in secret with humanity? Or did they leave for parts unknown?

The salvation of Gallifrey undermines the Lonely God moping of Davies's Doctors, but that's a reasonable price to pay for a bold new story direction. I'm looking forward to seeing the Time Lords back – hopefully Susan and Romana will show up.

I saw the episode in the cinema with hundreds of Doctor Who fans, and I missed half the banter between Doctors because they kept screaming and laughing. I'm not complaining – this was easily the best cinema-going experience I've had. Capaldi got a huge cheer, and Tennant's last line got a collective moan of pain from the girls in the audience. Tom Baker was a bigger deal for those of us who watch the old series. With only a couple minutes of screen-time he managed to create an entirely distinct version of the Doctor, impossibly ancient and weary but entirely at peace with the universe. His delivery is electrifyingly elegiacal and very different from the Fourth Doctor's – just look at his eyes when he says "Things do get lost, you know..." or "Who knows?" I hope the Curator is never explained – the scene is perfect in every way.

It feels very much like a wrap-up scene was deleted. I'd assume that the Doctor found them a new world to inhabit peacefully.

I do hope they show some extent of the Doctor's relief for doing such a thing going on now, it'd be nice to draw out of that plot point gradually rather than sharply.
I watched it on the TV, same as ever, I've heard that it was pretty good in the Cinema, and that the 3D was pretty well done overall, though I prefer the comfort of my own home for such things, but that's just me.

The Curator, yes, his is a mystery that's better left unresolved, but I'm pretty glad that they did what they did with him, some knowing winks and some inspiring words to the Doctor, that was the best surprise, probably moreso than the 12/13th Doctor, just seeing him there, and playing the role he did.

Gallifrey's rescue might open up some interesting avenue's for exploring the Doctor's darker side. Would he have killed the trader Solomon and damned the Family of Blood to eternal suffering if he'd known that he wasn't a mass murderer after all?

You can see "the round things" on the wall while the Curator is talking to the Doctor. There's an interesting theory that the National Gallery is actually the TARDIS in the distant future. It's a pity that the Christmas special is probably going to subvert Trenzalore as the Doctor's tomb, because it's a beautiful concept.
