Yes, it was remade in the 90s from the 80s show, with more intense action/fighting, deeper story plots, and more in depth character personalities. No version of Shredder has ever been more intense; he was pretty much the Deathstroke of TMNT.

Still disagreeing, I am in favor of giving the characters personalities a bit more. Is the atmosphere and world important in a show? Definitely. I'm just in favor of the characters because that's what a look in a cartoon show. There have been so little examples when the atmosphere and world caught my attention into watching a show.

I'd say that, personally, the most important factors in a modern cartoon are the animation quality, and the voice acting. I feel that if these two things are done right, everything else should fall into place pretty nicely.

I've never understood all the harping on about Michael Bay. He's just another OK action director who makes poor-to-decent films. Nothing he's done is worthy of particular praise or hatred. I'd question the tastes of anyone who gets seriously upset about a bloody Transformers movie.
