I agree. I loved those Mega Man games and I hoped to see all Classic and X games in same styles.

Burning Rangers.

Yes I know its for Sega Saturn (Meaning most people are unable to play it.)

But its also the most action packed game I'v ever played, even beating out rail shooters, SHMUPS, and Robotron. Yes I consider it more intense than all of Sin and punishment, Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun, and Smash TV.

I have a giant block of text about how the game lends itself to a remake, which I shall link to with wild abandon.

Hello there. Discuss games you find underrated on this topic, or perhaps games you like that most people don't, and discuss why, I'm interested in hearing! Or maybe games you find should have been appreciated more or given more attention.
I'll start: Rayman Arena and Resident Evil 5 were two games I found to be underrated.

Just like the very first post here, I too like RE 5 though most don't. Though I'm a fan of the old games and miss the puzzles and survival horror theme, I understand and respect Capcom's decision to focus more on the in-depth storyline than the gameplay. I loved the fact that they focused on the backstory, and I love that it's the only game in the series where you actually get to fight Wesker in the game.

Just like the very first post here, I too like RE 5 though most don't. Finally getting to fight Wesker was great indeed, though I can't say I liked the fight itself. I found it particularly boring, not to mention the countless inconsistencies (behaviour of organic matter in lava, Chris moving a twenty ton boulder (don't even get me started on that QTE), the heroes running above lava like it's just a hot day, etc.), of which the whole game is full by the way (seriously, a guy turning into a monster the size of a fifty whales in ten seconds?). Resident Evil 4 had its fair share of rather edgy details (lava in the castle, Saddler suddenly growing into a big monster), but in Resident Evil 5 they took this to a whole new level, to a point where this even overshadows the storyline. Talking about the previous game, RE5 is such a ripoff, between the giants and Salazar's alter ego. I like a nice tribute, but once again this felt like way too much. And hell, what backstory? Wesker being created by Spencer? I'd rather they'd kept this more natural, avoided this far-fetched scenario entanglement which brings nothing to the series and only brings it down.
It's a good game on its own, though it may not sound like it reading my message, but if you've played RE4 you'll be highly disappointed to see the same things over and over, and if you care about a good storyline, then you'll cry.

^Totally agreed, and let's not forget Wesker's two lines of dialogue he repeats over and over every five seconds during the final fight. They kind of turned Resident Evil into Gears of War, which it really did not need to be.

Not sure if I said this before, but I actually love Final Fantasy XIII/XIII-2. And I am more hyped for Lightning Returns than I am for Final Fantasy XV (not that the latter looks underwhelming at all).

^Totally agreed as well! Strangely enough, XIII/XIII-2 and Crystal Chronicles are my favourites in the series. I absolutely love FFCC.

FFXIII/XIII-2 are my favourite of the main, numerical series, alongside IX, with IV and X following behind.

I also love Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (and I could never get into VII). And I love Dissidia 012 (I had the original too, but that game is completely obselete because Dissidia 012 basically has every single feature from the original).

I think the overexxageration of monster growth in RE5 was supposed to represent how seriously powerful the biohazards were getting. I think it was just symbolic, not literal. And I thought Wesker's backstory was interesting. Seriously, he was taken from his family as a child and had his memory wiped so he doesn't even remember them, raised along twelve other children under the exact same circumstances, all of which were administered with the Progenitor virus when they were about four years old, not to mention all raised and trained to be fully combat-competent killing machines.

Ozwell E. Spencer was the closest thing they had to a father, and each other the closest thing the Wesker children had to siblings. And Albert had to grow up watching them all die, with only him and Alex left. Albert Wesker has been trained in severe martial arts and weapon combat since he was four years old (age is theoretical,). That is pretty amazing.It made.me feel a little bit sorry for Wesker. It made me understand things from his point of view, if only for a little while; it made me wonder if his whole endeavor of.making the population be just like him was subconsciously because he was tired of feeling alone in this world.

I haven't really dived fully into the Resi franchise, but RE5 is a great game from what I played of it. It's different from past installments, but it's a really fun co-op game.

It is. And Mercenaries is amazing on it. But if you'd been a Res Evil fan since the past, you would've been scratching your head going, "H'm, different, but oookay", when the game first came out.

Super Mario Sunshine. I'm not sure if this is an 'underrated game' per se, as a lot of people like it, but a lot of people also dislike it for reasons I can't fathom, other than FLUDD, maybe, but I thought that that thing only added to the fun factor. Super Mario Sunshine is actually my favourite Mario game. It's a huge, the gameplay is off-the-map fun and varied, it's absolutely stunning to look at artistically and graphically, the level design is so out-there and surreal, yet naturalistic at the same time, the music (like in all three of Mario's 3D adventures) is outstanding, the mechanics and camera are virtually perfect, FLUDD only quadruples the awesomeness and fun factor of the mechanics, and even the progression of the story and the little environmental details that accompany it (such as Delfino Plaza becoming sunnier over time) add to the atmosphere. It's probably the most prominent in any Mario game to date, and is pulled off so well, it fits right in.

Aside from the game's tendency to be a little bit glitchy now and then, it's nearly perfect to me.

I agree for the most part, and I actually like Sunshine better than Galaxy 1 (I prefer Galaxy 2 though, which is my favourite Mario game).

However, I've never actually completed Sunshine, for a few reasons:

-Blue Coin hunting. They're fun to find along the way when I'm generally exploring, but there are so many of them, and all of them are required to 100% the game. Deliberately searching for these would be a pain in the arse.
-While I feel Galaxy 1 is overrated as it has a lot of tedious and boring missions, none of them are quite as bad as some of the missions Sunshine throws at you. They are not quite as frequent as in Galaxy, but they're either really tedious, or just plain bullshit. Stuff like the blooper surfing are just awful (I'd take the Manta Ray surfing in Galaxy over it), and whoever thought it was a good idea to rip-off Sonic and throw Mario INSIDE of a giant pinball table is a prick. >.>
-The game has a really slow start.

Other than those three things, I agree with what you say, Sunshine is an excellent game, and I like it more than the original version of Super Mario 64, and Galaxy 1.

Agreed Ad, many tend to bitch that "Oh, it's not as good as Super Mario 64", which is likely a lie stemming from their nostalgia masks. I never cared for 64 at all, it was a good game and yes it revolutionized gaming, but Super Mario Sunshine improved it in every way. But the bottom line is that I'd take Super Mario Sunshine or really any platformer that came after Super Mario 64 over Super Mario 64.

I don't like the original Super Mario 64 that much, though I love the DS remake. I'm torn between whether or not I like it more than Sunshine.

For reference, my favourite 3D Mario games from top to bottom:

1. Super Mario Galaxy 2
2. Super Mario Sunshine/Super Mario 64 DS
3. Super Mario Galaxy
4. Super Mario 3D Land
5. Super Mario 64

From what I've played of 3D World, it could actually beat Sunshine/64 DS.

Forgive me if I sound touchy on the subject, but I'd like to point out that if you prolong the fight, the dialogue starts changing and Wesker goes.more in-depth.into his intentions.
