Design your own Rayman 2 levels and show them here

Post by Lum »

Hello there! I wondered how to create your own Rayman 2 levels because it doesn't seem possible. However, after all, it is.

If you are in the possession of 3D software and you have the texture pack of Rayman 2, which was posted by a member in this forum, you can actually create your own levels.

First you'll need the following things:

- 3D software, I use blender, it's free to use. Look it up and download it (and use some basic tutorials to know how to use it)
- The Rayman 2 texture pack. I found it here in the forum once and I will repost it: http://ods.wz.cz/download/texturesByDrolpt.zip
(Thanks to drolpiraat)

This is the first level which I have created, I want to build it up further. If I made a decent level out of it, I will post some screenshots here and post the 3D model.

Hm, is it possible to actually implement them though? It's all well and good having a nice floor plan to gaze upon, but as my science teacher has a tendency to say, "the proof of the pudding is in the eating," and I'd love to actually test out levels in the main game itself.

Ahah, not a bad idea, I may give this a shot later today, actually. I should even try recreating some Rayman 2 maps for ROTD!

Unfortunately not, it's just a conceptual thing. I really like the idea, but I'm not sure how many people would be interested in actually learning 3D software just to do this.

Yeah, if it were possible to actually put them in the game itself, it'd probably induce some more drive into such an endeavour, designing mere concepts probably won't induce as extravagant a response methinks.

I'll admit, I long for the day when Rayman 2 and 3 are unlocked, I've seen the possibilities of modding, and I'd love to see those possibilities implemented into the 3D titles.

Please no.
People will replace Rayman with a horribly made Pony model.
At least it'd be alright if it was decent and wasn't horribly just placed over the animations.
Just check most Sonic Generations mods and you'll see what I mean.

So you're saying that because some make pointless and ridiculous model swaps, that such an opportunity should never be given?
I'd completely disagree, so what if some people make them? That's their problem, it doesn't concern you, and shouldn't even bother you, why accentuate something which is completely optional and can be ignored? Why let that tiny, insignificant part of modding detract or defy the ability to mod in general?

There's a magnitude of other more brilliant ideas that have and can be brought to fruition thanks to modding, and I don't think they should be hampered because of some sodding model swaps, choosing to make such an issue of that, comes across as rather picky.

Here is a new design which I have made:

If I could have an original Rayman 2 model from Rayman 2, I could put it in there.
