Ideas for Rayman Worlds
- Microchip swamp
- a world where everything is made up of toys from our child hood, and the background is heavily Lava Lamp and 60's hippie room themed.
Platforms could include trading cards, game controllers, puzzle pieces, dominoes, lava lamps, Root Goldberg machines, pieces from the game "Mousetrap," those tunnel things that hamsters crawl in, and toy cats and dogs. (and some of their ears are openings into secret levels)
enemies include flying pterodactyls on strings that you see on the ceilings in most toy stores, killer Furbies, and spinning tops that work similar to Cat-O-Nine-Tales from DKC2. Bosses include Space Mama with a Rag Doll as a head and a giant space robot type thing, where you can either use flying good-guy toys willing help, UFO-type ships to get to its eye level, or go all Shadow of The Colossus on his butt and run along his obstacle-course-laden body until you reach the soft spot on his head, all while avoiding his laser shooting eyes.
- A Twilight Zone themed world, where nothing makes sense, and each door leads to a place that has absolutely nothing to do with last room, because being somewhere and then suddenly being somewhere else is a common thing in dreams. so basically a mind-fu*k world.
- PINBALL MACHINE WORLD!
My grandpa has a collection of now rare Bally-Williams pinball games like Addams Family, Medieval Madness and Twilight Zone, and something i always wanted to do was to takes the table's glass off, and put very small action fugures on the table, and take pictures of the toys sliding on the ramps and interacting with the halls and others features of the pinball games, as if we were to shrink ourselves and go inside a pinball game and it would seem like we were really there. So having Rayman explore pinbal machines and eventually being stuck in the middle of a chaotic multi-ball would be awesome

This very nearly happened back when Phoenix Interactive were pitching a Rayman game.Cometcourse64 wrote:- PINBALL MACHINE WORLD!

GHOOD GHOD that's amazing!
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Well I don't really have any ideas for Rayman worlds, but I do like to expand upon the ideas of the original six worlds.
For example, I like this think that before the theft of the Great Protoon and after its return, Picture City was an actual city (As opposed to what looks like the aftermath of an office and crafts store exploding) with giant pencil/eraser buildings and smaller tent-like structures. And I also like to imagine that each part of the Valley doesn't just start and stop next to the other, but rather they 'blend' together a little. In Rayman Activity Centre, there is an activity known as 'The Giant Dominoes' which features giant pink dominoes (heavily matching the style of Picture City) inside the Caves of Skops over an ink sea (Which is not actually shown but mentioned). This could sort of be that area between the city and the caves.

This happens between the Dream Forest and Band Land in the PC version.THEdragon wrote:And I also like to imagine that each part of the Valley doesn't just start and stop next to the other, but rather they 'blend' together a little.

Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
I'm a big fan of the idea of worlds based on celebrations, like Fiesta de los Muertos. There are tons of different cultural celebrations like this all over the world, and it's really cool to see the spirit of these essentially being brought to life in form of a series of video game levels. I don't have anything specific in mind, but I'd love to see more like that.
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Ah, you're right, it does! Heh, I should have realised that sooner, having played the PC version.spiraldoor wrote:This happens between the Dream Forest and Band Land in the PC version.THEdragon wrote:And I also like to imagine that each part of the Valley doesn't just start and stop next to the other, but rather they 'blend' together a little.
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Rayman's world has got many possibilities of bringing new environments. I wouldn't mind to see a computarized zone.
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Ahh I've had so many ideas mmm
Like Dragon, I'd expand on some of the original levels. Like, Bandland is all band instruments and the Desert in Origins is all traditional, so, going from Haruka's idea of a "computer" world, some kind of synthesizer? Like with equalizers and speakers and stuff ahah
Another one is this kind of garden place. I can't really describe it other than that but I do like to draw it whoops

Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
I'd like more Mexican themed worlds. I'd also like a space world, a disco world, and maybe a city world.

I'd like to see where the Robo Pirates came from, for one thing.
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Perhaps for R1-themed world it would have been nice to be able to explore Betilla's house and the Magician's house. They'd be in the Dream Forest, I'm pretty sure.

Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
I'd like to see a level or world where Rayman travels through the many pages of different books. Where he walks on the pages of books and there are letters and sentences and stories in the background (kinda like that episode of Secret Squirrel where he fights that little atom sized thing and they travel through small things like foods and books and end the end Squirrel defeats him with logic by reading from the dictionary. Or like Picture City where it looks like you're actually inside a pencil).
And maybe the ambiance and landscaping of each book world is based on the genre of book. Like a technology and space theme for sci-fi, dragons and castles and beautiful plains for fantasy, stuff like that, as long as it still shows you walking through the pages of a book.

Oh my my my you just gave me an excellent idea to incorporate in my Rayman game, even if it's just a cutscene or something. Why didn't I think of this before!Master wrote:I'd like to see where the Robo Pirates came from, for one thing.

Perhaps a trip into the Book of Knowledge.MisterDark'sFanClub wrote:I'd like to see a level or world where Rayman travels through the many pages of different books. And I don't understand what you mean about the part where Rayman's inside a pencil? I don't recall that.

Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
When I read that, I was reminded of some of the sequences in Winnie The Pooh films, where they'd be on a literal page of the book telling the story of the film.

THEdragon:
What I meant by inside a pencil is how sometimes the background wall is all wood and stuff. With that and the erasers and ink, at first I thought I was inside a pencil.

Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
I'd love to see the more arty aspects of Rayman's world. In other words I'd like the Rayman 4 concept art to be a thing.
Re: Ideas for Rayman Worlds
Golly, I never thought of it like that. I always wondered what the wooden background was meant to be!MisterDark'sFanClub wrote:THEdragon:
