Re: Your game of the generation
Meh, the Wii U is its own thing, much like the Wii was to the PS3 and 360.
Re: Your game of the generation
It's still part of the new gen though, along with PS4 and Xone.
Some people just don't understand what generation means in this context, it doesn't mean graphical fidelity or processing power.

Re: Your game of the generation
It's *technically* next-gen, but I still have difficulty calling it that.
Re: Your game of the generation
Isn't it current gen now? All the major consoles are released so isn't next gen the ps5 and xbox zero and wii thrii?

Hehe, true indeed.
Argh, personally, I don't know what to make of the current trio, the very idea of jumping in so soon seems so dangerous and risky, and considering that we've amassed quite a collection on the PS3, risking all that for a potential bust seems overtly foolish to me. As such, I've conveyed my own disdain for such a notion of replacing the PS3 with a PS4, time will tell if it stands or not.

I'd advise strongly against selling your ps3, but instead recommend saving up for a ps4.
It's not as though the ps4 isn't going to keep doing really well, and there will be tons of great games throughout it's life, but it's not worth getting rid of the ps3.

Well, you know what I mean. I still feel as though the seventh generation of consoles is still the current one, since it is still very early in the eighth generation, with a lack of decent exclusives for the new consoles.MrBadGuy wrote:Isn't it current gen now? That's exactly my stance, the issue is, I've a younger sibling who's much more keen, and has as much of a say in the matter as I do, maybe more so as he uses the PS3 more often than me, I'm afraid.

Do anything to keep your PS3. Dance around in the public streets naked if you have to. The PS3 is infinitely superior to the PS4 at the moment, has much better exclusives, and it's quite stupid that people are getting orgasms over the next-gen. You can get most next-gen games on PC anyway, so...Master wrote:That's exactly my stance, the issue is, I've a younger sibling who's much more keen, and has as much of a say in the matter as I do, maybe more so as he uses the PS3 more often than me, I'm afraid.

Re: Your game of the generation
I'm actually rather bored of PS-whatever, X-9,000, and Wii-70, I want some new consoles by different companies, or at least consoles that are truly different from their predecessors. I remember when the Wii U was announced I thought it was some sort of add-on for the Wii rather than a actual new console, which is saying something. For starters, I want Nintendo to ditch this Wii crap - it was revolutionary for about two seconds until we realized that its whole concept was already down back in the NES days, that and I'd rather have a real controller - and even though I've never been much of a Sega fan I'd like to see them enter with a new console as well since I really adored the all-too-brief Dreamcast.
I feel that they're always eager for the next big thing because by the time a new console is announced they've been far beyond bored with the current ones and are looking for something new. Only to find another console that's not all that different, and the cycle repeats. But anyways, I personally think that out of all the PS consoles the first and second are the greatest to chose since they already have a large, finished library of games, most of which are of good quality and at a cheap price.technology4617 wrote: Do anything to keep your PS3. Re: Your game of the generation
You're correct in terms of Nintendo's goals (innovation in actual game experiences as opposed to horsepower and implementing other media. Sony and Microsoft focus more on the those two, with Sony leaning on the horsepower side, and Microsoft on the other media side), but as MrBadGuy said, Wii U is part of the eighth generation, much like how the Wii was part of the seventh.Master wrote:Meh, the Wii U is its own thing, much like the Wii was to the PS3 and 360.
Regarding your PS3, I'd recommend you do what you can to prevent your younger brother from selling it for a PS4. The PS4 is a lovely system, but it's going to take quite a while to get it's lovely games out. I understand how difficult family can make things like this, though. If it were up to me, I would not of got a Wii U four days after launch.
